It was great listening to this conversation. It was almost like a "fly-on-the-wall" situation where we got to hear two people discuss what it's like to be a driving intructor. It was also interesting to find out what differences there are in NSW (I'm in QLD) in the driving test. I agreed with most of Jeremy's opinions on things. For example, I am a bit nervous that we could have autonomous cars on the road soon. There's just too much hazard-perception, spatial awareness and context like the speed limit signs on the back of buses (that he mentioned) that a computerised car wouldn't have. Even the technology that a lot of new cars have are potentially giving people a false sense of security I think. Over time, however, this may change. He was also right about cars incredibly high specs compared to even just 30 years ago. Cars are safer now, but are so heavy and powerful - they're tanks compared to old cars. Just take note next time you see a car from the 80s or even the 90s, how small and slow they are. As for cars from the 70s, they look like toys (especially ones from the UK!). Jeremy's reason for becoming an instructor to increase the driving quality here in Australia one-student-at-a-time is very admirable. The quality of the driving here in Brisbane is getting really bad. Mainly people being careless, lazy and often "entitled". It drives me crazy (sorry for the bad pun). My daughter turns 16 next year and I'll be tasked with teaching her. I feel pretty confident that I'll do that well (I've been watching a lot of videos). I'm an instructor (of computers, not cars) so already have the patience. I want her to be a good driver so she can be successful in a sea of bad drivers.

The video was randomly recommended by KZbin and I loved it! You guys are so entertaining. I am from Germany and it’s so interesting to hear what the rules are in other countries.

Hello, can you please do a video of tips on how to deal with heavy traffic at roundabouts? I have a lot of trouble on giving way at roundabouts during heavy traffic or at peak hours. This would improve my judgement at roundabouts too!

Sure. This is on my list

I was in Sydney the other week, and I noticed they had a 'flashing yellow arrow' at points for some intersections which used arrows. I think it acts similar to a green light with no arrow, "you may turn when it is safe and follow the give-way rules", but I'm not entirely sure. Glad you noticed the zig-zag lines and explained what they were - I hadn't seen any in Brisbane either!

That's right. Flashing yellow lights at traffic lights usually mean proceed with caution, following the give way rules. They are temporary lights that are on due to maybe construction, roadworks, traffic lights not working or temporary traffic conditions.

@@drivingtestaustralia I came across one today. I stopped at the line. Looked right. Gave way to a driver. Proceeded through the intersection…

Can you do a similar one in SA? 😅
@drivingtestaustralia Жыл бұрын
Great idea. The plan is to make one for every state, so SA is on the list too 😃
