I’ve been driving OTR since 89’ and I took plenty of showers in all the major travelcenters/truckstops. For the most part they’re pretty clean and well maintained. Some better than others. We get em’ free with 50 gallons of fuel that we purchase. Just make sure you have a decent pair of flip flops.

When I was down and out, I used these for about six months. Then, I did the math on the Membership at a 24hr gym. For the year, I could take showers daily rather than once a week and the cost was the less, plus I had the use of their equipment and a place to get out of the weaather... they never knew. Such also helped me to maintain a schedule. I utilized the gym at hours there were less people. Folks would be very surprised to find out how many Homeless folks do not apprear to be Homeless, never ask for anything, and work doing whatever just to get by.

Yah, I just posted the same. I was in the military in the '80's and in Boot Camp they drilled that into us. Always, always, always use the 'shower shoes'. The Athletes Foot you get in the military doesn't go away! (at least not easily).

I was a Long Haul truck driver I've used truck stop showers before you had a really nice Executive Suite shower the ones at the TA truck stops are only the size of a small closet, just enough room to stand upright in, oh and by the way showers are free for truck drivers with purchase of diesel 💪🇺🇸

Flip flops are a must at a public shower. Or a hotel. We always used them under our feet when using a motel room. When walking in a room if we chose to cool off feet by taking off shoes and socks.

As a gym member at different gyms all my life, I have to say that that truck shower, was cleaner than most of the gyms i have showered in.

I would definitely bring in a bottle of diluted bleach in a spray bottle and spray down the area before I took a shower. Anybody can use this information whenever they use a public shower at a truck stop, a gym, a campground or even when going to a hotel. Since bleach and water solutions need to be made fresh each day you use them, only make what you need for that day. Because the bleach combined with tap water breaks down quickly. And don’t guess! Always measure. Start by measuring the water, then use a measuring spoon to add the correct amount of bleach. You need the correct ratio of bleach and water to kill germs. If a surface is visibly soiled, pre-clean before disinfecting. For sanitizing: use a 16 oz spray bottle, mix 1 1/2 cups cool water with 2 teaspoons of bleach. The amount of time that the solution must stay on the surface to actually kill the germs is 5 minutes. This will kill germs such as MRSA, E. coli, Staph, Salmonella + SARS-CoV-2, HIV-1, Rhinovirus, Rotavirus, Strep, Bordetella, Listeria + Herpes, MERS, Ebola + Athletes Foot Fungus. If possible, open windows to allow good air circulation where you’re disinfecting. You can also use a battery powered fan to improve air circulation in rooms without windows. (You can purchase one at Walmart). When using a spray bottle to apply the sanitizing solution, clean the bottle immediately when finished. Pour unused contents of the bottle down the sink or shower drain, then rinse the bottle and sprayer mechanism with clean water. I got all this information from the Clorox website. ✌️👍

I drove truck for a few years. From Canada but most of my miles were in the U.S.. Drivers get a free shower credit pretty much every time they fill their fuel tanks. I always had 4 or 5 on my points card. Those showers are like a piece of paradise after driving hours and hours every day. Always wear shower slippers though otherwise soon enough you will end up with some nasty foot fungus..

I used to work at a truck stop and would clean the showers. You are given 5 minutes to scrub the toliet, wipe the shower down and mop the floor between customers. That foot print was most likely from the person who cleaned the shower. Once a week we would shut the showers down for 2 hours and several employees would deep clean them. You get fresh towels after every use regardless if they are used or not. At times you could really be jumping depending how many people needed to shower and how many you had to clean.

I didn't have a home slept in my car and later on in my band jam room. Band members became assholes didn't want to pay their share of rent since I stayed there. They all had homes at the time never offered me place to stay. I'm in much better place in my life now but won't forget them and their attitudes like yours and your assumptions.

I work at a Love's. We get 10 minutes to clean the showers. Yes we are timed. That said, there was no excuse for the hair in the shower. I hope you will check out other Love's in the future. Some are better/worse than others. Stay safe out there.

I'm a retired driver and I can say this, Truck Stop life is a trip, never go barefoot in the showers and the Luv's stops in Florida are nasty. Travel America's across the southern states are pretty spiffy but most truck stops near state borders are where the real action and drama is. Safe travels dude and have fun.

We were camping at a place with no shower facilities and no place to even swim so we drove to a small town and literally took showers at a car wash taking turns soaping up and rinceing each other off. We felt cleaner afterwards so sometimes you make do .

We camped somewhere when I was a teen with no showers. There was a lake but thankfully my dad drove us to town to shower once that week. My mom and grandma had the luxury of staying in her RV at the campground. I felt gross hardly showering and my dad said, "Well, you got the lake." My sister and I still complain about that trip. Usually we stayed in a nice cabin but my grandma wanted to bring her RV that year.

Never go into a public accessible shower without cheap dollar store clogs, and a can of Lysol type spray disinfectant. On the very rare occasion that I have to even take a crap in a public restroom, I try to disinfect it like I’m about to preform surgery. Even then, I only use a public restroom if I’m about to crap myself. Just my opinion.

I have seen a You Tuber who travels in a camper go into a shower in a quiet, clean park with disinfectant and he sprayed the shower area and outside of it. He then took a shower after it was fully cleaned. It is best to wear shower shoes that you can wear in the sea as they cover your entire foot. Flip Flops do not cover your entire foot and are slippery and uncomfortable in the shower.

My brother is a truck driver and he takes showers at truck stops regularly, he has always said they are the best. He says they always provide you with warm fresh and clean bath towels. I never saw a towel in your bath Lamont, is it extra for towels I didn’t ask him, but for $18 you should have received a Towel and a floor mat.

As a trucker you picked one of the best shower truck stops. Loves is the best and you got the handicap shower. The lower nozzle for a person in a wheelchair. Truckers fuel and get their shower free, discounts what have you, and I am happy to report that you are at the exit 59 off I 70. One of my fuel stops. Good place. Flip flops? Random hair? The usual. The people at loves are under duress to clean and service the counter.

As a trucker myself Loves is the furtherest thing from a truck stop that their is!!! It’s only a fuel stop along with pilot too a truck stop has a restaurant with table service a tv room and a garage.
