I also agree with the starlink stuff, I’ve seen about 3 Passovers at my house and it’s definitely a growing issue, maybe our image stacking programs will remove these in the future for us if they get really bad, but hopefully not for a while :)

Great work, very useful. I am 2 years in to this hobby using PS exclusively till this Summer. Now it is 50/50 with Pixinsight doing most of my preprocessing and the rest in PS. A steep learning curve. I would have loved to see the rest of your processing of your Wolf-Rayet in PS in this video. FYI, on a OSC ASI2600MC I have been using the Antalya RGB Triband Filter. It is almost a good as taking mono RGB with filters. Saves a lot of time,

Stunning image, and a lovely tribute. Sorry for your loss. If you want to add another time-saver to your workflow; After Star Aligning, do a Star Removal, either with StarNet V2 (free), or RC Astro's StarXterminator (license), both available as plugins for Pixinsight, on the HOO and the RGB. Then open the starless HOO and the RGB stars as layers in Photoshop and blend them as you normally would.

I wanted to second this. I process similar to the above. I use a one shot color camera with an L-Extreme filter due to my light-polluted skies. So to get better stars I shoot a few hours with the L-Pro filter. After I align the images I will remove the stars using RC Astro's StarXterminator and then use pixel math to insert the RGB stars back into the image. Love your videos, thanks for keeping us motivated in this hobby.

Nice seeing you back on KZbin. You have been missed here man. Just for a fun, have you ever tried to crank up the saturation on the rgb stars layer? I love doing it to see what star types they actually are. You can try doing it too and add it to your narrowband information. It would be fun to compare.

I still have many questions before I purchase, and I wish there was a way we could communicate one on one, so I can build my perfect set up. I have already committed to buying the red cat 61 but I am torn between the color or mono chrome cameras and the guide scope. I sure could use your help but thank you for your videos. Cool. For the RGB star layer in PS you can just change the blend mode to color without changing opacity as a normal layer, then you get the color of the RGB stars mixed in with the smaller Ha star from the layer underneath!

Oh, so very sorry about Zeek, Trevor. Guess we're all star bound eventually, though. Great capture and so, so interesting! Beautiful image as well. I'm pretty new to monochrome imaging and I've got a lot to learn, but I saw first-hand that the stars in narrowband leave a lot to be desired so I started capturing RGB stars. However, I haven't yet tried to integrate them back into the narrowband images. Is there a way to do this directly in PixInsight? Thanks so much as always for the great information and tutorial, Trevor!

As usual another amazing video. Three years ago during Covid I started watching your videos. Last September I started my finally started my journey. I found WR-134 just by watching your video. Stellarium wasn’t all that helpful. Got 3 hrs during a full moon and thin cloudy night. Man I can’t wait until the next clear night or next year when I’ll have more time. What ever comes first. Man you weren’t kidding. You only get a few nights maybe each month. Beautiful capture and thank you for what you bring to the community

Excellent image! Apparently WR134 was one of the first emission line stars Charles Wolf and Georges Rayet found, in 1867. So technically, the designation refers to the star not the nebula, which I can’t imagine they could have seen, even with the 40cm telescope they used. But it doesn’t seem to have any other designation, like a Sharpless or Cederblad number. It’s not marked on the Millennium Star Atlas. Nor on the hugely detailed TriAtlas, as best I can tell, as it is so crowded. Anyway, great capture! Definitely an OIII filter object.

Something to note on the starlink satellites: these are recently launched and moving to their grid locations. After there are in place they stop emitting light - the lighting is to wow people on the ground during the launch sequence. In fact, there are hundreds of starlink satellites in your FoV every night, throughout the night in Ontario, you just cant detect them with your scopes as they don't emit light. Kind of funny to see people complaining about the launches but fail to understand just how many are already in orbit that are completely invisible to us on the ground.
