Long ago I worked at an industrial supply house and we had a group of Amish man come in to buy some items. I had been told by there outside salesman (that I could not stand) many times if they ever do stop by to call him and to never talk to them. I offered to take them on a tour through the whole warehouse to see all the stuff first hand they we sold. They where like kids in a candy store and loaded up three carts full of stuff that they had no idea that we sold. They where full of questions about everything and had a great since of humor. They bought thousands or dollars worth of stuff and paid cash. There regular salesman found out what happened because they had contacted the company and asked them to make me there regular salesman instead of him and he went off and tried to get me fired. One of the owners of the company called me into his office, and said close the door, which most often is not a good thing. Then he started laughing and told me what the salesman had said about what I had done. He said you sold them more items in one day then he did all month, and they liked you, welcome to outside sales. :)

Excellent video..most people in non Amish communities don't realize that most Amish really don't get out to town that often so when they do they really load up on groceries items that aren't easily available back home..and they do enjoy some special treats as well..it's not uncommon to see the Amish at the local Aldi's with 2 or 3 full grocery carts of food..not only is it the fact they usually have a large family but it also costs them money to have English drivers taking them to town..I know several English that all they do is drive the Amish around in vans.. wherever they need to go and they charge $2.50-$3.00 a mile per person for the trip..they make a great living just hauling Amish .. although it does have it's draw backs on a hot humid western Pa summer afternoon with 10 or 12 Amish in the van and bath night is still a couple days away..lol..the Amish like some good ole fashioned English junk food from time to time as well..there was a young Amish dad and his 5 or 6 yrs old son at our local English family owned convince store last week ..they had 3 large containers of ice cream 6 bags of potato chips beef jerky candy bars and three 12pks of pop..I said to the 6 yrs old " boy you sure got a lot of snicky snacks there" the father turned to me and said "it makes them hop" ..lol.. awesome video as usual..thank you for sharing 🤗

There were two Amish adults in the back, and she had them packed tight with groceries. They were sitting with so much stuff on their laps, and surrounded by other stuff, that it was hard to see them, lol. This is what my wife does all day and night. They call, she drives. The night before last, she got a call at 11:30pm to take one of our friends to Ephrata Hospital to have a baby. My wife has been “on call” for this event for the last three or four weeks, bringing her phone to bed every night, just in case that call came. One thing you can almost always count on is, whenever you drive for the Amish and they say they need to go to the store, you know you are going to more places than just one store, and you also almost always end up with more people in the car than you started out with - you pick up one person and you drop off four or five. Somehow, word gets around that the first passenger is going somewhere, then their friends decide they want to go, too. My wife loves driving for the Amish, and we have made so many great friends because of what she does.
@AmishAmerica2 жыл бұрын
Great that your wife is able to help in those moments more pressing than a trip for potatoes! On one hand it's inconvenient but on the other that must really be rewarding for your family
@brucestorey9172 жыл бұрын
@@AmishAmerica It is rewarding. Going back to the baby, my wife took the husband back to the hospital the next day to pick up the new mother and their baby. There was a scheduled time for their release from the hospital, but it was right at a shift change period, so the father was told it would be a couple more hours before they could leave. The English tend to take advantage of the willingness of the Amish to not argue and they expected that he would just sit there and wait. Well, the English in my wife knew what was going on, so she used the not-so-agreeable approach with the hospital to get Mom and Baby out of the hospital when they were supposed to be out. She took-on the role of “aggressor” (for lack of a better term) that the father would not have ever done. The new family was happy to be out of the hospital on time - it just took a little bit of “English” to get it done.
@Stache9872 жыл бұрын
@@brucestorey917 I've run into a lot of delayed beyond quoted discharge times in hospitals, I think it's laziness, the nurse is lucky to have been in there 5 minutes with a patient and for the average patient /per nurse ratio, it should have been on time, it makes pass down on shift change take longer and delays admission when the room is needed. I've only been hospitalized 4x in 25 years, twice for surgeries, but I've been there to take a "frequent flier" [LOL] home many times and it was so late getting out of there we had to go to Dennys for dinner.
