My ancestors have past down this practice they called "Round Robin". They said was started due to pioneering days family or former communities that had disaster of famine that made them move. Our family still did this & it continued for a time in computer age in email from.

You might like the Netflix series "Dash & Lily". He finds her diary/book at the bookstore, and he writes to her, then she writes back to him. And they do dares to learn about each other. It's a darling show, based on the books. I'm in a choir. I'm going to try to recommend a circle letter.

Wow! This is so interesting. I really love writing and receiving letters. It’s so much more special and personal than emails. Circle Letters are such a great idea.

English to us directly but what translates to "high people" when speaking of us indirectly as a matter of fact here in Holmes county Ohio anyway. I myself have kind of deciphered the name to mean what we would call people of the "high society" and would mean those who value more worldly things. Js.❤😊

Last November thousands of Amish voted for Trump which essentially got him to win Pennsylvania. Amish believe in Family values, religion, anti-war, hard work, the right for peaceful people to own any firearm, and their biggest believe is keeping government out of their lives. Thank you Amish!
we must all learn this time to understand this heating idea
@DressDown224 күн бұрын
This is a lie. What they actually do is they have all the men in the family cut their beards and use it as fire fuel to heat the whole community. Some even say the burning aroma smells like Cow farts from the 15th century. 😊👍

Some of the New Order here in Ohio also run piping beneath the floor boards, all connected to the furnace. These boofs got it better than me in that regard. Im glad grandma moved from Danner to Old order, then Dad eventually just left outright. Could have sworn I delivered some pizza pies to at least one of these kitchens you showed. They like (*demand*) you to deliver inside to the kitchen or dining area, not on the porch door.

Not Amish but we had a wood stove in our kitchen growing up in Pennsylvania and it warmed the whole front of the home so good! Our best heat was the coal furnace we had when I was really little. The wood stove had a little door that would turn down and we would lay our wool mittens on it and it would dry them. The top had a grate for cooking on if you needed to. Was great because we never run out of a way to heat the home or cook, even in severe blizzards that knocked out the electricity.

I'm a black woman in backwood Ga. My grandparents did all this and had wood stoves etc. Amish way of living, is just how my grandparents use to do things, including canning and making their own clothes. This way of living will be useful as times are going to get worse.

I'm looking for a way to heat my home. It has no working furnace and we have been using electric heaters. However because putting two heaters on one circuit trips the fuse, we can't fully heat the house. We have to close off some rooms permanently and on the cold days it's only in the 50's. We also have a wood burning stove but our land doesn't have enough trees and buying wood is expensive. A bundle of wood costs $5-7 and will heat the living room for a couple hours. If we did that it would end up costing more than our electric bill which is $500 a month.
