I lost my father due to alcoholism. On my first born sons birthday. He was turning 6. 9-11-01 baby. We went over for a cook out in August. A week later he's in the hospital and he never made it out. A year later my high-school sweetheart after 12 years abandoned the family, we had him and his sister. They were 7 and 4. I did the best I could a single dad working construction. Both of them resented me as teens, my daughter is pregnant now, idk where she lives or who her partner is, she doesn't talk to me. My son and I speak but he's got his own life and still has this underlying distane for me. I moved to TX from NY recently to have a fresh start. I still struggle with depression but I'll never pick up that bottle. This made me happy for this kid. And his father, and then made me cry because I don't know if I'll be that lucky.

It can often be annoying to see KZbinrs who are already successful get special treatment, but with Ryan, I'm always happy to see it. He seems like such a genuinely nice and caring guy who really appreciates his success. I also always appreciate when someone can talk about their faith without it feeling like they're forcing it on people. Ryan, you're awesome, and so is your dad.

Ryan, The relationship you have with your father is identical to mine-from alcoholism to feeling resentful and everything in between. I never knew how to describe it, but you nailed it. Regardless of all the demons our fathers battle everyday, they wake up and do it for us. My dad had just passed away a week ago, and I had watched this video unknowing where it would go. This incredible story of rekindling your relationship is amazing and I hope others watch this and take notes. There are too many father-son relationships riddled with addiction and stubbornness, and as we never have as much time with our dads as we think we do. I wish I came across this video a week sooner. Keep up the work and keep making him proud. 🙌🏽🤞🏽

Dude, I've been watching your videos for the last year or so, and they're great. This video, though, was a whole other level. Sometimes, you get in your head and let things get to you and hold resentment towards people that you feel have done you wrong and lead to a separation of a relationship. I watched this video in a time when this is a current issue in my life. I'm trying to live my life in a better way and follow God and do the right thing and I believe this was something God needed me to see as a reminder that not everyone is perfect and forgiveness is the way. Great video.

Ryan, I don’t usually take time to comment on KZbin videos, but I just want to thank you for sharing your faith on your platform. I’ve watched you for a while and always appreciated your humor and genuine stories. But when you shared that heartfelt testimony about how the Lord has restored you and your dad, my spirit rejoiced with you! And sharing the scripture with it!! I’ve known for a while that you are a Christian but I am thankful you are becoming even bolder to share about what God is doing in your life to the watching world. Keep shining the light of Christ!

What a great human being this guy is, that's all I can think of right now. I've heard many people call you one of the nicest ppl on KZbin. I dont know what we will be doing without a person like you on this Earth. You are a treasure Ryan Trahan.

Love this so much. What a special memory and love seeing you give glory to God. Praising Him for restored relationship with your dad and your obedience to do it. Very cool story. Thanks for being a light in a dark place. ❤

Right? I started watching Ryan with my daughter, but now I’ll watch him even with her not around 😂 you could always tell he was a good kid. Glad to see he IS exactly that. Had me tearing up.

Well, I just cried like a baby. As someone with a strained relationship with my parent, I feel this. So happy you were able to reconcile and make these memories with your dad, Ryan.
