She's relatable and real... 16yrs ago I was taken to a hungry horse and it made me sick, literally made me vomit. My ex's mom took me. Since then I've never seen either my ex, his mum or a hungry horse 😂 not even joking. I've never had a bad meal since lol

Apologies in advance for the essay!! When i looked at the menu I thought, there's bound to be the steak and ale pie!( controversial) . Only been to an HH twice, the same one about 16 years ago. The first time the food was ok-ish, I had the pie, the Mrs. had fish and chips.we did have to wipe the table down though! Went a year or so later I still had the pie/casserole with lid! The Mrs. Went for Hunter's Chicken. Wiped chairs and table down! Food arrived, moved my plate and felt something crusty underneath, so lifted it up and was greeted by a mass of dried ketchup! Mrs. got Food poisoning from her meal!!!! Will never eat in one again! It's the staff I feel sorry for because they get the brunt of the complaints. Anyway, onwards my friend 😊

Went to a Hungry Horse last year and got a Sunday Lunch burger which came with beef dripping cooked roast potatoes. Ended up getting a refund the burger was cold and the roast potatoes tasted of ammonia. Absolutely vile.

Hi Lee, we tried our local Hungry Horse (Mirfield) when our daughter was little and never went again. It looks like they haven't improved in the last 25 years. In fact the food you had looked like it could have been left over from our visit! More recently we've just spent a fantastic weekend at the Dales food and drink (and mud) festival - you should go next year, you could film a month's worth of videos in one go.

Why are these establishments now passing that crap off as a mixed Grill. A true Mixed grill does not include chicken. It should be steak, gammon, Sausage, pork chop, lamb chop, Kidney, eggs and the Trimmings.

Hiya Lee, I watched this review with interest as I run an over 60's group in my town, we meet three times a month, and one of those meets is at a Hungry Horse (The Hobson's Choice, Kettering), I have to say that we must be very fortunate with our experiences with this chain, we have always had a very positive experience, great staff, good value food (and very edible), and great value for money. That said, I could not believe how bad your food looked, I would not have even tried to eat that, it was truly appalling to look at (let alone eat!). Hope your lass is okay now, and not having nightmares of soggy onion rings & dry chips! Take care!

I have been to two Hungry Horse pubs near where I live and both have been disappointing tbh and I never returned to them again even though the staff were really good at both pubs which is a real shame and reflects badly for the company as a whole. Watching Paige having to clean the tables alone and seeing the dirt would have put me off completely from ordering any food at all from that venue. First impressions count imo because if the place isn't clean for the customers what is the kitchen like where the food is prepared and also are the cooking staff fully trained for preparing and cooking the food? I'm glad you both sent the food back and got your money back. Thanks for posting this video.

Hilarious as I’ve been here and it was bad then too. Been a few times oddly enough. They had a grand reopening last I went and it was exactly the same as before and sorta run down. They just put a bunch of crappy electronic screens on the wall and thought that was enough for a relaunch. Somewhat surreal seeing it in a video

Not been in the Snipe for about 10 years and it doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned since! Those sausages look like the cheap frozen ones from Aldi and I only feed those to my dogs as a treat! I was actually going to ask you whether it was comparable to the Palace and you bought it up (no pun intended), you should have just gone to that chap in the food "truck" in the industrial estate that you reviewed the other day. His kitchen was clean, his attention to detail superb and his burgers looked delicious 😋...and a great chap to boot. The Hungry Horse should learn from him, the food looked inedible.

Went here with friends on ‘Curry Wednesday’…..awful…..never going here again, they even managed to burn the poppadums🙈. Friend thought they’d left there eye glasses here I went back Approx 30 mins later on my return journey home and they still hadn’t cleared the table….asked staff if anyone had handed any eye glasses in…they said ‘why would they’ 🤷🏻‍♂️🙈….eye glasses weren’t here in end. Seems staff don’t care and that’s reflected also in the poor quality food.

That place is the last pub I would ever go in, only live 2minutes walk away and the last time I went in was around 5 years ago with much the same outcome! Food has always been microwave food and always had dirty, sticky table and chairs, a visit to the mens would normally reveal some lowlife would have a Tom Tit in the urinals instead of the toilet, very nice to be confronted with. Nice to see they haven’t changed much.

Badger Box at Annesley turned into a Hungry Horse years ago. Meals looked brill on paper, very reasonable price. It was rammed first week until folk sampled the food.. Shocking! Crap cheap pub food.

I get this 100% If a place is dirty, unclean it puts you off straight away 😕😕 Those sausages probably were left over from breakfast. But you go supposed cheap end (as eating out anywhere isn't cheap anymore) and you get cheap. Product, produce that looked unappetizing and cooking badly. I will state not all hungry horses are not like this, same as all chain restaurants are unfortunately not the same... We use a well known chain 'W' up the road as fantastic but the one in the next town is horrendous. Good on your daughter for not accepting it and asking for a refund, £25 is a lot of money to pay for bad food, 😢😢😢

Hi your experience mirrors exactly the very same we had at a hungry horse 9 Mike's from home, except when I complained the waitress started crying on my complaint, when I approached the manager to complain and ask for my money back as we paid on ordering, now know why...He refused to refund as we had eaten some and I upset the waitress! I can confirm I complained in a soft spoken manner and politely.. complained to head office in the car park and explained, head office refunded the whole cist..Hungry horse is shite and never will return to one knowingly... or the other similar Green King.. cheers lee

Hi Lee, Seeing as you have just had a very bad experience, may I offer a suggestion for a Sunday carvery, try The Hogs Head at Awsworth, you will need to book, but I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised by the cost, the food and the surroundings. My brother, sister in law and myself enjoy our Sunday lunch, and having tried a few local places we have decided that we'll just book here and not bother wasting our time and be disappointed eating else where. I don't work there, I'm not friends or related to anyone there, just enjoy good food and pleasant surroundings....highly recommend.

I like your daughters common sense, baby wipes around your eating area, anti bacterial. if these places were rated on hygiene alone probably a few under table swabs and toilet door swabs would gain them a warning to up their game. The staff are overworked and, in my experience it's the hygiene side that gets neglected. If your eating space is filthy, imagine what the kitchens could be like. I think she deserves a smashed burger or one of his breakfasts. That, (smashed burgers) was a smashing video. Onwards.

There is a hungry horse in Rhyl called the harbour, been there 3 times as we have a static caravan near there and they didn't have any cod on all 3 occasions I went so I couldn't have my fish and chips which is my favourite food, I ended up having a lasagne that was dry maybe all hungry horse franchises are worth avoiding, I left them a nice review on trip advisor.

You get what you pay for. I would not order what you had, but had other meals in the hungry horse in Dunstable, and really enjoyed it, always take the grandchildren in there, and they clear the plate and dessert 😊

Me, my partner and 5 month old baby went here a couple of weeks ago. I needed to warm my babies bottle but apparently can’t be trusted with hot water and had to leave my bottle at the bar. I wasn’t very happy with this as I don’t like leaving my babies food unattended. Then they locked the disabled toilet/baby change to be awkward. Also the toilets are really dirty! The worst 'meal' I ever had was chips and some horrible raw trout, with hard peas. Served in some shi**y resturant. I was drunk at the time and tried to eat it. I did eat some, but I threw up too. Not long after I decided I would never drink again. I vowed to have my senses, wits around me day and night. Best thing I ever did. Being sober 24/7 is a greater thrill. For me, at least. Cheers.

Hungry Horse food is the worst. The Wolds in West Bridgford is testament to this. Undercooked onion rings (as in still cold inside from being frozen) basically everything is frozen and the chicken is always over-cooked and rubbery. Sticky tables and questionable cleanliness with the cutlery. Just awful
