Even common pigeons have a super homing instinct. 20 to 30 miles away was no problem for them, even though it sometimes took them awhile!

if you want to see how amazing they really are. After you release write down time that you release them. Then you race home, when you and write the time you get to the loft. If you see any homing pigeons that you release from the Zebu Pasture in your loft . Well if they had arrived at the loft before you arrived home. You will be happy in your release process.

You have a nice loft. Only thing I would do is lower your trap door down flush with the landing board. The way you have it up like that makes it difficult to enter.

Are those 3 black and yellow birds you released into the aviary still in there?

Trained correctly and the correct type of racing pigeon they can fly 400-500 air miles my uncle has some of the fastest pigeons in the U.S. some of his birds average 70-80 mph to fly home to his huge pigeon coup. Years ago I had flights and helmet heads and they would fly back 40-50 miles back to my coup no problem.

If they have ID leg-ring or a address stamp on the wing feathers, you could get them back if caught by someone then they contact you. If they don't come back and have no form of ID, they are either food for predators or foundation stock for future feral pigeons.
