Here in Florida people go way offshore on their skis and get in serious trouble if something happens or mechanicsl issue. Over the years a few have never been found, ever. Always have a partner go to.

You should not eat King Mackerel. The fish is high in toxic mercury. I have caught the they put on a fabulous fight, but shouldn't be eaten. Be safe.

I’m gonna ask a stupid question I know. I’m not an offshore guy but I’d sure love to though. So, here’s the question. Your first fish was a Lane snapper. Then a Red snapper. They look a lot alike. What are the differences in the two and does the Lane count towards your bag limit of Red snapper.

A Lane Snapper has a spot on its side and stripes.. I'm originally from New Orleans and hardly ever caught a Lane Snapper but caught plenty of Red Snappers around the rigs in the Lake Borgne/ Mississippi Sound area..

Not a stupid question at all. Kane snapper have yellow lines that run horizontal down their body ( very beautiful fish ) they don’t count towards your red snapper limit but they do count towards your total reef fish limit

You might want to run a wire leader with haywire twist for those expensive lures. Use the smallest black barrel swivel you can find so they don’t hit that.
