His buoys got cut and lost all his pots. Who does stuff like that? People think they own the water. Good for you keeping those messages as a reminder to keep doing what you do. You’re a huge success. Regs are limiting seasons left and right. Climate change (whether you think it is man made or not) is really leading to yield problems when combined with all of their other pressures. Overfishing, pollution, sediment run off in the case of the Chesaepeke, etc. We had one of the lowest spawns of Strippers ever so they shut down the charters and commercial is in the future. As something like only 50% of fish caught from commercial end up on a plate.

Easy way to put the tire back on that type of axles is leave 2 bolts with the keepers in close to each other but loose them hang the tire. As for tightening them the best way I’ve found is when you look at it the spokes make a “v” tighten those 2 first and directly below the “v” tighten it first then the last 2 bolts. Those types of axles are used for mobile homes

Hi Luke , nice show of backbone ! F the haters and carry on regardless , when you pack the bearings , wipe the grease in from the wide side to the thinner side , so in the same direction as the rollers point and if you don't get grease all over you will see it come out from under the cage at the narrow end when that portion is packed so rotate a few degrees and wipe it till it comes out the other end, about a heaped tablespoon of grease should be enough for the inside of the bearing. Love your channel , best of luck to you and Lyndsay

I stopped fishing and went to work doing "repo" commercial fishing vessels and taking them back up to Seattle Washington. The pay was great, there was no labor, and I just had to navigate through big winter storms, which could be quite the adventure! Dangerously so! I never realized how much labor went into crabbing. Don't know if anyone has said or not, if so over look it. That axle set up is what is known as dayton hubs. Dayton hubs are stronger, but scare a lot of people off since they can be dangerous since tires do fall off if stuff isn't checked. But perfect for what you need. That being said an old farmers trick of tightening them up, sit a drink can on the ground at the bottom sidewall edge of the tire and spin it and slowly tighten the lugs all the way around. If it hits you have one side further out and it will wobble going down the road.

On the trailer, the bearings should be assembled in the drum with a "new seal" (if you want it to last) then installed back on the hub. Hope that helps. By the way, I have followed you for quite a while now and I must say you have an extraordinary way of getting things done "just" well enough to function.. So although I 100% approve of your bearing packing method, I seem to be compelled to tell you how to do something .. lol. The bearing cap should be filled with grease. This is handy in the off chance the bearing heats up for some absurd reason, the heat will melt the grease and it will run into the the actual bearing before it disintegrates and the flaming wheel rolls off into woods and causes a forest fire or burns someone’s house down. (Disclaimer I was never there and have a solid alibi)

I have a thought 🤔 what if you poder coat the crab pots if you find some used steel and make a big square box and make a fire box find small blowers so you can get the temperature 400°F for 30 minutes i know it stronger than paint and it last longer if you can find 6 4x8 steel you can make a 4'x8' box with a 2'x 2' fire box . I don't know how big your crab pots are if they would fit in a used electric oven you could use them BUT DON'T EVER USE THE OVEN TO COOK FOOD IN IT AFTER YOU POWDER COAT

Thinking about hawk, that pipe could possibly cut the rope over time as it's bobbing. Also I wonder if that fiberglass rebar would hold up better then PVC.

Use conduit instead of PVC , it's a little more expensive, but I bet if you go to an electricians warehouse, and buy bulk, it will probably come out close to equal. The conduit holds up thousand times better. I use to run a lobster boat outta NJ, and thats what I found out works thr best. And the conduit you can also heat up with a heat gun and bend etc.

Try flow guard guard gold cpvc water pipe it has different binders in the plastic its less likely to shatter allowing it to bend without breaking

I discovered that a brad point drill bit works really good for drilling pvc pipe.

On the grease cap on the trailer wheel I recommend adding grease in the cap that way keeps little extra grease in there

Bubba.. You had me cracking up. Lol. Keep on doing what you are doing. You seem like a hard worker and funny as hell. You are a true American. Don’t let others try to put you down. There are some ruthless assholes out there. Good luck with your crab fishing.

That being said. They wont rust until the paint is gone. And electrolysis is a funny thing. As long as the zinc is directly contacting the metal it will work. Covering them both shouldnt be bad

The grease matters make sure it high temp rated. Secondly pack bearing by sliding bearing across the barrels not over

If i lived down in maryland id apply to be a deckhand and check out what crabbing is all about.. evey company ive worked for my whole life from landscaping to delivering appliances. To construction everyone loved having me on they're crew cause i am an ASE certified mechanic and got burned out being a mechanic so i went into construction to be the guy that gets stuck maintaining all the equipment from the trucks to the trailers to the skid steers and excavator there hasnt been atleast. 1 time aweek im getting greasy instead of rehabing this house because the guys i work with seem to make sure they're trucks break down at work and in the way of parking our other trucks and trailer's

yank the axles off the dryvan trailer you have next to your painting set up they look like they have plenty of life left in them plus it makes the trailer easier to get in after u torch everything off and it sits flat on the ground like a container

Professional Painter Here. I never really though about what they use to paint crab pots. I started to do some research and seen it's a water base paint. Wouldn't it no be easier to tarp them up where they sit and just use a sprayer to spray all the crab pots?

The grey electrical conduit is a little more durable and has UV protection in it.
This NEEDS to get done BEFORE crabbing season
