Before all this quarantaine... I attended YCS Bochum, I had Fossil Dyna on the field and my opponent wanted to Kaiju it. I Kindly explained that he couldnt do it. Judge number 1 was called: fOsSil dYna cAn bE tRiBuTeD. Appeal: Judge nr 2: i AgrEe wItH jUdGe nR 1. I called the head judge cause at this point the palm of my head was reaching the backside of my cranium. I know I’m late to the party, but I also wanted to say that, before he attempted to use ash blossom, that he didn’t indicate that he wanted to respond. Instead of saying something like “thinking”, he stayed silent for 15 seconds and then declared ash. I don’t know if he was afk or just on his phone or whatever, but his inaction to say anything for 15 seconds PERIOD should have honestly been a red flag for the judges. I don’t know why they didn’t ask him why he didn’t say anything for 15 seconds.

Dueling Book is a tough platform. Most judges would rule that your opp has plenty of time and there are issues with flash player lagging, etc. It's best to say "think" in response to something.

Talking is important, but understanding the limitations of playing online is important. Irl, your opponent may stroke their chin for a second as their way of "thinking" and going straight into the deck as soon as you activate an effect probably wouldn't be tolerated.

So this is how I would interpret this: from your opponents view, he would see you exit the deck and assume you waited for response, as the deck doesn't obscure chat. However, despite the fact that their was a misunderstanding, I think it's not ridiculous to expect the common courtesy of someone to respond with at least a "think", and since he did not, it should be fair to decline an activation of ash.

He wasn't wrong in this case. This was a very technical problem and the judges handled it in a bad way. If the time for response is 15 or less second on dueling book rules then if the opponent doesn't chain anything is their fault, it doesn't matter if you stop for a second to read what they are saying, the effect already went through. Or would you say that if someone where to use Lightning Storm and you were already putting your spells and traps in the graveyard then you would be allowed to say "wait I had a counter for lightning storm within those spells!"

I mean it prevents more arguments down the line. If you think you have interruption, just say hold on. Like they can't fault you for thinking it over and learning interaction. Fifteen seconds is ample time to Ash or Veiler or whatever. The way the game works when you do an action you ask your opponet response. After the opponet has time to respond( in the game of yugioh you have roughly 30 secs in between actions to make a response) thats how it works at every local region and ycs. Head judge ruled with you simply just cause you both were ignoring rules.

@@Farfa in texas thats what the judges tell us the player. You draw your hand after 30 seconds make a action ask for a response. It can take up to 30 secs cause the player can check gy field and the card effs. This is dependent on what's available but you have time. Anything longer then that and its a violation of the slow playing rule we have in yugioh. Communication is key. In person to person its easier and quicker cause a hand gesture or a nod can qualify but its always safer to get a verbal response so that way issues like this doesnt happen. If this happened at a sanctioned event 9/10 times both players would probably get a warning and game state will reverse back to the original activation of dispute. And my final point is since it is a online someone silent for 15 seconds does not make it grounds for your eff to go off. Where i agree with you was the other player communicated poorly and the deck viewing argument the judges were trying to make made no sense and you were 100 percent correct on that.

There is no set time for making a play and there is no set time for thinking too long or too little. It's all contextual and based on the current gamestate. They are making things up, there's nothing in the policy about this.

Just bull rushing yourself through a play cause you deem you have given enough time doesnt make it consent. If this was a serious duel we both know youd wait for verbal consent or call judge for slow play.
