They deserve to be punished. Word of advice for everyone: Don’t get too cocky on what you think you can or can’t do if you haven’t been properly trained, because then you’ll end up like Yuka. The father also doesn’t deserve any sympathy for basically being an airhead who won’t even go as the PRESIDENT to try and take care of the deal after his daughter messed it up. Sato made the right choice by leaving that failure of a company and moving to a better one with all his former colleagues. Let this be a lesson for those two dummies that tried to think they could get away with what they did.
