From what I've read about various witch trials throughout history, torture really isn't effective in getting accurate information. It IS effective in getting the prisoner to say what they need to say to get the torture to stop.
@theogbunn76723 жыл бұрын
That's true if you're just torturing someone to get them to give you whatever information they happen to have, like probing without knowing what your looking for. Most of the time though they are asking about specific things that they have very good reason to believe the person knows, and in those cases they tend to get what they're looking for. If the person actually has the information they want, when the time comes that they're going to give up information it's alot more likely that they'll tell them the actual information they do have than a made up version of it. If the question is "did Mike sell weapons/sensitive information to the enemies?" The question indicates in itself that there is an answer the questioner already wants, and that's not really the kind of shit they'd torture someone to find out. "who sold weapons/information to the enemies?" Would be more accurate, and though sometimes they just make up a name. if know the actual name, by the time they're willing to answer at all they're so mentally exhausted and distraught they'd probably just tell the truth rather than make something up. They wouldn't be asking for a confirmation of information they already had either, if they already thought Mike was the one selling weapons or info they wouldn't torture someone to get a second opinion. And if it turns out to be a lie they just go back and do it again, which the individual knows is gonna happen. It's a messy business, and doesn't always turn out good information but they wouldn't do it if it didn't work most of the time.

SHE was the “good cop.” She didn’t state whether she ever did things to people, but her angle was highly psychological. She would empathize with them, find ways to laugh with them, and generally challenge their thinking like “nahhh i don’t think you’re a BAD PERSON. I think you’re just passionate about your country.” She said many of her detainees were very young men, boys really, like 16-21 years old. It was interesting. When I see or hear about this stuff, it makes me think about how seriously the American people took it when their "home soil" was attacked on 9-11. There was immediate outrage and demand for vengeance against people who would dare to do this to "'Murikans"! It was simply incomprehensible that it should be considered anything less than a war crime. Yet pretty much everything this guy describes is a war crime, but it's okay because he and his fellow torturers are Americans and it's for the "greater good" or for the security of America? Imagine the outrage if these things were being done, for example, by North Koreans to American citizens, whether they were civilians or military personnel! There would be hell to pay! It's disgusting to me that this kind of stuff is sanctioned by the U.S. government, the U.S. military, and/or the American public. It's okay because it's not American citizens being tortured?

The military brainwashes people, the same way that a cult would. War is disgusting. EVERYONE thinks they’re on the right side, that’s the thing. Every single one of those people was somebody’s child. Had people that loved them. How is it any different from what they are doing? It’s NOT.

I read the Senate report on torture and theres one section that always stuck with me. It’s a quote from the CIA personnel carrying out the enhanced interrogation. - “Today’s first session had profound effect on all staff members present. It seems the collective opinion that we should not go much further. Everyone seems strong for now, but if the group has to continue, we cannot guarantee how much longer. Several on the team profoundly affected. Some to the point of tears and choking up.” people who justify the use of torture typically do it out of a sense of patriotism or because they correlate criticism of its use with being unappreciative of the military or ignorant of the ways of war. But perhaps the critics who are more concerned with what this would do to the people who have to carry it out represent a more genuine form of patriotism with a more rational perspective on the nature of war.

Sounds a lot like the plot for ‘The Report’ he uses all of the terms from that movie and not a whole lot more. I realize if this is true it probably has caused him a lot of turmoil but something seems off.

I honestly think he is self medicating throughout this interview...I could be wrong but in the beginning I thought I heard him pop a can and put it on a table. If this is true then I don't blame him. If he is drinking that might explain why he seems off?

In war there are thousands of lives at stake. Knew someone who trained Iraqi soldiers. Talk about a mind F-ck! Knowing you built rapport & trained those soldiers, only for them to use that training to kill you (a US soldier) on the opposing side. He had PTSD for years.

Idk... Something is off. Kinda sounds like he was lying about being there/doing that. Maybe he was a janitor there or just repeating what he was told or even just looked up online or what he saw in a movies
@J-B-P3 жыл бұрын
A janitor lol do you think it’s a middle school? The people who clean up the mess would be just as knowledgeable about the torture as the people doing it. They’re all soldiers and special agents. They don’t just let anyone witness that.

I don't normally say anything but there's just something wrong with this, it's off.... the way he speaks and explains things doesn't seem real. It sounds rehearsed and thought up. I'm sure he was in the military but this guy hasn't tortured anyone. He clears his throat after harder questions as a distraction to give himself some time to think of his answer. It looks like he's read a lot online and has some fantasy in his head. This feels like the guy at work that makes up stories to try and fit in or make people think he's cool or something, it doesn't feel authentic. The military words and how he uses them feels forcesd. He could be telling the truth but there's way too many red flags to ignore.

@@shannonburke5565 true, but like if this got out and the military found out he was openly talking about this, would there not be an investigation?
@wowspiffy3 жыл бұрын
@@carlytwopointoh Sure but how do you prove anything? He could have given Joe and Greg a fake name and email. What he spoke of wasn’t too deep in terms of general knowledge, he didn’t name any specific commanders or people. I don’t think the military could do anything beyond just deny it.
@Humanh8red3 жыл бұрын
@@shannonburke5565 it’s google-able which means that it’s true. Therefore, it’s true? Now If he was talking about something that didn’t align correctly with a google definition or vice versa, then I’d be suspicious. But since it’s accurate you cannot prove on that basis alone that this is fake. He knows definitions therefore he is 99.9% credible. No way to prove fake.

I was 9 years old when I first saw footages of the US military torturing and abusing these innocent people; and the fucked up thing is they did it with amusement and pleasure. The videos and the pictures haunted me for life and gave me nightmares. Look up Abu Ghraib in Iraq if you still live under a rock (and MANY others of course). As for this guy, I hear ZERO sympathy in his voice!!
