@Lookup2Wakeup you could get into an Iconic at that if you can live without the extras of the GT Line, there are some slightly older/higher mileage GT Lines around but for an approved used car from a main dealer in such good condition it’s probably worth the extra.

Nice buy. Great price, practical, hatchback and cheap to run. We bought a 27 month old ID.3 1st Edition with less than 12,000 miles in March. It was a p/ex with a BMW dealer and had sat in their yard doing nothing for about 3 months. At the time the price was truly excellent and they added an extra 6 months warranty onto the 9 months VW warranty remaining. The battery obviously has it's longer warranty. Folk have been telling me that the used EV market has crashed and that I overpaid but when I Google I find that I still got a decent deal 5 months later. Very happy. I am happy with what we got and we do intend to keep the car for the long term so it all makes sense. And the icing on the cake? Currently giving 298 miles range or over 5 miles/kWh. Less than 3 pence per mile ...

Congrats to your Renault ZOE, after a year of drinving one, I still have a big smile on my face when entering and leaving the car, it is an excellent BEV and it is a bit sad that not that many people want to own one today. It is still one of the best options for a smaller car that has a very good range.

I put mine in the garage overnight and use a granny charger, gets me enough on the off-peak, not that I commute with it. Trips to Scotland are close for me, where charging is quite cheap. 22kW charging can save long waits in service areas if the Gridserve chargers are full. Planning the journey to South has improved with Gridserve's rollout of bigger chargeparks too. You'll benefit from the GT Line additions my Iconic doesn't have. I like my now 2 year old Zoe as a driver's car. I hope you enjoy yours too😁😁😁

I got a free Chargemaster charger with my Zoe in 2020. It it is just a dumb charger, so all charging is controlled by the Zoe which is during off peak hours with Octopus Go. It is a simple cheap solution as I have no need for complicated charging regimes.

Superb choice I think. Bearing in mind what you said about the n-cap ratings only really being lower due to Renault skimping on one of the airbags, I think the Zoe would be competitive if they fixed that and fitted 100kW+ charging to them. Oh, and I'd prefer the front lights of the original car too! The reality though is that Zoe ends production soon to be replaced by the new 5. RIP Zoe, welcome new 5! Interesting that comment by someone about 'how long for your home charger to pay for itself'? Strange one that, and one I've not heard before. I'd be willing to bet though that the person has an ICE car (or some different gadget) that costs much more than they needed to pay for adequate transport. How long before the extra outlay on that pays for itself?
@ModernHeroes
@ModernHeroes Жыл бұрын
It’s normally EV owners that say it! The hard core of skinflints who rely on the granny charger for all of their home charging rather than getting a proper unit installed because of said “payback period”.

@@ModernHeroes Oh wow, is that right? I was lucky I suppose, I got a grant towards mine and didn't get a granny cable with my Zoe. The price of a Renault 13 amp was not much less than fitting the charger. My current car has the trickle charger though so I get the best of all worlds now.

I have a Peugeot e-208 GT, there are several things that I wasn't aware of before buying the car and I'm not quite sure how the manufacturers get away with making such false claims. When I bought the car last year, on a full charge the range was reported as 216 miles, however drive just a couple of miles down and this drops by at least 30 miles. The range reported at switch on and the published range could just have been anything they like, however its rubbish, the actual mileage and range you get is nothing like that, also there are obvious other factors like the mileage reported drops depending on the way you drive, so unless you keep your foot off the accelerator you aren't going to get anything close to the reported range. Also after having owned the car for over a year and having done over 29,000 miles the charge now doesn't report 216 miles anymore, but 193, which again isn't accurate because as I said above the same applies and this drops considerably after just a few miles. Something else I wasn't aware of is that the actual charging is effected by outside air temperature, so when its colder your charging range is much less, when its warmer you get a better charge. Apart from these issues I love the car, its so much fun to drive.
@ModernHeroes

Manufacturers have a long way to go in the way they advertise and sell EVs, that’s for sure. Peugeot have a good calculator on their website that shows information on “real world” range but I bet most buyers never get told about it….

I looked at the Zoe GT Line a couple of years back when I needed to switch out of my 30kWh Leaf. But, even though I'm a pretty regular-shaped guy, because there was no seat height adjustment, nor 'reach' adjustment for the steering wheel, I simply couldn't get a comfortable driving position... in fact, after only about 45 minutes of driving, I had the most intense aching over my shoulders...! So, nope... the Zoe soon got dropped for my shortlist. 🤥

@@ModernHeroes ok interesting. I'm probably going for a used e208. Looked at Zoe's but just a little boring.. But for me the e208 range is enough, I can see for you it may be a pain.

@@ModernHeroes Yes. Zoe drove fine but as you say the e208 is a better driving car. Personally I prefer the e208 interior but it's totally subjective. I live in a warm climate so at least 200+km range even in "winter". But if I had to do lots of driving in UK winter is would not make the list. Oh and 100kw charging helps if I do some longer journeys.

We traded in our 65 plate 22kwh Zoe for an MG ZS EV, after a string of big repair bills. I much prefer the drive of the Zoe and really miss it. The ZS is OK, and more practical for a family with teens and a dog, but I don't think I'll miss it when I trade it in for something else.

Does the Zoe allow you to set start and stop charging times? I have a older non smart charger... don't really want to set my alarm for 2am

Yeah you can schedule charging in the app as well as in the car, I believe. Haven’t tried yet mind.

@@ModernHeroes In car charge set up is great. I have set the same times for every day, so that it goes past midnight. More direct that way. I never got the app loaded anyway. I've only done a pre-heat once, not much point I feel. On the Motorway, charging at 50ish percent is desired to avoid prolonged waiting around. Sometimes the M5 services have been full, so that sort of puts desired charge out of the window. M6 charging has been getting better and more success.

Bit dramatic - there are far more unsafe cars out there (and I’ve driven a lot of them!) amazing how much influence NCAP has though.

@@MarkSmith-lu7ly right, so it’s much less safe than it was in 2013 because the test is different 🤪. Nonsense. I do wonder how some people manage to leave the house, the stress of all of the things that could happen to injure/kill you whilst walking down the road must be too much.
