I go to the Lobo Carrasco BJJ Academy in El Progreso, Honduras, to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a martial art that specializes in joint locks and chokes and known as the best self-defense system in the world. To show us the effectiveness of Jiu Jitsu, instructor Raúl Carrasco lets me fight "anything goes" style against one of his students and assures me that he would beat me without throwing a single punch or kick.
After the fight, Raúl teaches me various techniques such as the arm bar and triangle choke. At the end, he gives me a challenge: if I manage to survive fights against 4 students (including a 14-year-old champion girl and a 300-pound giant), the Canela y Trigo bakery will give me a basket of semitas and 200 blocks for a school that we are building in Mangandy, El Progreso. And after all, Raúl surprises me and challenges me to fight him with a very crazy condition. He has to fight blindfolded. Will I survive today's challenge? Let's find out together.
Thank you Raul Carrasco, Cross Gym, and Lobo Carrasco BJJ Academy for allowing me to train with the team.
