Hooray you're back. Nice to see you back on KZbin. I do like the new Glasgow Subway 3rd Generation trains. Perhaps you should do Avanti West Coast Class 805 that some are now in service and the Class 807 that is due to enter service next year.

Nice to see you back on KZbin. I think that the new Glasgow Subway 3rd Generation trains do look amazing as they have been built by Stadler. I think that Stadler could do the same with building new Bakerloo Line tube trains to replace the 1973 Stock.
@Anonymoususer_8823Ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Since Stadler built the new Glasgow Subway trains. They could be interested in building new Bakerloo Line tube stocks as the Bakerloo Line needs a massive upgrade.
@Andrewjg_89Ай бұрын
Maybe wait and see if Stadler are the preferred bidders to manufacturer the new Bakerloo Line tube stocks.

I wonder if the museum’s Tesla is notable for being one of the rare examples that hasn’t caught fire.

A very good book to get, from 1996, probably on Ebay, is "Circles under the clyde", by John Wright and Ian Mclean. Published in the centenary year of the Subway, it tells the story of the construction, operation, and rebuilding of the subway, and includes numerous black and white, and colour photographs. And, Partick station is the newest station on the subway. Opened in 1980, following the modernisation, which saw the system closed from 1977-1980, it replaced Merkland Street, which was close by. Partick was built, to provide interchange with BR, and it would've been impossible to build shafts for the escalators, under the embankment, had Merkland Street been retained.

i'm planning to go to birmingham (from london) and ride sone trains there (stourbridge shuttle is of course a must) next summer for a day, and i didnt think it was possible to do much in one day, until this...

You could've flown and had more time in Glasgow. The flight between London and Glasgow is about an hour
@ZLDSmoglessАй бұрын
Good to see you back! I'm thankful you got to ride the (far superior) older trains at some point in the past. I personally find the new ones disappointing and now the Subway just isn't the same anymore. Did you get to see any of the 1st gen stock at the transport museum?

This is something I'd love to do, money permitting! I've been to Glasgow a few times and I've travelled on the old Glasgow Subway once, but I haven't been on the new one yet. How much did your return ticket to Glasgow cost?

Nice little film, my friend - but nine hours on Avanti - ouch! Scottish people are generally not in such a hurry as you Londoners. We give ourselves sufficient time to get to where we're going without having to do too many Usain Bolt impressions - you really ought to try it, you know... Come to think of it, I'm not sure that anybody is in such a hurry as you Londoners - and what's the point of using an escalator if you're planning to walk up, anyway? 😁 Hence, it doesn't really matter where we stand on escalators - as standing, and not walking, on them, is what most people think they're for anyway!!
