I'm back with another China adventure! In this video we video a city in northeastern China with a bit of a Russian flare. I'm referring to Harbin City, the capital of Heilongjiang Province.
I did a video about Harbin in the winter, so this time I wanted to show you what it looks like during the summer. If you didn't see my other Harbin video, you can watch it here: • Chinese City with a St...
If you visit Harbin there's no doubt that you'll end up going for a stroll down Zhongyang Pedestrian Street (中央大街) which will lead you to the always beautiful Songhua River (松花江).
I hope you all enjoyed this video and I look forward to communicating with you whether it's here in the comments section or on my Patreon page. Link to my Patreon page is here: / chopsticksandtrains

My wife and I were in Harbin a few weeks before you - early August. Its an interesting city as you say. We didn’t know there was a footbridge across the Songhua River otherwise we would have walked it. Harbin Station is very nice architecturally and we missed out passing through it as we used Harbin West Station instead. After visiting Harbin, we went to Yanji and that city is well worth a visit if you’re able to get over there in the few weeks Mr Chopsticks. Yanji and the surrounding area my wife and I definitely want to make a second visit.

Hey there! Yes, that was my first time walking across the footbridge. Great way to spend an afternoon! As for Yanji, I did a video on Yanji City a while back, I also have a video on Tumen as well. I'd like to get out there and revisit Hunchun City. Happy travels sir!

What's the atmosphere like these days? I've heard that COVID put a damper on the city, and a lot of residents moved south. Has it recovered yet?

It's still pretty much the same old Harbin, just minus 'foreigners'. Hardly see any non-Chinese.

Well, hopefully you can get back for a visit soon - sounds like you are very homesick. This is a common experience for many people who are nnew to traveling or who just moved away from home for the first time.

Don't think there's a way to get there via subway... I just went there last week with my family and had to do so by car. Maybe u can use "didi" (ride sharing app) or taxi. The place itself is in a rather rural/isolated feeling area.
Harbin - Is this REALLY China?
