What does $250 Of K Beauty Get You? (Testing New Korean Skincare Bestsellers of 2023) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn3Yi2Nmo7Brl8k Yo. *My credit card is still being scammed. Hard drives crashed. And our team is stronger because of this project* Butterflies. When I tell you this video was a project, I actually mean that it was a mammoth of an undertaking that we wayyy underestimated estimated. People who clicked on this see a two hour video. What thru don’t see is the 5 months that took to make this happen. *I just want to take the time to share a few fun behind-the-scenes things that this video wasn’t able to cover.* Number one, the cleanser reactions kept getting worse. At my face just did not have it. Yes - my credit card has been charged *since the ~unique~ situation* and after multiple times of trying to call and cancel, I get forwarded into a loop of voicemails and numbers that do nothing. ☎️ I haven’t been able to cancel my subscription or even log back into the website. The website sans you on an endless loop of not being able to cancel your purchase without filling out some sort of a form. But you can’t access the form unless you have a cancellation number or some 💩 . It’s a nightmare and I have resorted to calling my credit card company 🙃 Also yes, my breakouts have gotten worse. It’s been great.🥳 There is also an entire *three weeks of video footage missing from this piece that was supposed to be included.* 😢 We had yet another hard drive crash and a laptop down. There was a beautiful set of videos that included the initial unboxing, and the struggle of getting these products in the mail. *Telling “Skincare nighttime stories” to the team, and actually introducing some of the team members on camera.* ❤️Unfortunately all of this first impressions content from the unboxing and testing perspectives got deleted through this fluke accident crash; even when putting it through recovery software we were unable to resurrect it. 💔A sad day in the life of our creative hearts, but we decided to move on and continue with the project, just omitting those pieces. Since we under took this video, *two of the brands actually reached out for sponsorships which I think is hilarious.* 😂I ended up accepting one of the sponsorships from my favorite line which you will see in the coming days. 🎉 It’s a really genuine fit based on sustainability and we are doing something fun for Earth Day. 🌍 The other sponsorship… Well… You will see what their product did to my face. Maybe I will tweet about that because it is absolutely hilarious. 🐦 Also, *one of the “mix yourself” products* now has started to change color and looks like it is expired. Although the packages say that it should still be good, it looks like it’s going rancid. I will keep us updated. 🧫 I also spent time being a human door dash with video files. 🙄 This project is so large that our upload and download speeds couldn’t handle it hhsghkpjhvllhlvl. I am so grateful to be working with an amazing team of creative, dedicated, skin care obsessed, acne warriors and inspired people. 🦋*I love them like siblings and this project has pushed us all to our limits, tested our strength -and sleep schedules- but has shown us how to work through computer crashes and deleted files throughout all of this.* 💪🏽 At the very end it has made us closer and truly appreciate the major amount of time, effort, and dedication that goes into what we do. We would not bend to this the way we do if we did not absolutely love it, and truly, collectively, believe in the over arching messages of skin empowerment, education, and inspiration that we work to provide. ✨ Dudeee, we could not have done this without Julia. 💚 I know you see her in the comments here, but you literally do not understand she is my right hand and the left side of my brain. 🧠 She pulled over 3 all nighters to help us get this video done. She works tediously on everything from being in the video to helping me argue with credit card companies to the added to adding sound effects and visuals. 📷 Almost all of the visuals you see in this video (and most others on the channel!) are things to her hard work and dedication. *She truly believes in inspiring other people through education and entertainment to love their skin, save their money where they can, and make ethical choices that are good for your face in the long run.* ❤️Her actions show this and I have forced her to take days off because this girl will not have a meal or take a bathroom break if she is not reminded to. 🤯 She works that hard and this would be impossible without her. Legit this channel would not exist without her. 🤗 I also have to give epic thanks to our video editing, graphics, and audio teams. They all pulled through for this. I will say it another 5000 times- managing such large files is insane, and what you see is two hours. We legit had over 200 hours of footage and multiple, multiple months of experiences to try to condense into this piece of content. ⏰ *We have legit been working on this since 2020* If it weren’t for our video editors, T & P, this story never would have come to life. If it weren’t for our amazing audio person, P, this could not have happened either. If it weren’t for the amazing people who help to manage the team, support us emotionally (hi therapists lol) and keep us moving forward, such as J, M, K, G, T, S, and J, this video, and this ENTIRE KZbin channel would not be possible. 💜 *It’s insane to be working alongside people who care about this and are just as invested in it as I am.* 😭 It’s proof that what happens here is not “normal.” This is an incomparable expression of community; it is education, it is transparency and empowerment. *It is about a mission that goes far beyond just one person and their skin.* 💕 It is about THIS skincare-obsessed community, and of course a bit of cosmetic chemistry. 😉 I am so proud and honestly relieved to finally be able to bring this video to you. *And it wouldn’t be possible without them, or your amazing comments and stories and emails that get us through our hardest days.* 🥰 I hope you know that we legit screenshot the comments underneath these videos and share them with each other. *We recognize the same beautiful butterflies who show up to our live streams, we know you by name and even chat with you face-to-face on discord or Instagram live.* I hope you know that when we get your emails, hear your stories, and see your before and after skincare photos, we cry along with you. 💜🦋 *If it weren’t for YOU, myself, and the rest of this team wouldn’t have the passion and drive to wake up the way we do every day.* Or just… Stay up until insane hours of the night to get these videos uploaded to share with you, every day 😂 So I’m forcing the team to get some sleep and take a few days off. They tell me I have to lead by example and I roll my eyes in a snarky way but then kinda agree. 🦋 *Thank you beautiful butterflies for creating a space where we can explore and understand skin together. Thank you for creating a space where we can embrace our cutaneous tissue, see our flaws as features, and realize how much deeper this stuff goes than just skin deep. I love you; goodnight.* 🦋 😴

My mom is a Younique ambassador 😔 I’ve told her many times she is getting scammed and that it’s an MLM but she doesn’t really seem to care because her and her friends like their products... I’m so so glad I grew up with KZbin/internet and was able to research skincare and formulate my routine from the perspectives of many different people! That is why *some* middle aged women get roped into these things. They didn’t have that. My mom used to order me one of their mascaras and while it provided great thickening and length, I have 4 layers of eyelashes that are naturally pretty long and semi hooded eyes, so if a mascara flakes for me like all of theirs did it is an absolute NIGHTMARE.

@@MsTammi125 Very true. Her daughter has most likely mentioned the issues on more than one occasion. I guess the reason she has kept going is her mother doesn't realise how harmful MLM's are. I've noticed that the older generation use the excuse of that's how I do it, when they continue harmful or not so helpful practices. I've had genuine arguments with my mother trying to explain to her that our Hermann Tortoise should not be using beech chipping's, due to how harmful they are. But she doesn't listen as "he's been using it for years" and "he likes it". He knows nothing else so of course he is fine with it. Same with our dogs, years I've argued about proper training and until a problem arises, they suddenly think what I said is a good idea. They would be little demons if I hadn't been the "bad guy". It's never the right timing either, or they don't have enough time to try it. I get genuinely annoyed and angry when they don't listen to my advice that has been proven time and time again, as being right. Sorry if that got a little aggressive and personal, I think I needed to vent out my frustrations!

You'd think, but MLM's are old and so is the internet. My sister had a friend who was in Amway and I found an ancient article about how evil they were from literally 1997 and gave it to her to show it to him. (He didn't care, which is sad.) The info has been out there for a looooong time, it's just now finally saturated our public consciousness.

As someone that works in dermatology both as a Medical Assistant for Medical dermatology and Aesthetic dermatology. Nothing hits me in the gut harder than when a Mom brings in a teen with severe cystic acne and that child is clearly suffering on every level. So we start asking what the teens been using, taking, or procedures performed and the mom pops off with “We have done it all even the super expensive stuff like *Insert any random MLM* Which I think worked great but they said they didn’t like It.” So when we ask the poor child what worked and what didn’t and they proceed to explain how all their Moms friends and even their own Mom had them using Rodan & Fields, Younique, and every crappy MLM these women were peddling that current week. The poor kid talks of burning, redness, swelling, extreme irritation, skin flaking, worsening break outs, oilier skin, and much much more (some worse some just annoying and unnecessary!) often the poor kids get choked up, shy, or can barely explain what they are experiencing because they are just miserable and scared to trust another regimen. Also the mom is usually talking over them and saying that it wasn’t the products fault their child had a reaction 🤨 I can’t handle it! I have literally asked in my nicest work voice one Mom “when she began to swell and told you her face was burning and itching all over you just told her to keep using the products? Ok yea so I am going to assume you are a doctor and had a plan for that because you are lucky she didn’t get an infection or wasn’t having a deadly allergic reaction!!” I hate people that peddle MLM’s period. It’s like they drank the Cool Aid loved it so much and want the world to drink it and die while they sell leggings and mascara 😒

yes absolutely!!! 1 fl oz for $50-70?!?!?! and can it really be called custom if thousands of other ppl all end up with exactly the same set that you do based on having the same answers to their quiz? there are so many brands and so many products nowadays that there are a multitude of products for any given skin concern you could possibly have. you can pretty much create your own "custom" skincare routine/product set just by doing some research into the ingredients you need and then picking out what you want. yeah it does take time to find good quality + trustworthy info on which brands are good and what actives your skin needs but to me that's worth not paying almost a hundred freaking dollars for what is literally, like you said, a travel size!!!!!! marketing + advertising really can be effective.

Hey Colleen! Sorry we missed this- thanks for your feedback. We do our best to create the safest and most effective formulations, while keeping it affordable for you. We are only able to achieve this as we are a direct-to-consumer brand, which gives us the ability to cut down costs of all middlemen and overheads that would typically be incurred due to a physical store. Our products range between $25-$38 USD, delivering high quality formulations that would otherwise cost over $200 per product. By combining 6-10 Swiss actives in each formulation, we're able to take care of all your skin needs with a minimalist and sustainable routine. That also means you save on time and money :) (And in case you're wondering that combining more actives is unsafe - don't worry, we stay away from harsh actives and super high concentration of actives that damage the long-term skin health)

I have a beef with that age range thing. All these little age ranges of ten years then .. 50+. Hello, a 50 year old's skin is nothing like an 80 year old's skin. Or a 70 year-old's. Or a 60 year-old's. Honestly, ageism reigns in the beauty industry and it's highly obvious they don't really think anyone over 50 cares anymore (we do) and that there's very little knowledge or care to find out about the fact that women don't suddenly end up with one type of skin the moment they pass 49 years old. We're a fucking afterthought the moment we're in our 40s for the most part. But hit 50 and the marketing just ignores or insults you with its ignorance and dismissiveness. It's massively insulting and offputting to a huge swathe of women who HAVE MONEY TO SPEND (often way more than the demographic they aim at) and care about how we look, despite not being in the socially sanctioned 'hot' category anymore. I honestly wouldn't buy from a company that lumps women in into a FIFTY YEAR age category. You know the Queen of England is 95 today and has amazing skin, and uses skincare? Probably quite different skincare from me at 50, but apparently we're all the same. Hah!

@@juliagreen423 Thanks! It's insane business wise because older women are often THE most loyal brand customers. We've figured out our preferences and needs and if a product works for us, we tend to stick with it. However, there are definitely changes that come with our changing hormonal profile and we sometimes need to adjust our skincare as this happens. Some women get drier skin, or see it thin a lot. Others experience a lot more oiliness around peri-menopause or menopause. Some start to experience more redness. There's a whole market there, both for product and brand loyal customers and ones looking around to address new and emerging issues and needs. Yet all we see at most for 50+ women is 'anti ageing' products, as if all we could possibly be concerned with is looking younger (as in, eliminating lines), not making our skin less painfully dry or annoyingly oily, and the anti ageing stuff is mostly total shit, as we all know there are only two real ingredients that work - sunscreen and retinols. The again, even anti ageing is aimed at very young women these days, or women in their 30s/40s at the highest. It's really interesting hitting 50 and seeing oneself basically disppear from various brands demographic.

There are rumors that the "Momager" Kris Jenner will be making her own skincare line targeted at older demographics. But given the shady past of the Jenner-Kardashian crew with their skincare lines...i'd be wary. It is something that one could keep an eye out on though, for the sake of investigating and see if it's a cash grab (which it probably will be given who is releasing the line), or if Kris Jenner actually cares about skincare for her demographic.

Mixing a truly custom formula for individual customers would be a logistically impossible nightmare at a contract manufacturer and would cost the company so much money in manufacturing, you certainly wouldn’t be paying $50 per product. Not that a contract manufacturer exists that would even do this.
@frankaw7607
@frankaw7607 3 жыл бұрын
I think when it comes to the actual customization part, it’s never truly gonna happen unless you pay thousands of dollars to a formulator. Brands have to do stability testing with everything they do, if they were actually blending something specific for every customer, they’d have to test countless formulas and that’s not cost effective. You’ll always end up getting the same four/five options, possibly with a different smell or dye to it (e.g. function of beauty). But it’s appealing to the customer.

Hi Franka, sorry we missed this! Happy to explain how personalisation works at Yours (you'll find this on our website as well as we believe in being completely transparent with our customers) At Yours, we create formulations with customers at the front and center of product creation. The active ingredients from Yours’ ever-evolving ingredient dataset are mapped to create a personalised skincare regimen based on the user's skin, lifestyle, and environment. We have a library of products that are formulated based on data trends of skin, lifestyle and environment combinations. Every formulation needs to go through 4 months of safety and efficacy testing to comply with European cosmetic regulations, so each bottle is not a custom product, but we focus on personalization of the regimen to get the right customer-product fit. Our image processing technology and backend algorithm for mapping the skin profiles to products is how we remove the guesswork in finding the right skincare products for users. These products are formulated with different combinations of over 1000 active ingredients from Switzerland :) The truth is that cosmetic regulations across many countries don’t even allow individual customisation of skincare products as each formulation has to be notified to the regulatory authorities. More importantly, even if it were allowed, we fundamentally don’t believe it is safe for use or effective without stringent testing.

We living in a world where everything is mostly glamorized by marketing and short attention spans and women and especially young woman are buying into the hype. When it comes to your skin, you gotta pay a little attention. Atleast know your ingredients and your skin. There is clinics like mine where you can come in a and have your skin professionally analyzed both by an aesthetician and a high tech computerized skin analyzer. With no obligation to make an appointment or use our variety of brands. We just want woman and men to know their skin. Because they target women who are lonely (military wifes) or in very very 'traditional' relationships and/or LDS. It's the little bit of freedom these women are allowing themselves without going against what they have been taught. It's all 'you can do this on the side' (while you take care of the kids), 'you don't have to leave the house' (so you don't come in contact with people that are other than you), 'it's a side hustle' (so you don't do 'real' work like your hubby), 'you are your own boss' (but the structures are familiar as is the concept of what independence means in their cultural settings).

I lost a friend to Younique makeup. Once she got into it, all she would ever do is reach out when she needed products to be sold. She'd prime you up with sweet talk and empty platitudes about how much money and independence one could gain if they were to jump on board, and promises of free products if they'd just host a party. Not only that, the only time she would post anymore was live chats of her applying this makeup... Which was horrificly gawd awful.... And begging for people to host a party for her. She turned into a completely different person, became physically and emotionally unavailable to even her closest of loved ones... And it just got to the point that nobody wanted to talk to her anymore, since everytime they tried it would just be a sales pitch. I didn't know they had a skincare line... But I wouldn't purchase based on the limited information I have about their other line.

Thank you for putting yourself through this for all of us. I tried proven and needed some honest review somewhere to help me justify the price point. And I thought it was just me that hated the day cream for leaving me feeling greasy even with just applying two pumps. I’ll stick to my basic Cerave products.

Your dedication and the team’s endless months/days/hours of hard work cannot be appreciated enough! Thank you for putting yourself on the front line of skin care for your KZbin family and bringing so much truth to the industry. If I’m looking at a new product your videos are the first place I go to see if you have talked about it. Thank you for your effort, creativity, and openness. Because of you I am taking a closer look at my own skin care, the companies I support, and the ingredients in my products. Thank you from one Bay Area cyst-ter to another! Sending much ❤️🌈

Me: eating dinner completely hypnotized by this video An ex-coworker tried to get me roped into younique.. MY PEEPS! run. Oh damn, that sunscreen made you go full "sick Victorian child who will not make it through the winter".. This is why I use virtual credit cards when I buy stuff online but I'm not sure if I trust the website..

So sad that Yours doesn't ship to Europe at the moment :( Fingers crossed that it starts soon as I would definitely like to try their products! Thank you so much for the detailed review :)

@@lovefromyours in Italy, maybe I missed it on your website but I think you are only shipping to UK, Switzerland and Austria currently, right? This is what I saw on your website: "We currently ship to Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Austria, the UK, the US (yes, all 50 beautiful states) and Canada."

Thank you all your work on this video. I have a lot of friends who have been scammed into MLM’s. I got pushed HARD by some friends to buy Younique products but I couldn’t support that trash.

I literally screamed no! When I watched the part about youniqe.....then I read the pin comment..... this company is so bad... as horrible as an MLM is that is the least of their offenses

I just want to say thank you and apologize for a crappy comment I left a year ago about you criticizing someone’s skin care routine. I’m going to blame it on a bad mood. I don’t remember what it was about but I appreciate your videos. :)
