Great video as usual! For me the Daniella tool prevents wrist, back and neck pain. I can use a lap frame propped up while sitting & listening to music or videos. It is just the right pace for me.. faster than punch needle but not fast, loud & vigorous like the tufting gun. I'm probably your oldest viewer. I remember the latch hooked rug craze when I was a little girl.😊

Have you ever tried rug hooking? I just learned about it and started because you can use a crochet hook. You can also use fabric strips from old clothes/sheets. I'm really enjoying it so far and would love to see what you could create!

This is so helpful! Could you also compare the kinds of yarn available to the average consumer? I noticed at a thrift store there were a few skeins spcifically labelled for rug making, I was wondering if there was any notable difference to normal knitting yarn. Apologies if this something youve already talked about!

I don't know why I haven't found you before. Great video. I am looking to get into rug making. I am starting with the punch needle. Did the latch hook, years ago, when my kids were small ,it was the craze. Not a fan of latch hook ,so I thought I would do ,punch needle and rag rug making. The old crafts from bygone eras fascinate me. I crochet, knit, sew, and quilt, so I do have a few under my belt.

You can adjust the height in the Danella tool... :) You just need to do a little bit of unscrewing. I enjoyed the video very much and I choose the manual speed needle, not sure if it'll be Danella or other brand, but we'll see.. I'm excited!

With punch needle you can make your own designs and it does not require special software to do so. If you're worried however you can get smaller hoops or frames to start with. Working with embroidery hoops you have to make sure to get the "locking" kind however. Also if you look around you can see cheaper backings (I would be careful about using burlap as it is possible to be allergic to it, though it's the only cheap backing unless you're lucky.) Otherwise it might be worth it to start with a kit. My main advice is to start with the cheapest you can that still works properly to see if you like it.

I think that to be a true artist, there's a degree of obsession to follow through and realize the vision. If you're testing it out to see if you'd like it as a hobby, get a little all inclusive kit or buy a tool secondhand or a cheaper tool. If you love it, upgrade to higher quality tools. If you get bored, there wasn't much wasted to feel bad about. Your investment was in the discovery and trying it out.

@tayfan22 жыл бұрын
Works well with lined monk's cloth (not the kind from JoAnn's) or burlap. Fabric must be drum tight on a lap frame. The yarn must be medium weight, not chunky. The Danella tool must be oiled occasionally in the gear mechanism.

Great video! Thank you for sharing this info! I am an older person with wrist issues, but was interested in trying rug tufting, mostly for gifts, but maybe to sell. I am concerned about the impact to my wrists & hands. This video shows me that the electronic tufting gun is likely the best option. Before I buy though, I need to find out supply expenses & least toxic glues for use in small spaces. I live in a cold climate, except summer, so being realistic, I need to consider toxicity levels. Thank you again!

There's nothing new under the sun, dude. And usually the people who do come up with original ideas are people who have extensive experience and expertise with everything that already exists (in their field, craft, trade, specialty...) and interest in a wide range of topics.

Wait sorry, I know this comment is old but... you feel bad about making rugs because you didn't invent rugs? You're going to feel bad about everything if that's how you think 😂 People focus too much on "originality." We're all building off of other people's ideas all the time.
