To me, at my laptop with PC-speakers and sub for 30 bucks, lying in my bed........ it sounded like 1 2 3 4 were very similar, and sounded the best. And 5-6 had much lower volume and sounded much thinner.

To me Landr was the winner more balanced in the frequency range. Mixea sounded thin, mids scooped. I would encourage you sometime to give CloudBounce a try 👍

Thanks for these. Mixea sounds like it has a big EQ hole or phase issue somewhere, I would reject that one outright personally. Landr was a pleasant surprise though, definitely will look into that one. I have been using Ozone since version 3 and have become very accustomed to how it sounds, so I was not surprised to find I preferred the sound of Ozone in the blind test.
@AudioTechTV10 ай бұрын
I know it’s weird with Mixea when listening to it next to all of the other masters but when i compared it with references from big artists, Mixea was the one that sounded like it fit in with those. If it wasn’t for that I was leaning toward Landr and you can’t really go wrong with Ozone. The great thing about Ozone is you can set it up manually not just with AI.

Adding reference track to Landr improves Mastering significantly, night and day compared to Ai Presets.

Adding a reference track? That's a thing you can do? That would save me weeks of work
@divernАй бұрын
Yes you can add reference track to landr. In my case it made huge difference.
@duaneman677 ай бұрын
Think Landr took that one. As a longtime Ozone user was surprised how thin both standard and elements sounded.

Ozone’s strengths aren’t in the AI but using the individual modules manually make it an excellent purchase.

5 was the stand out for me right away, brought the low end out more than all the previous ones. The previous ones sounded too tinny for my liking and the bass wasn't as prominent.

@AudioTechTV5 ай бұрын
That’s not what mastering is so I don’t think there is a free mastering service that does that. You may be able to find some AI thing that can do what you want. It’s not something that I would look up so I can’t help you with that.

I was going to say the same thing. All of the others sounded very similar and that sounded like it was playing through cheap dollar store headphones. There was no girth to the sound. Kind of like it was trying to separate the instruments.

@HiFiWright10 ай бұрын
Mixea sounds terrible. Thin and easily fatiguing. Would translate to being able to be super loud but would probably be remembered as a mistake when put next to literally any of the others, including bandlab (side note, I often dig the bandlab master setting called either analog or vinyl to get some nice smooth yet full & punchy old school tape-saturation type of sonic rather than "standard" which is generally incredibly bland sounding)
@joolz666 Жыл бұрын
With laptop speakers and cloth ears, they all sounded much of a muchness to me other than 5, which was quieter and a lot thinner and tinny sounding than the rest.
@AudioTechTV Жыл бұрын
It must be the way that KZbin squashes the audio because when listening to them here I think 5 was more full sounding. They are all decent options though.

So when using one of the sites does it matter if I have a limiter on my track?
@AudioTechTV7 ай бұрын
It would matter if the limiter is crushing the track. If you’re just using the limiter to bring up the levels and maybe doing the tiniest amount of gain reduction then that won’t matter but leave at least 1db of headroom. Landr mastering recommends that you have the track at -6db before using their service.

I see you use studio one, wanted to know about when do go for studio one and when traction during your music production process?
@AudioTechTV Жыл бұрын
I’ve recently started to get more into Studio One. If it’s a really simple project that I’m starting I’ll load up Tracktion still as I know it very well and can get things done quick in it. But most newer projects I’ve been going to Studio One lately. Typically for my plugin reviews I use Waveform still as I have a lot set up in it for those reviews. Both programs are very similar, I just want to do some videos on studio one soon so I’m getting used to it. But I will still be doing Waveform videos too.

Also, I broke down and bought Ozone Elements 10 because it was on sale for $30 and so far I am not impressed. Ozone 9 has way more options as starting points, but, and more importantly, you can adjust the various parameters.
