For those that want to skip the backpack stage you can have a friend spawn high level bandits and let you farm the badges. You can also farm the mobs in Scathach Caves and get enough ducats in one trip.

A little tip about the red dragon I learned that I like for party members scared to fight it, the balistas count as more than one hit per bolt

The issue we ran into is the Red Dragon spawns IN the ship so we couldn't use them hit him.

For me biggest problem with commerce is the normal enemies do not scale properly with current content so they give poor rewards for the time they waste of yours and then once you unlock airship it just feels gimmicky rather than engaging. They need to add higher cp and stat scaling to master bandits. No not others because then we run into the same problem that killed mabi during the dungeon rework where new players are overwhelmed with with how strong the enemies are and are railroaded into grinding shadow missions to stand a chance not really having the freedom to choose how to get stronger only having one source to fairly grind. We do not need a repeat of history here we need easier enemies for new players to ease into the game but we also need more dangerous enemies in legacy content so players farther in aren't bored or feel like they are wasting their time. Commerce i hope they find a balance to keep it alive.
