I like that each thief spec focuses on and provides its own spin on an aspect of the base class. Daredevil focuses on mobility and evasiveness, Deadeye focuses on stealth and ambushes, and Specter focuses on stealing mechanics from other specs

general fun fuct for thiefs...your f1 skill will work while dodging, so if you have dodge that stomps and deals damage, you can basically start dodging incoming attacks, teleport to enemy and land that dodge damage for free :)

It’s so satisfying to dodge away from an enemy and then instantly snap back to the target via steal to stomp damage. Becomes second nature and really helps you stick to your enemy

Sometimes the steal skill works too easily. E.g. when you lost target for whatever reason it will still trigger and go on cooldown without doing anything.

i always liked condi daredevil, so i spent a lot of time getting good at it. i think you did a fairly good job at showcasing it, but i still have some remarks that might be interesting. - if you don't care for the higher dps with double daggers on both weapon sets and weapon swap sigils, i would go with offhand pistol for headshots. it's better cc than shortbow 4. if you want a ranged option, you can just take a scepter or axe main hand. - as you said correctly, the evades are really powerful. when dhuum does his pull after the greater soulsplit, you can stay in his hitbox and constantly evade. you can even guarantee to have enough evade frames by taking the daggerstorm elite which lets you evade even more while doing a little damage (more with combo fields). - the strength of this build only really shows on a few fights and the dps heavily depends on the rest of your group. both your dodge and your skill 3 are whirl finishers, so you gain a lot of dps if there are ethereal, poison or fire fields on the ground. contrary you will be sad when you have light, water, ice or lightning fields on the ground. dark fields are a minor dps increase. with a good composition (or luck) you can literally get over 50k dps on cairn just by having good finishers. - the current iteration of the build being focused on bleeding depends a lot on the boss being in one place for long enough with the trap and caltrops. sadly it used to be much less painful to replace your utilities with venoms, but it's still kinda ok. the important thing to know about the trap is that after placing it, the cd is already ticking. in other words you don't lose any dps from waiting to activate it as long as you activate it before the cd is over when you can place a new trap. so you can sometimes just wait with using the trap or even precast it on a lot of fights and activate it when the fight starts. - in terms of cc, obviously basilisk venom is your most powerful skill, but it only gives people in a small radius around you one stack of the venom. so if people accidentally hit anything but the target you want to cc, it's gone. on fights with multiple targets or a lot of movement, i would always recommend using the daredevil elite impact strike. it's a chain of 3 skills and the first 2 deal a lot of cc. in total it's less than the venom, but while stacks of the venom might get lost, you can guarantee 432 cc with impact strike and the follow-up skill. especially on fights like matthias or slothasor etc it's really good. - for the stolen skills: most skills are just not worth using at all. in raids and strikes you can get very powerful skills that might be good to learn over time. like desmina and sloth give a venom that instantly cleanses all conditions from your team and does some damage for each condi removed. matthias and mursaat overseer, for example, give plasma which gives your party all boons except quick and alac. some fights like dhuum or deimos give a shadowstep skill which you can use for movement (and a little damage from the immob=poison) or to teleport a downed player to yourself. most fights outside raids and strikes give random skills that you can also get from random open world mobs. a few notably good skills are: the green ground-targeted skill throw gunk which makes an ethereal field that you can use to get a lot of confusion finishers for dps, bone crack and some other skills allow you to do extra cc, throw scale and tooth stab are worth using for dps alone. just learn them over time, but most are really just a waste of cast time. - one thing to point out for people learning the rotation: at the start after the first dodge you want to drain your initiative by using skill 3 usually 3 times in a row before you dodge again. that builds up condis faster and gives you more stacks of lead attacks which increases your condi damage for when you activate your trap for example.

The offhand pistol skill for headshots, creatively named "Head Shot," makes a satisfying THUMP when you hit it.

I use signet of malice for the heal; both death blossom and the impaling lotus dodge are hitting so many times, you get around 400hp back every attack on a single target, more when there's multiple targets. You can also swap out the first trait in the DD line if you need some condi clear; heals and clears a condition on evade with a 1s cd. I find it better for solo play when you can't count on an ally clearing your conditions.

Shortbow 5 is probably my favorite move in the game. Make sure to at least try out the zoomie dodge (the grandmaster trait on daredevil changes your dodge) too, great fun in open world

Yeah, I would say shortbow is the movement and ranged cleave option. Both pistol/pistol and rifle should be better when it comes to damage and pistol is also pretty good CC.

Back in the day before they boosted all the condis, d/d base bleed thief in WvW was a blaaaaast. Never get hit and stack bleeds with very little condi cleanse. Aaah the good ol days

10:44 "If there is crazy Utility above that i might not even know." Well there is two i can recommand you. Shadow Step (3rd line, 1st skill) it's a Mesmer's Blink, and when you re-use it, it TP you back to you starting point (usefull for Pylon on QTP or to get Dagda's SAK) Shadow Portal (6th line, 3rd skill)..... Basicly a cheap Mesmer portal. It only work 1 way (from you to your marker) and for 10 peps (yes 10, it got change few weeks ago, used to be 5) but still a cool option to get in your pocket. Also Shortbow 5 is a TP, u can chain like 3 of it w full init/mana

There's also anti-projectile stuff but that is usually covered by other classes. Most of the teleports (except staff 5) require a path to the target which can be a bit... iffy at times. Staff 5 is great for making some jumping puzzles trivial and there is a short one at the end of Spirit Vale in wing 1.

Fun build to play, good to have other options ready to go (like Power Daredevil for cleave or Condi Specter for ranged) for fights where it doesn't work great (Silent Surf, Deepstone). Some strikes you will murder your friends too (Boneskinner, Whisper). Power DD is a lot like your old Low Intensity video, except it sometimes includes Axes.

By using Pistol/Pistol and 3 on auto you can go to 35k easily by only pressing the dodge button every few seconds lol ( about 30k without dodges)

As a Thief main, my mileage has varied with Condi Daredevil. I think if you have Jedi reflexes it's godly, but if you're me then you choose all the worst times/ways to dodge and look like you're TRYING to get yourself killed. I typically go with Impairing Daggers over Caltrops, dunno if that's a good move or not but it works for me. I also use Signet of Malice, since Dual Daggers do a lot of hits (and Shortbow if fighting a crowd) Unhindered Combatant is great to use between battles (and even in-battle in some cases, though obviously a DPS loss but can be great depending on the mechanics, or if you just feel safer with it).

I love DD and condi is especially fun, Mukk did a good job explaining it but i think he maybe made it sound a little too flawless. One of the biggest cons on Condi DD is the frequent animation lock from dodging and dagger 3 makes it much worse on bosses that are mobile or have "dont step here" mechanics. So on fights like Matthias, Deimos, Soulless Horror, Twin Largos, OLC, Aetherblade Hideout, XJJ, and Kaening Overlook it's less convenient to use than say Condi Specter if you want to stay thief. Also wanted to note that Shortbow is really just a utility weapon, I think the main draw of it is the Shadowstep skill 5, but I'm not sure why so many sites recommend it first. I've always thought that swapping to offhand pistol for much better for CC, and it lets you use mainhand Axe for ranged damage ((build up axes with 1&2, then skill 3) or leave mainhand slot empty and just use mainhand dagger autoattack which is still decent.

I think you underestimate a bit how much the forced movement and animation lock can mess you up in some fights. But I really like (power) Daredevil on some raid bosses because of the stolen skills and good cc while being incredibly easy. To be specific Samarog, Conjured Amalgamation and Quadim 1.

11:30 you don't need to hold forward, you dodge out (backwards without touching movement keys) and dodge back in using skill 3 (skill 3 landing in your target will land all hits, you don't have to jump over your target) .... buttt (edited) it still depends where your group is standing perhaps... I'd say try it out

2 important things people tend to miss 1. The second strike of your auto chain restores endurance. Even if you have Vigor from allies, you'll run out of Endurance (→ Lotus Training damage buff) if you're not auto attacking, which happens either from sloppiness with the very simple rotation, or being forced off boss. You can use the Daredevil Heal skill for a big shot of Endurance to fix this problem. 2. F1/Steal applies a ton of Bleed and Poison (3 stacks of each with 10 second duration). It's basically an extra Venom skill. It should be used off cooldown except when the mobility it provides would be slightly useful a few seconds later.

The dodges are great, but in raids the constant forced movement tends to get dd's killed and sometimes even kill the group. This is the class I see triggering oils on Deimos the most.

Should be at least 20k. This was the go-to build for lupicus solos back in the days and I did reach 20k a couple times, though I wasn't very good. The build doesn't need quickness and alac as much as the other builds, since quickness doesn't affect dodges or dagger 3 and alac doesn't affect endurance either.

Haven't watched the video yet, but i already know this will be interesting. Thief is very different from the rest of the classes, and, as a thief main who just so happens to play condi DD almost exclusevely, i must say Dagger 3 + Dodge is as adictive as cocaine. Is it optimal? No, but god do i love evading everything while jumping around. On some bosses it is absolutely horrible having to dodge backwards and then dagger 3 forward, and sometimes you just can't do your "triple dagger 3" opener without falling to your death, on landing on certain death(mouth of mordy, harvest temple, boneskinner, etc etc). HOWEVER, when you sucessfully evade a barrage of attacks while the rest of your stability-less team kiss the floor while you continue your cirque du soleil impression? OH YEAH THAT'S THE STUFF HMMMMMMMMMMMMPPPPHFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. Tl;Dr - i'm addicted to dagger 3, and i need help.

Depends on the build u run. Thieves can burst targets and pop in and out of stealth with their smoke field repeatedly

Snow Crows is dps oriented while the other site is probably more for practical use and if you ask me, having a bow 2nd weapon is alot more practical in actual gameplay than slightly improving your dps by having daggers in both sets to get use of a sigill that procs on weapon swap

What kind of content would you want a shortbow on a condi daredevil though? If you need CC there are better builds for it, and even then basi or pistol is way better than shortbow. And if you need shortbow for mobility, you're probably in open world, where power is miles better. The few fights where cDD really shines are mostly the fights where CC is irrelevant (Cairn, MO, Dhuum, QTP)

these builds are so not fun. I can't believe that people spend their time in a game playing like robots doing what these "meta" sites tell them to do to get the highest dps they can instead of having fun, and then, they expect everyone else to do the same or they will say the other people wanna get carried lol. People forgot that a game is made to be played for fun not as a job. And sure, you playing with people who doesn't follow these rotations, builds, may end up on you doing more mechanics of the game or taking a lil longer but isn't that the purpose of those contents anyway? Meta slaves are really slaves of their own playstyle.

That's totally fine if it isn't for you. The reason the meta builds exist is because they have made some fights in the game with timers. If you can't beat the fight before X time passes, the boss either instantly kills everyone or despawns. Because of this, players that are passionate about wanting to take down those challenges HAVE to do a certain amount of damage per second to beat the timer. Thus, you have these "meta" builds with high performance. But it's important to remember this is intended for a specific game mode. If you aren't interested in that, than that is fine.
