The Steam Deck (mostly the OLED) wins in most everything but performance (which, for the power it uses, is still pretty good). Now, I understand that the technology wasn't as good (still isn't now) when Valve was still designing the og Deck, but this just makes me more hyped with a potential Deck 2. Never stop being the pioneer, Valve.

I am an extreme gamer. In my job I design and test diagnostic software for Heavy Duty trucks and equipment. I just wanted to say that you did an amazing job at this breakdown. Not only is the editing on point, but you explained everything perfectly. A lot of people do not understand how these run or what a lot of the components are that make these up. Then you will have a handful that pretend they know these things for reasons I will never understand. You explained it in a way that didn't feel elementary and you didn't announce the extreme technical terminology then follow that up with a condescending explanation, which is a lot of what I see when watching reviews. Good job dude, seriously. I have been back and forth on getting a Steam Deck. I travel A LOT for work. I am in the air constantly. I then spend a lot of time in hotels. When in my room I'm hoping I can HDMI to the TV and watch my streams and play my games. This will work great for me. I know this sounds crazy, but I take my Xbox Series X with me a lot. I have taken my PS5 a few times, but that is only when I am deep into an exclusive. I do take my Switch OLED, but Nintendo is always so behind on getting out their next console and I am just not a huge Nintendo fan. I wasn't even aware of all the competition Steam Deck had until 6 months ago. So watching your video helped me a lot. I hate the idea of this horrible looking frame rate on a newer AAA title, but everything else sounds good. I want to have my Netflix and HBO and all that in the hotel without having to take a giant console.

A few weeks later I had the same issue with the LT so I did the same. It seems to have done the trick as 2 months on and I am having no repeat issues. I'm not sure if doing this is recommended but personally for me it worked and I havnt encountered any problems. I also had a squeak on my d pad after a few weeks but that seems to have just resolved itself without me having to do anything. Of course it's not ideal that such an expensive device should encounter issues like this, but they seem to have been fixed without too much effort and I don't envisage them being an issue again now. @megaloth19553 ай бұрын
I have a GPD Win 4, a GPD Win Mini and GPD Win Max 2 6800u, and they all pale in comparison to my Legion Go for me. Windows without keyboard is perfectly manageable a good 99% of the time. The remaining 1% are special situations which can be worked around of using hardware shortcuts like left Legion button + A for Ctrl+Alt+Del and left Legion button + B for always on top On screen keyboard which is good for just about anything (can be customized to use modern OSK that doesn't hide the screen using Ciphray's Bat, for example) Either way, it's hardly "painful". At worst, a minor nuisance. As if my GPDs lack any "nuisances". To each his own. I'm kinda sorry I wasted my money on the GPD's, the Go really is my perfect handheld right now.

I love the Windows complatibility, and not only am I not bothered with it's un-console status, I very much enjoy finding 3rd party apps and workarounds to fully tailor it to my preferred experience, so the Steam Deck doesn't quite appeal to me. The Ally...the Ally is great, especially the X variant, but it lacks Hall Effect and a trackpad, which really helps in a pinch. Plus, a 7" doesn't quite cut it for me anymore, that 8.8" Go display needs to be seen to be believed, it's that good.

Probably returning the Ally X because it just isn't enough upgrade to be worth anything in my use case. But 100% recommend for someones first handheld, behind oled steam deck, the all time king.

Good video! Always love your content. My only negative feedback is that your ratings out of 10 are overly positive. Almost nothing was below a 7 out of 10, which makes it hard to know the comparison. For example, i would rather that, for each metric, the handhelds spread across the entire 10 points so that i can really see the difference. All being either an 8, 9 or 10 makes it really hard to know which is worse and by how much. E.g. I would have put Asus at a 2 on Support, not a 7. Asus would still get a good score because of their other categories being good, but id know to expect issues with support (and to look into it more if i wanted to buy one)

I don't think Fifa works on a steam deck because of anti cheat. So probably the rog ally x or the legion go

I finally have the funds to buy either the ROG Ally X or Legion Go. I have considered the Legion Go because I am older and need a bigger screen to see but am leery because of the negative press that it gets due to the OS. On the other hand the X is only really more expensive because of the extra memory (24) and double battery. I learned that if you go into Steam games you can allocate memory by going into Launch Options and typing -maxMem= and then the number of whatever your system can handle that it is not using. So, if it is the Legion Go and has 16GB and uses 8 for the system I can type -maxMem=8000. Now this working in Steam so if this works in Steam than it should work in the Legion meaning why pay extra money for the Ally X when all I have to do is type -maxMem=8000 and it's free. I have done this for games that won't start due to shaders not loading, or slow fps, etc.

Ive been enjoying the Ally X. The battery life is excellent. It allows me to play during my breaks at work which easily adds up to over 1 hour of gaming, and yet Ill still have plenty of battery left. I play on the “Performance” mode at 17w when im on the go and all my games run at a smooth framerate and decent graphics settings.

You gave both SDs the same battery rating but everyone knows the oled models are more efficient giving more battery life.

Steamdeck OLED user here...I love the deck, however im more of a multiplayer kinda gamer and well would love a windows device. Im currently selling my OLED to either get an Asus ROG Ally or Legion GO... Ideally I would just play some multiplayer COD and MMOs.. what do you suggest?

I had zero pc gaming experience and last year went with the Ally over the SD. I absolutely love my Ally and it got me back into gaming (I kinda lost interest). I would probably be happy with a SD, but I have no issues with the Ally. After you set it up the way you want it's just boot up and go.
