Fun fact - Using subsonic ammo does not automatically = the weapon being "suppressed". Just means there's no loud crack from the round breaking the sound barrier. The VKS is however, integrally suppressed (has a built-in suppressor internally) so he isn't wrong. Just wanted to make that distinction for anyone wondering. The combination of the weapon being suppressed + using subsonic ammunition is intended to make your shots even quieter than if you were to just use a suppressor or just subsonic ammo

@@Sorain1 in lore toothy originally was part of Eurasia/Euruska before going rogue, that's why if you ping him he sometimes shows up either Eurasian or Euruskan, he's still rogue and can still be seen targeting his own factions too, though I'm sure they'll update it down the line where nobody is safe more frequently. for now I'll gladly take him being a lil confused on what he's doing cuz just existing he already spikes my anxiety lmao.

TBH, as someone who grew up on a lot of experimental game design elements, when games were more like platforms to test out new mechanics rather than carbon-copy cash-cows, I feel very refreshed playing The Forever Winter as a game that is both good and janky! Embrace the jank, because with time, it gets ironed out and the game becomes great. Great is good, but it's only janky for a time.

Some of the scope reticle and hit markers are misaligned and Fun Dog definitely needs to address that, You can see that especially with the Trueaim 4X and the SCAR and that's why you are not one-shotting even the normal troopers. Don't take anything for granted with this Early Access game lol.

@@Ste12321 incorrect -- there is a legitimate bug where the scopes are misaligned. it doesn't happen with all guns but the ones it affects happens when you try to ADS fire while CROUCHED. basically the scope of the gun stays high up like you're still standing but the actual gun fires from your crouched position, making shots hit about a foot lower than where you're aiming. you can test this yourself with pinging (the ping lines up with what your gun is actually aiming at); while STANDING you aim down sights then ping, you'll see your ping lines up with your scope reticle. then CROUCH, ADS and ping, you'll see the ping mark is lower and off center to your reticle.

The NTW-20 is not a .50 cal AMR IRL, rather a 20mm shortened cartridge, can be swapped to use 14mm AP rounds. It's a very unique weapon that would be perfect for fighting smaller mechs, no idea why they downgraded it to a .50, especially when there's more than one .50 already in the game and a 20mm AMR as well.

And also the downgrade isn't really a downgrade seeing as it's almost as powerful as the antitank rifle. 800 damage vs 1000. It just has cheaper ammo.

Don't know about you, but I feel like equipping flashlights to your gun is kinda throwing in the game since they do more to hamper viability than to aid it, especially on automatic weapons where they just illuminate all the gun smoke obscuring your view.

A scar is not a sniper. SA58 is not a sniper either. RSASS is a DMR, so almost. The actual snipers work great.

The Europan Snipers do use a modified (Long barrel) Scar. The Scar the players get is *also* chambered in .50 BMG, but the damage it can output in the player's hands doesn't reflect that sadly. Otherwise you're correct in your analysis, any real world Scar wouldn't count. Europan Snipers do good damage though...

Sniper isn't even a gun type, it's the use, which is long range, stealth and precision killing. Snipers can use DMRs, but yeah i doubt they would use MK17s or FALs

​@@kingarthur605Green Beret's use the MK17 quite often in a sniper role. Any rifle can be a sniper rifle. Not every shot is at 2000m, sometimes you just need 1, reliable shot at 600m and the ability to make 10 more.

In reality it is you who doesn't for making this comment. "Sniper rifle" is effectively civvie bait from media/movies/games. Reality is the term Sniper, Marksman, etc befit only the role of the user, the weapon can be anything, even a pistol can be a 'sniper' if it was able to be done. LMGs have often been used as 'snipers' too, especially true in the case of higher power guns like the M2 .50 who's range exceeds that of most 'gamer snippers' :)

When you play this , enemies have smooth animations, civilians have human voices, and things look generally normal. When I play this, enemies skip animations and flicker between animation frames in the distance, handcuffed prisoners make zombie noises, and things are generally glitchy and weird. What's your secret? The weirdest thing that's happened is probably a SCAR rifle magically transforming into an antitank rifle in my inventory.

It would be really nice to see a full run through of all weapon types in the game. I think a video that isn’t just stream clips could perform very well too. I noticed in this game, the optics aren't zeroed. For the integrated optic for the SVD, I had to aim using the bottom of the circle below the cross hair. With he x4 optic, it was between the first and second dot below the cross hair, and for the x3 I had to aim using the 400 yards stadia line.

One thing i would like to see is the Buildup, or i do something wrong, because some Guns need higher Tier? Or other Mods befor you can put a Suppressor on them or at all. The Devs could do some in the Descriptions of the Mods so you see, which one allows Supressors or which Gun.

So guns like the Painless LMG and the sniper in this vid are rewards for repeatable, random quests. Check your quests and If none have your desired reward, hit escape and open the menu again. It rerolls your questing options each time! Parts and attachments become available for purchase as you level each individual gun. You can also find them out in the world.

Sadly none of the .50 cal weapons are good, none can be silenced and the Snipers are outclassed by the 20mm Anti-Tank. The Scar at least has a 50 round mag, so can hold it's own against a squad if you got some cover to use. Meanwhile if you want Silent Sniping the SVD can 1 shot headshot without alerting the Squad and has 2x mag capacity of the Subsonic gun. Even when having to quickly mag dump the SVD does better than the 50 cal snipers due to firerate.

Haven't seen the comment yet, but the exo pilot wasn't dead. They disappear when they die. If it says (e) loot pilot, they are there and alive. You didn't hit e at the right moment (it can be janky). Edit: lol I typed this 20 seconds too fast! 😂

I've put 40+ hours into the game, and IMO, it's been worth every penny. The pucker factor is real when you're trying to extract high value loot and being fired upon by everyone and their brother, plus the game has more atmosphere than any AAA game I've seen in a long time.
