You do on eBay what I have an entire store for. And to those who say he is a douche for this, let me tell you he isn’t. I run a small mom-and-pop thrift store who deals with goodwill and arc from time to time, let me tell you, the people threes stores serve are not the people barely making food money. Second hand stores are here to sell gently used items at a discounted rate (most of the time), they do sometimes sell items to people who can’t afford new but most of the time how they actually help is by donating part or most of their profits to community organizations that then give out new items and vouchers to people who need them. Him flipping a bread maker or a pair of jeans isn’t gonna hurt the homeless, it actually helps as his money gets used to actually get things people need, and it’s a lot easier to sell used stuff than to beg for money donations.

I agree that the idea of "scalpers" is wrong HOWEVER lot of the comments seemed to pick the idea off of tiktok that buying stuff from goodwill/thrift shops is inherently BAD. It isn't! Some people who sell online dont do it as a "side hustle" but as their main job. Legit, people who GENUINELY need the money sell stuff. They sell it to people who want it because THEY need the money. Before this became a "trend", a lot of broke people with a keen eye would go in and buy stuff that was expensive just to be able to own it themselves. I will say it used to be more common that people who shop for themselves will also pick up stuff to sell to others. People who sell are letting other people who cant afford full price to have a discount. A lot of times it isn't pricing super high for greed but instead is making a little money to help other people be able to afford stuff (people who thrift online also can't afford the thing theyre buying and thus, buy it at a lower price but may not be able to find it at their location). And before you say well hey, people come in here to buy stuff THEY want but can't afford - this is true in specific areas and for specific items. I mean, it is better to sell stuff than have it sit around, even though you dont know exactly where it is going. As someone who ACTUALLY goes to thrift stores, a lot of thrift stores have stuff that sits untouched. I think the bigger issue is to stop fast fashion because we honestly have a bigger problem trying to get RID of clothes than we do for people who go in and actually buy the clothes. TLDR the message has always been a good message but i think it is silly to crucify people for just going to thrift shops (and the bigger problem is fast fashion)

If someone spends $20 in there and makes some money, why be mad at them about it? There's still a whole store full of things for people, and theyre still able to get the things they need. What app do you use to check the pricing, shipping fees and profit?

As someone who donates at least 8 times a year. Those items are donated for poor people who need them. You know so single moms/dads or immigrants struggling can still get good quality items for their home and family.

why people are jealous for this person doing this side hustle? because his profiting, it's like a hack that only few knows, and the people are just like shush be quiet. And are actually jealous because they don't did the work to profit and to make a youtube vid to teach people how to make money.

By the way, all the items he bought are still sat in a pile in his garage Remember, just because it's on ebay, doesn't mean it sells on ebay

I walked around goodwill today and the prices were so bad. I run a resale shop and I’d never be able to turn a profit at that goodwills prices. I need to go shopping in Arkansas.

Goodwill is more expensive than Walmart in many items. They claim it is because of operating cost increases but that world not be the case if it’s CEO and high ranking officers weren’t earning as much as Fortune 500 do.

You missed the microwave with the knobs on the bottom shelf on the left at goodwill with the bread maker those go for some profit as well vintage

It's only worth what you can sell it for. Just because someone has something listed at a certain price doesn't mean that's what it sells for. I remember collecting nes and snes games and I would see sealed Mario 3 and Zelda cartridges that people would try to get thousands for. eBay and smart phones ruined most the great finds as people would just look up their own items and think they have gold when in fact it's barely copper.

Dude, goodwill is for people in need. This is so god damn selfish, you should feel bad

I think your best bet with goodwill is finding really good clothes or accessories nobody else will notice because the *board games, boxes and other stuff is a gamble

Where on earth are you finding a goodwill with reasonable prices? Found 2 sewing machines, 1 goes used on eBay for under 40 priced at 49.99, another was a '70s Kenmore that likely needed $100 worth of work for 54.99.... I threw away a similar one because cost to fix and rewire was more than the cost of a new one. Used Walmart shirts for 4.99, fuckers are new all day long for $6. Anything remotely good is sold online or priced at retail.

These days its hard. Most stores have their own sale sight now. How unfair to the employees not even allowed to shop in store in most states. Pitiful!

Note that you almost certainly won't find treasures at your local goodwill. When they get really good items in donations, they have to send them away to corporate.

"you should make" is the biggest misleading line you can say. Either show SOLD profit, or move on. Pretend paper money isnt real.

I find it disgusting that people are clearly showing that they’re thrift store pickers on the internet. And that they grab all the good stuff while leaving nothing good behind for someone who actually needs or wants it.
@bairfreedom10 ай бұрын
Sigh......your ignorance should not be displayed online. Goodwill uses the store as a fund raiser, its not a poor people store. This is how all thrift shops work .
