Same omg I spent the rest of the video looking at how much time was left. I was trying to calculate if there was going to be another run. And as we closer, there definitely wasn’t time. The retire deck function prevents Arena from being a zero-sum game. If everyone was forced to play out every single draft there would be fewer insanely strong decks. This would raise the skill ceiling of the game, attract more casual players and in turn make the Arena ecosystem much healthier.

Preventing conceding is really important with this also
@RawrGhosty3 ай бұрын
even though the retire function was always there (i think?) arena didn't feel THIS crazy hard to get 12 wins like when hearthstone was MOST popular which makes no sense cause there were so many good arena streamers like amaz and kripp and trump etc yet now just cause people are doing this more and fewer people even play arena it's just fucked, it's like the aram accounts for league all over again (i didn't even remember i had 12 wins and i had to go check that's how easy and unmemorable it was to get 12 wins back then)
@DumpyFrog3 ай бұрын
@@RawrGhosty Isn't arena also just much more RNG/powercrept at this point? Compared to when getting a flame strike in your draft or like druid Force + Roar was good. Getting a demon hunter draft where you just summon 12/12 in stats with rush 4+ times is kinda wild.

Played a 12-0 run after that, I almost retired the deck but was out of gold and played it out just trying to recoop some of the expense. Never retire decks. If you don't want to play it, just queue up and concede 3 times. That will give wins to worse decks and make getting to 7 (or 12) wins easier for everyone. For every win in arena, another player needs to mark up a loss, so the more losses there are, the more people get to high numbers with average and bad decks. The only reason HS has the retire button is to make arena pay out less rewards to people. Don't fall for the scam. Never Retire a run.

Retiring after the first loss or generally early is actually the worst thing you can do from my experience. Most 12 win runs I've had, had early losses. Even going 6-2 or 7-2, it seems like games are just much easier once you're in "loosers queue". Funny to see him slowly lose his mind but he probably could've gotten 12 wins sooner if he just rode out some of these decks 😄
@crystallized16763 ай бұрын
Idk. Back in days definitely that was a case with easier queue (minus if you was infiniter) but now everything is so rng that probably isn't worth persuing (timewise) with 2 loses before 7. For sure though he should do it on a new account so he gets a newbie protection unless he wanted fair 12. Anyway feels bad that after so many years he still didn't have it done xd My longest streak ever with 12-ers was 18 in a row :D Man, good old times when skill mattered... I miss them. Nowadays all you do in gaming industry is sucking co*** for a good RNG ;/

back when i started when hearthstone came out, I had multiple 12 wins runs. Heck even a lot in over 1200 total wins I played some arena in march of lich king expansion and it took me solid 40-50 tries to get 12 wins once. most were 5 wins lol
@Mythikal133 ай бұрын
March of the lich was my first 12 win! My most was 11 before (one night in karazhan). I have to agree though, arena runs now feel harder. There's so much you need to push through with every card having so much value now. I feel like back then basically any decently drafted deck could be piloted to 12, now it's sort of an RNG shit show like the rest of the game lol. It starts to feel bad losing to cards that don't start in your opponents deck and they got lucky. Always been a problem, but its worse now. Could average 4-7 wins before, now only get 3-4 before I know my deck is too bad to even get close to 12. Hearthstone in its current state makes me think of TF2 random crits, there's more discover and randomness for "rare high moments" but every time someone has those moments, it results in an extreme low for the other person who literally didn't even have a chance because their opponent just is better at flipping coins or playing slots
@urahi8303 ай бұрын
because the skill ceiling is a limbo stick that fell to the ground. There are cards so fucking busted that if you don't have an answer you just lose the game, the power level of decks is insane and that means just curving out and making good decisions isn't enough because if your opponent has a good enough bomb he will wipe your fucking board while building up their own
@andy02q3 ай бұрын
It's mmr based now, similar to Duels, except hidden mmr. I have 4k wins on my main acc and the same amount spread over other accs. I used to average 5.9 wins per run and for a couple of years it has been 3.2. Whenever I try Arena on a new acc. then it's 9 wins/run avg. for the first 3 runs and the drops off relatively quickly, but takes a couple dozen games to actually reach below 4. I hate it, because 5.9 was close enough to infinity and I could farm incredible dust amounts, but now farming Legend in Ranked is the first thing to do b/c it "pays" better. PS: Never retire; like wtf? Come on... PPS: I don't think the 100 in 10 challenge is possible anymore nowadays, except on smurfs, which is cheating. Noone has beaten it since 2016-May-12.

To be fair, getting 12 wins use to be easier. In the old days of arena, skill could out bail you out. Now, the power level of decks is so crazy that you can just be beaten by default. I should know. I used to be a top 30 arena player for years. Now? My average wins is around 4-5 wins. Arena needs help but Blizzard isn’t gonna do crap to help the format.

Actually managed to end up on the wrong end of an old Trolden arena clip without having recorded a single game in my life, took a little bit out of the sting of that absolute nonsense. Felt vindicating to finally get to show off some of the horrific luck I'd have to some HS buddies outside of recounted stories. Got back into HS recently because a friend wanted me to get back into it with him, and have been stacking up arena wins again. Had a 12 win run like, a week ago.
