Great video! I'm 54 and have been on HRT for almost 3 yrs now. I had a wonderful doctor that showed me studies, told me the risks and benefits so we could decide if it was right for me. Sadly he just retired. My night sweats were so bad that i would have done just about anything to stop them! Low dose HRT was the best decision for me. Night sweats stopped and now I'm able to get a decent night's sleep most days, which in turn helped with my mood and brain fog. It has also seemed to help reduce the amount of migraines i get per month. Breast cancer, stroke, alzheimer's and osteoporosis run in my family, so i had to weigh the pros and cons carefully.

Low dose estrogen may not be strong enough to get any brain/bone/heart disease benefits. (It’s only good for hot flashes & night sweats.) The minimal benefits require a minimum dose of 0.05 mg for the estradiol patch. See Menopause Taylor, who is an OB/GYN on YT for a list of minimum dosages for other estrogen formulations. But who wants minimum dosages instead of optimal dosages?

Great info to put out there as you are correct there is a lot of misinformation coming from not only advertisers but health care professionals. My journey is quite astonishing as when I asked my gyno about hrt he said oh no you don't need it. I then got a book about it, brought it to my next appt and showed it to the same gyno and he took the book and threw it across the exam room! Not kidding! I was starting menopause and had hot flashes and just did not feel like myself, so I found an hrt doctor, which there are a lot of and started taking a estrogen, prog cream that I put on my arms. It helped so much! Only used it for two years and then stopped. I'm a okay now :)

Great video, thank you Nancy! I am on HRT for 16 years now and I have no intention of stopping as my symptoms are still very present. I make sure to get my breasts examined every year (I had a hysterectomy a few years back) and I must say that HRT has been life changing for me. I was considering jumping off a bridge at some point. Now I am active, migraine and hot flashes almost completely gone and I have a bit more energy. I think every woman should make the decision for herself after weighing the pros and cons and this issue is not a one size fits all…

Thank you. I'm glad you had positive experiences with the progesterone and with HRT 😊 I'm post menopausal, taking hormones and plan be on them for life. They are a lifeline for me now for symptoms, and I also don't want to have fractures from osteoporosis in the future. We need to forget about those WHI headlines, they weren't true then or now. Having a doctor who is knowledgeable about menopause and cares about women's health is such a gift 💛

I'm so glad to hear about your experience, as a matter of fact I went looking to see what you do for menopause seeing you look so great. I couldn't find anything, and then this showed up. Thank you. I was on estrogen & progesterone for 6yrs. It took care of some symptoms but the progesterone made me extremely moody. I need it because I still have my uterus. I also gained weight. The manufacturers side effects in the package for estradiol are, heart attack, stroke, blood clots, breast cancer, cancer of the lining of the uterus, cancer of the ovary's , dementia. There are many more. These are the things the on-line doctors say it protects us from but the manufacturers say different. Very conflicting. I went off HRT in May and I'm still off. I feel fine. I've had a few hot flashes but nothing bad. I feel like I look better, my face and body not so bloated feeling. The verdict is still out whether I go back on or not but probably not.

My mom has her uterus removed age 32. I kept wondering why she wouldn’t get much help for her menopause symptoms she just turned 61. But now I get it. She would have needed hormone therapy in her 30s into maybe her 40s so 60 is two many decades past her last menstrual cycle. Great info! ❤ I take progesterone. I have a chronic migraine disorder, and when my hormones change around that time of the month, it triggers, a 72 hour migraine episode. Progesterone has reduced that significantly at least the hormonal migraine. I do suffer from other headache and migraines due to a TBI. But hey 1 less migraine episode a month, I’ll take it!!!

❤thanks for this video….these are always impactful and powerful in combating the misinformation out there. I’m 57, I’ve been on HRT for 6 years. It took a while to get the levels accurate….but great now and have been for 3 years. So happy to not deal with hot flashes, night sweats, moodiness 😊. It is astonishing that medical professionals have the wrong info and perpetuate the misinformation even today. This all started in the 70’s with one crazy study that journalists latched on to and which is still quoted…crazy‼️

I am very sorry to hear your first two children are waiting in heaven. But, thank you for talking about it. And to telling us about your experience with your hormonal issues. In 2010, I lost my uterus because I was too stressed, and too tired from anemia to be bothered with caring about my hormones. I had a serious hormonal and metabolic imbalance, and the surest cure was to take it all out. I am glad to hear that you had a mixed opinion from your medical professionals. Women need to know that doctors are people and their opinions differ. I am certain I would have made the same choice I did even if my doctor had refused to treat me, but I knew I had options. Not all women have options to help keep them healthy and feeling feminine. Fertility and menopause are serious issues. It's honestly ridiculous that a man can say he perceives issues in his sexual health, and the entire pharmacy is opened. But if a woman has cramps, or hot flashes, too many times we're told it's normal and to deal with it. It's sad, but I'm grateful you were able to tell us your story. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Nancy. I was genuinely under the impression that HRT was not a real option in Canada unless one had a condition that required the removal of ovaries (early menopause). I’ve seen lists of possible symptoms and there’s only one I have not yet experienced. Definitely experiencing lots! But, like yourself, night sweats, interrupted sleep, as well as frequent insomnia, are my worst. Also want to mention that, because of your pelvic health video, I knew what that “chair” was for in the laser clinic when I happened to be sitting in that room for a follow up appointment for something else…. 😊

@alisamaximova I've stopped after 6yrs. It does take care of symptoms, but at what cost ? I feel better and safer off it. I know all about the bad WHI study, but please read the manufacturers' "side effects" for your patch. I believe the people who make the product. I can't read the progesterone side effects because its in a prescription bottle, but that stuff made me angry at the world. I'm much better off of it.
