Jasper, ex [kind-of] pro here. Remember track standing was developed on the track, and what's the track got? A bank! It's also super smooth and easy to roll a tiny bit forwards and backwards (fixed wheel makes this easier) which is the key. Face your front wheel toward a shallow incline, angle your wheel slightly toward your dominant (right or left) side to start, and then essentially 'lean-in' to the bank/hill. Flat grass, lol!! So difficult to track stand on!!! On the track you essentially create a "V" with your bike, where your rear wheel is facing down the track and your front wheel is pointing up, thus you can rest your weight in the balance and not cook your quads in the process. Try and emulate this whilst waiting at the traffic lights.

@@adamsempleable hey Adam! Thanks for this! Ah yes I’ve had lots of comments asking me to try it on a slope! I thought grass would be the best in case I fell 😂 thanks for taking the time to share with me some tips. Most detailed tips I’ve gotten! I’m trying to do it a bit everytime I hit a traffic light - Somehow I find it easier to stay seated on the saddle.

KEEP GOING!!! YOU ARE GETTING IT ! you already know the basics and what to do , i wanna share some tips coming from a fellow learner. don't fight to balance statically on one spot , instead focus on letting the bike move back and forth between your legs . there are basically 4 variations of trackstading wheel pointing left or right , left or right leg forward . for me i am left foot forward ,wheel pointing right , i am most comfortable there .(because my weight very naturally end to fall right ) so if i fall too much to the right i will move my bike forward to get my balance back under me . i f i start to fall on the left i will squeeze my front brake , weight my bars and push off my bars and release my brake to create a backward momentum to move backwards (this one needs some practice )

Hey thanks for the tips sir!! I’ve been getting better and better slowly at traffic lights. Not sure why I’m better at doing it seated though… but will use the tips you provided. The moving backwards part is hard! It usually helps when there’s an incline

That looks like a nice skill to learn/have. At the same time you give your inner child an opportunity to have fun and explore something new. My neighbours would probably worry about our shared grass area being destroyed if I try this with my MTB or gravel bike. Congrats on achieving your goal. With cleats! A round of applause. And somehow while watching this video my brain tried to remember if I was able to balance on the spot with the unicycle I had as a kid/teen. It may have been almost 20 years since I last rode that one wheeled thing. xD
@vilecorpses886 ай бұрын
@@oOTatusaOo thanks you!! 😂😂 actually I can ride an electric unicycle! So I thought this would be easy! So far the tips and comments I’ve gotten so far are all saying a slope or incline would help a lot with balancing. And without cleats of course. Maybe next time I’ll try a wheelie 😂😂 t

i've never managed to do it on a road bike, i'm only able to trackstand on a track bike, seems really hard since you can't back pedal. great vidéo and i really like the background music, great taste!

Practise in normal flat shoes, so you can put your foot down straight away easily and don't do it on grass. Keep going! You'll get there! It took me a long time to learn, but one day I could just do it.
