wow that came out great and looked like SO much work - if the fabric is bothering you maybe dye it another color to make it look more intentional/ cohesive? i feel like black or red could look really cool with the pattern and also hide the orange peeking through (or just dye it orange! haha) - although i don't mind the visible orange i think it looks cool! anyways i admire your dedication and think it came out really good :)

I think it is almost there. I would wear a neon mesh top under it to make it pop more. Black leather pants on bottom is a classic that won't detract from the top but be 'edgy' enough for the look. Loosen the lower half of the top so that it will stop bunching and attach the pieces you showed for the back.

This was a huge undertaking. If it was me I think I would have used a well fitting shirt to plot the pattern pieces onto so I knew I’d get a similar and correct fit. However I don’t think I would have ever done this in the first place because there’s no way I have the patience for that 😂

OMG it is gorgeous! What an art piece! My only suggestion is to maybe fit the back, so it isn't buckling, which should be pretty easy, since you would only need to pin a couple corners, instead of the whole thing, but, my goodness, i am so proud of you!

You could disassemble it, make some adjustments, and use the parts as a pattern for fabric you like more and the end result will look even better. I would also loosen it just a touch at the hips or disconnect the very last connection on the sides because it looks like it is tight enough there that it is keeping the fabric higher, adding to the puff of the back.

He can save this by putting a mesh top under it and taking some of the stuck up bits to that (the but on the shoulder) and just adding a few more appliqués to the front chest area and then taking in the back area.

Maybe a future project could be making a custom dress form of your body size/shape? I know I've seen some good tutorials for doing that on YT, like making it out of duct tape. Also you did amazing with this project, its so complex and beautiful 💚🌈

I advice to make slits on the sides at the end of the shirt, that way it wont get stuck on ur jeans/hips and it will fall better on your body

If it makes you feel better the professionals never just make one… there are multiple samples to find and change all the details But fabric is key ( as you have discovered) This garment made in a soft lightweight leather of vinyl would be so cool You could use a scalpel blade on cutting mat to cut tiny pieces- easier than scissors sometimes

I think what could be easier for next time, is to create a pattern of the fit you want for the piece and cut it out in a big sheet of paper. Then you have a base that fits you and lays flat, which will be easier to lay your decorative pieces on. You can also one day make whats called a ‘block’ which is a base pattern of your measurements that you can use to make other patterns. If you aren’t going to do many projects atm i think the first option would suffice!

Ok, 3rd comment on the one video so I hope this is not creepy, but as someone who sews a lot making a mock up (or muslin) in an old fabric is standard practice whn making something new and complicated, and you can see now how it can be perfected and if you were to make it again it would be perfect, cos it’s pretty cool as is.

This top is much better than you giving it credit for, I just think you've worked on it for so long you don't see how good it is, so you're not selling it as much as you could. When you think about what designers send models down the runway in it's just as much about the model as it is the design, they have to own it. In this case, I would just find someone who loved it, and wanted to wear it and let them show you how good it is, then you'll fall in love with it again.
