I don't hate cinnamon anymore, but back in ye olden days I made the poor choice of doing the cinnamon challenge when I was around 19 and I still don't love cinnamon. For the longest the smell alone made me nauseated, but I ruined that crap for myself being a stupid teenager lol

The stuffing inside the Gullbrød is marzipan, which is made by grounded almonds and sugar. People either love it or hate it - I'm in the latter category!

@@PerthNakhun Yeah, for me too! I'm from Denmark (another Scandiavian country like Norway), and marzipan is a very used filling in chocalate bars or especially for Christmas candy. I carefully avoid it To me, it almost feels like it grows in my mouth! But those who love it, are very passionate about it, adding different flavours etc., but it's not for me! 😁

I was trying to think of region-specific things to try but honestly, I can't think of a way to do that. But certain things are popular in certain regions of the US. Like, snacks I eat in the Southeast are nothing like snacks my friends in the Pacific Northwest eat, you know?

To be fair, Sørlandschips is good but some of the flavours is a hit or miss. As for Hockeypulver some might use it on ice cream but when I grew up at least we just licked it out the box! Im glad you didnt take a big bite out of it.

A big part of the "Melkehjerter" (Milkhearts) is the the fact that they are thin and imedeatly melts in your mouth. The "Stratos" (No translation) is also supposed to be really soft, which I heard that it wasn't. The "Hokey pulver" (Hokey dust) is supposed to be a powder, not a brick. The Paprika flavor potato chips are my favorite chip flavor, and I have never tasted the Thai flavor. The "Troika" is a layer of marzipan, truffle chocolate and raspberrygelly covered in dark chocolate. The texture is really good, but it seems like that is something you didn't get to experience. That was my biggest worry, when I thought about sending chocolates to Thailand. There is no way they come all the way from Norway to 40++ C heat and not melt. The last thing I want is to give my bias food poisoning. If only airmail would have a refrigerated option 😢

I live in Alaska and our airline here I think has a refrigerator option because so many people come here for the salmon run and want to bring their fish home. Tragically it's not common anywhere else it seems.

I am Norwegian, and I really liked this video. Fun fact, the brand "Freia" is a chokolate factory from the South in Norway around Oslo. They only make chokolate based candy. And the brand "Nidar" is from Trondheim, that's in middle Norway. More spesificly, "Trøndelag" where i am from, they also have a lot of chokolate candy but also other types of candies. 😀 the white stuff inside the Troika bar and Gullbrød is Marzipan. Which is made from almonds. 😁

The Love hearts; when I was younger we bought this and asked questions. Then we interpreted the answers based on what was written on the hearts. Also; the Maarud paprika potato chips: you can try to eat them together with the melkehjerter. It's surprisingly alright!

The filling inside the Gullbrod chocolate bar is marzipan. Marzipan is fine ground almonds mixed with icing sugar. It can be sculpted into shapes of animals, fruit or toy figures, shaped into logs to be covered with chocolate or added to other ingredients to make royal icing for wedding cakes. I grew up on marzipan. It is well know in Europe. Particularly Germany. Being second generation German, I love marzipan. I have had Gullbrod and love it too.

I think the industry made marzipan tastes a bit off, compared to home made. Reason being they use bitter almonds I believe. I never liked industry marzipan, but I love the home made stuff. Real easy to make too.

You won Norway when you called Kvikk Lunsj (the chocolate covered wafer in green, yellow and red package) most delicious :-) It's a very traditional chocolate for hiking trips, and a real classic. I feel like alot of the taste and texture of the candies gets lost during shipping. Especially when evertyhing melts and blends into itself. Those milky hearts are definitely alot better when you can eat the thin slices one by one, same goes with the smash, those are supposed to be little cones covered with chocolate. So good

Maybe you should add a middle option for snacks that aren't "Snack" but aren't "Pass" either. e.g "Snack" for delicious snacks , "Eh?" for snacks that are ok but not snack level , "Pass" for bad snacks. (Also i agree Mint chocolate is the best😋 and also also Love hearts are British so i was surprised to see them in a Norwegian snacks video😅)

Hello from Norway! First of all, thank you for reviewing Norwegian snacks. We don't actually call any of these snacks, maybe except for the cinnamon lefse. These are all sweets, this is for special times only! Anyway, sad that you didn't like the Seigmenn, Gullbrød or Troika, those are some of my favorites. That nutty coconut thing is actually marzipan, which you tasted in the mangled corpse of a Gullbrød ("gold bread") and was the third layer of that mangled corpse of a Troika. Never cared much for potato chips, it's bad for your teeth (the startch sticks to your teetch ). There were two things in this video that I've never ever seen in a store, the pokemon thing, and the schlager taffel, never heard of those but maybe they have them in the more rural and uncivilized parts of Norway. You know, close to the Swedish border. Yuck.

Lefse (cinnamon and sugar cakes) are one off my favorite snacks in Norway, i almost always buy them when i’m in the store. Thank u for trying out Norwegian candy! Just to say: 2 of these snacks, I, as an Norwegian, have never heard of... The Pokemon stuff and the German stuff ( 23:11 ) What you said in the end is so true! We love to experiment with chocolate! Like we have even had competitions, where the big brands that makes almost all of our chocolate, have asked for what we would want in a chocolate bar. It's kind of mental how many different chocolate bars we have! Like in the candy aisle, we have usually half of it only with different chocolate stuff... And some of it gets so weird, and so much sugar that it feels like you are going to throw up... but then you have those things that you would never expect tastes good, but ends up tasting delicious!🤷🏽‍♀ I have to say tho, I'm very proud of our chocolate! I have tried different kinds when traveling, but nothing is even close to as good... don't know what we do different, but it taste completely different to any other chocolate I've tried🙈
