Our area (Texas) is so competitive, the girls have taken gymnastics/cheer since they were little. There is no way someone with zero experience would make a squad here (unless a very small town perhaps). Congrats to you for going for it and making the JV team!

I'm a captain this year so I've made it known in my squad that mistakes are totally fine, as long as you are able to get yourself back on track and not completely give up! This is my senior year I'm really going to miss cheering :(

I remember feeling that way when I was a freshman trying out for colorguard (Dancers with marching band) with zero experience. I ended up being a natural and team captain my junior and senior year. Made me almost cry when she got the results because I’ve been through times where I spent time trying out for a group and didn’t get in. However, I was able to make it in the next year! It’s always emotional when something you want to do pays off and you’re able to make it in! I’m so proud of you!

Everyone PLEASE take this advice bc I wish I had realized this in middle school 😭 middle school is THE time to be trying out for sports and things you’re interested in, because in high school they’re much more serious and it’s going to be a lot harder to make a team for a sport you’ve never played before

My school, (At least the sports I did) let everyone on, despite how good or bad you were. But I think for Basketball and Baseball they cut people.

Same I tried out too without being flexible at all or knowing how to do any stunts or flips! I made my high school jv team because of Anna Mcnulty on KZbin! She made me way more flexible and I was able to do cheer jumps easily I’m also a freshman goodluck in cheer! :)
