I Tried playing F1 Challenge in 2024...its broken

So, here's the thing. This is not completely a game. It's actually the base for RFactor. So you have to play around a lot with the setups to be comfortable. You also have to move the brake bias around a lot. The game is essentially a long learning curve, and I won't even lie, I'm not the best to help you cross it. But it can be a really enjoyable experience

This game has practically every season of F1 modded into it and it's so easily moddable that I've started my own racing universe in it. Hands down, the best F1 game ever made

- You restart races with Y - The deadzone can be disabled in the control settings - there are premade setups you can load that may stabilize your car. - otherwise there is alway stability control you can enable with F4 - or just tweak the setup yourself, also for brake balance adjustment - you can skip the intro with spacebar - there are custom .exe and 3DConfig files that let you use higher resolutions And so much more! It's pretty much the predecessor for rFactor so it's quite realistic and of course not for everyone 😉😉

Massive skill issues right there. :D You really need to play a lot with the setups to make things work. Also as someone already mentioned, you're better off with the F1 Challenge VB mod as it allows you bigger resolutions and has everything from 1950-2024.

@@Diabolical-Tyrant I disagree as well. There were mods there that revolutionized F1C modding on its day, such as RH2005, CTDP 2004, CREW F1 Seven 1974-1975, GTR 2002, CMT 2020 or VirtuaLM Group C. VB nurtures from all these. Currently is still quite sluggish and its a permanent WIP. It will refine through time, but it still needs time

Yeah I have been doing a series playing f1 challenge for a few months now, you have to be so ridiculously calculated and smooth to just keep it on track. Fun once you understand how to use the brake bias and set it up though

LnzoB, this is the best F1 game ever, and it has many seasons, awesome physics, great force feedback, you can get a lot of mods in this game, which could make your experience better - you can take James Early for example, who has more subs than you. And there is also telemetry so you can see how are you doing. And the thing is you didn't have that much of a good time, because there's a very big difference between these kind of cars and the current F1 cars like F1 23 and 24. And also you've probably turned every assist off, which is the worst thing to do in F1C.

maybe you set your steering wheel ffb setups wrong way ,if use them opposite its easier spin, also yes you can skip grid by spacebar. deadzone exist because there are players who play games with broken hardware, those all are possible setup in game

(Damm yt deleted mi comment so here again) First set the game to windows 98 compability or get f1 online challenge .exe that fix majority of compaibility bug, then settings controlers in controll section, in digital part turn the speed sensivity to 0%, then look in controler 1 and put deadzone to 0%. Set in dificulty the AI strenght to something like 100%, and agresivity generaly 75% its fine but in monaco should be close to 0% For restart touch the Y button And about handling, you need to make a setup, specialy touch the brake bias that vanilla setup make very oversteery. And you can use helps like stability to complete a lap This game is old but gold, its the most realistic vanilla f1 game ever made and have a great AI (not to the level of GP4), track not are very realistic and some have AI broken (like monaco and imola) but still. You need to give another oportunity

Well the game literaly have suport from engineers and drivers so i dont think this not realistic The problem of difficulty really was fault of those default setup the car has, you need to make one from sourselve or find a setup that fit you so you can race without that problem

This game is such a pain to drive. I have it on PS2 though. I have every F1 video game on console from F1 (96) Ps1 thru 2024 except 1. And this game on a controller is undrivable. F1 98 is slightly better with F1 99 being marginally over that. I have thousands of hours playing f1 games on controller and this is one of the very few I just can't figure out. My problem is the sensitivity. Once you move that thumb stick left or right, the car just turns full speed in that direction. You can't really ease it in the corners. It's kept me from an extremely fun looking game. I plan on eventually getting a PC when the next Gen consoles comes out. I'm 38 and have only done consoles. I still have my series x, xbox one, Xbox 360, backwards compatible ps3, standard ps3, ps2, ps1 and play any season from 96-06 & 10-24 (don't have f1 2009 as never had a wii or psp). Really wish I could figure this one out.
