I actually remembered the video from earlier this year. What an amazing experience! And I would say, you should have stayed on for the Atlantic crossing. It is an experience for a lifetime, as the captain described one should seek. Love the videos and would encourage you to post more often. Cheers!

I like your attitude, and your thought process. Remember the Chinese proverb that states, "a journey of a thousand miles, starts with the first step." Now comes the next step. Another quote..."Not all who wander, are lost." I've lived through 75 summers, and just recently acquired a kayak, general purpose, but really a fishing kayak. I plan on doing some exploring, and living from the sea. Why.? Because the challenge is there. I'm looking to where your next step takes you. Keep looking forward. Stay focused. Florence, if I can recommend and interview subject, it would be Sven Yrvind and also Mr. & Mrs. Martin, of Round Pond, Maine; their daughter, Holly Martin, has a youtube channel called “Wind Hippie Sailing”, as she’s currently circumnavigating as a solo sailor. She was born and raised on their circumnavigation, and they literally wrote books and magazine articles on sailing. Mr. Martin currently builds and restores old sailboats, but BOTH of them are incredible wealths of knowledge and still do deliveries and boat-sitting.

Excellent! Now you need to look up James Wharram catamarans. As big a boat as this one is, it may be easier for you to try a smaller boat, at least at first. There’s one lady who sails a 26 foot cat along the Dalmatian coast. Her vessel’s name is Ariki. She has posted some KZbin videos that you may like. Incidentally, I think you very brave to take off on this adventure, not knowing the captain or what he’s like. Most I believe are good people, but there are some that are not so. Good luck out there. In some countries ( it may be everywhere) the law is that if it is unregistered and abandoned (you will need to ask around the locals to gather evidence and try to find the owner, just to be polite really) you can go to the Government marine office, pay the annual tax and the registration of ownership and you have a boat. It’s worth looking into. After that you will have significant time, effort, skill (which you can learn) and money to make it sea worthy. The authorities like this as it gets stink boats off the water and restored and used instead of slowly turning to junk. That Wharam, took someone three years to build in their back garden and maybe USD30k plus. It may have some rot, which should be fixable.
