It's normal for tinnitus to fluctuate when we start to use sound therapy. Often times, tinnitus will increase when you attempt to mask it. It's important to keep the volume of sound therapy below the level of tinnitus to avoid it getting louder and for best long term outcomes.

I'm 39 and my tinnitus started about 7 months ago. Strangely there are some days when it completely stops for a full day. I'm not sure why. On bad days I cannot make it stop and it's often very distracting. I've also noticed that the ringing is loudest when I wake up form an afternoon nap.

@@voodooaa I haven't noticed any difference in relation to my sleeping position. This morning I had a little bit of ringing in my ears, not too distracting. Then as soon as I started working and put on my headphones, the ringing got very loud.

This didn't change my high pitched tinnitus (>10 kHz) at all, but made my low frequency tinnitus (67 Hz) disappear for about 20 seconds. After 20 seconds it came back much louder but got to a normal level after about a minute. We use a similar method in our hum-tone-hearer community cause a lot of the affected can't differentiate their low-frequency tinnitus from actual hum-tones or, more often, don't want to believe what they hear is not an actual sound.

I did it 4 times. The level was around 6 prior to intervention. Then 4/5 after the 4th. With some variation. Then it got better as time went on and the variation became more on the low side3-4. Awesome.

Can someone explain this? I did the tapping exercise, and it drastically changed the sound of my right ear tinnitus (the left one stayed unchanged). For 10 seconds, it felt like a small bomb exploding in my ear before it returned to "normal." Any opinions on what happened @treblehealth?
@treblehealth
@treblehealth 4 күн бұрын
Typically, 50% of people will notice tinnitus relief with the tapping exercise. There is still more research to be done on why the outcomes differ drastically from one person to another. It's hard to say why you experienced relief in one ear but not the other.

I’m so lucky, I had tinnitus for 28 years, Covid jab made it much worse and took me 18 months to get used to it, now I have pulsatile tinnitus in one ear that I have to habituate to / and get checked out. I am starting to hate my brain.
@treblehealth
@treblehealth 24 күн бұрын
It sounds like you've been through a lot with your tinnitus, especially with the recent challenges after getting the Covid vaccine. Visiting your local ENT specialist is a good step to take. They can assess the pulsatile tinnitus in your ear and provide guidance on how to manage and possibly alleviate the symptoms.

Worked for me. Wow! About a 6/7 before (left ear/right ear), down to about a 2-left / 3-right for about.... Wait. I can hear the overhead fan in the bedroom now, and the sound of distant early morning traffic on the highway about a mile away. Birds! I think I'll cry... It's slowly coming back, but not to as loud as it was before. Maybe about a 4/5? I tried it on just one ear and it seems to work for both ears if I just do one. That's just wild. THANK YOU, thank you!

It immediately halved my tinnitus fro 4 to a 2. Took about 3 mins to rebuild up to the 4 again. My issue seems to be related to neck and jaw tension. Massage, manipulation and white noise when asleep seem to be helping a lot. I was a 6/7 in volume a month ago. Oh, and I have cut out all alcohol most of my caffeine intake too!

I was doing this when I first got my 24/7 tinnitus, desperately searching online how to resolve tinnitus. Not only did it make it worse, it made me feel like I whiplashed my head, got dizzy, made myself get a headache, back of head very sore, and my coworkers at work thought I had a serious mental problem doing that. I would not recommend as it DOES NOT HELP.☹️

I had to quit nicotine and alcohol before it got better but sound therapy by far worked the most been a 3 months since it started im hoping it gets better and not just for a day. It did get better for me but not in volume just how much i pay attention to it. Which does lower it somehow but it gets loud if you give it too much attention, maybe soon it will lower, keep your mind strong as you fight it, we are all in this together. I hear so many people who have the tinnitus learn to ignore it, but never actively try all these different avenues to bring it down and get rid of it. You have to believe and train your brain. Or try different types of holistic and physical treatments. Even hypnotherapy as well If you have Somatic T, try chiropractor and all those other things that might get rid of it.
