This is a fantastic video. I've been smoking on and off for a while, and I'm making a push to make this quit my last. I see no reason to do it anymore, there's too much to do and not enough motivation left after smoking a bowl. I'm happy for you and your youtube channel, and I'm grateful that you chose to expose this part of yourself to your audience. Vaping is def way worst than anyone (gov or corp) says. As someone who also quit smoking around two years ago, vaping was just so hard to drop altogether but I finally did last year and hope everyone else will too. If you're reading this, this is your sign to stop vaping! Much rather anyone hit a dab pen than a vape ever.

@sheffaustin7 ай бұрын
Happy to hear you stopped! 🙌 it’s crazy how socially acceptable it is to vape nowadays. I was able to quit cigarettes cold turkey just fine despite having smoked them for years, but vaping, despite it being a more recent development, took me at LEAST six months of on and off “trying to quit” before I actually did. A big thing that helped me was that flavored vapes got banned in California (San Diego? idk). And I figured that if I’m going to smoke “tobacco flavored” anything that I might as well smoke the real thing. That had more of an impact on me quitting than actual health problems did, lol. I know people are still getting the flavored vapes somehow, but rather than figuring out how I just decided it was time to stop. Glad I did, and it looks so stupid in hindsight. As for dab pens, I think the convenience is neat but I always preferred the high and flavor profile of actual flower. I could get absolutely blasted from dab pens and extracts and have tried every method of making them work, but nothing beats the satisfaction of rolling and smoking a joint/spliff of freshly ground buds for me. At least in terms of cannabis.

Not the same thing but your ‘whole decade’ perspective is also what knocked sense into me and made me finally recover from anorexia. Developed it at 10, finally started recovering at 20 and I’m 22 now and completely free from that demon. I had like a whole ass epiphany that I’d been suffering for that long and started sorting my shit out, substance issues along with it aside from vaping that’s proving to ironically be the hardest thing haha. Even though I ended up with long-term health problems from anorexia and was/am already grappling with multiple physical disabilities, the mental freedom is so incredible and so damn worth it! Substance addiction is kinda similar to how eating disorders affect the psyche🤔
@sheffaustin7 ай бұрын
I’m happy for you recovering from your anorexia! The mental freedom that comes with this kind of development is unparalleled, and it’s crazy what taking responsibility for yourself and being accountable for your actions and the results/consequences that come with them can do for you the longer you keep it up. I’ve found the confidence that comes with the capability to overcome those struggles to be super valuable and it’s something I intend to uphold for as long as it makes sense, regardless of what people think of it. Good luck with the vaping thing though, if quitting is something you want to do 😅 Out of everything I’ve ever done that was the hardest one to stop by far, and it took quite a few close calls with my health and some external motivation for me to actually let go of that one (and even then it sucked for like the first six months, lol). It’s funny because I’ll entertain the idea of smoking a cigarette despite not doing so for 6+ years thinking I’ll be fine if I did (especially just to smoke a spliff again for once in my life), but hitting a vape again is just a no go for me because I’d rather not risk ever having to go through that kind of resistance again 😂

If you like playing vanilla, you should at least consider running some quality of life mods. Especially better scan (or whatever it's called). It doesn't offer any real game-breaking advantage and it just lets you see exactly whatever you're looking at and it counts all the treasure value on your ship (very accurately, even). The mod eventually breaks when you look at too many treasures in a pile at once, but the ship total still works- I tend to just subtract the quota requirement from the ship total and use that number as what must remains on the ship.
@sheffaustin7 ай бұрын
I used to run ShipLoot and similar QoL mods for those reasons, but now that I’ve done 100+ different run concepts and handcrafted 100+ different custom modpacks for them I’ve come to appreciate the times when I can just play the game without ever having to open up Thunderstore/R2ModMan, even if it’s just to boot up a standard QoL set. It’s to the point where the minor inconveniences of raw vanilla are a breath of fresh air.

You got a favourite anime? Mine’s Angel Beats but Overlord’s second place 😎
@sheffaustin7 ай бұрын
This is a question I revisit often because of how nuanced it ends up becoming 😂 I plan on making videos going over my favorite anime and recommendations, but for now I’ll say put these up there: -Yakitate! Japan, because its brand of humor resonates with me super hard. Older anime but it’s aged super well (Dio is there too). -Bungo Stray Dogs, because it was my introduction to Japanese literature and the characters are fantastic. Anime itself is okay by today’s standards but it’s just enough to elevate the source material -Summer Time Rendering, which is at the top of my list for anime recommendations. Has all the bells and whistles that make for a great anime and the fact that the entire cast is capable of critical thinking is refreshing, and the only downside is that it premiered only on Disney+ Japan so not as many people got to watch it (it’s available on Hulu now though). -Hunter x Hunter, which is likely the “best anime” on my list of favorite anime. I revisit it quite a lot, especially most of the Chimera Ant arc, and the only reason it would lose points to anime nowadays is that it’s older in comparison (the new HxH is from 2011, lol). But in my head HxH doesn’t lose points on any front other than personal preference for story beats and for not making it to the Dark Continent arc in the anime (and likely remaining an unfinished masterpiece for understandable reasons). I haven’t seen Angel Beats or Overlord yet, but they’re on my list of anime to watch and make content for when I do eventually make that pivot. Angel Beats because it’s one I hear all the time in anime discussions, and Overlord because it’s one of Larry’s favorite anime!

It's interesting, because weed is illegal in my country but since a large majority of the internet is centred around america where it's legal in many states, i hear a lot of it so casually but i thought it was kind of just a popular casual lawbreak. But 2 weeks ago, i went to new york and saw weed shops absolutely EVERYWHERE. I didn't even know it was legal at all anywhere in the world at that point. I knew about 4/20, but i thought it was mostly a joke and wasn't a thing that normal people did due to its illegal nature. But yh, rant over. TLDR: Didn't realise weed was legal anywhere as it isn't in my country.

4/20 IS mostly a joke, but stoners will smoke for any occasion including a meme holiday. The only difference 4/20 brings to a stoner’s life is an extra laugh or two that they’re consuming on said day, or have an occasion to be a bit extra with their consumption. But yeah, weed is super common here in America to the point that businesses have started making 4/20-exclusive specials, especially in terms of food, to cater to the people are celebrating to any capacity (or just want to support 420-friendly businesses)

@sheffaustin7 ай бұрын
creativity in general! I wanted to be a writer for a long time, so I would get high and document whatever thoughts and emotions I experienced in that state and see how far I could take it. At some point I realized that I never needed substances to access that creative state, and that if I needed substances to get there then I had other dependency problems that I should address first. I then realized that my “getting high for creative purposes” was just an excuse to access the instant relief that getting high brings instead of actually pursuing creative endeavors, so I focused more on how to not rely on instant gratification practices and develop the discipline for delayed gratification habits instead. If anything, I’m MORE creative when I’m not high, and since I’m not lost in the sauce during the creative process I can switch between creativity and productivity at will, which is something I couldn’t do while stoned. But yeah, I’m sharing this part of my story to at least bring awareness to what a decade of smoking can do for a person. It’s not as drastic as the stories in the anti-smoking ads that show people dying or hooked up to breathing machines, but I do think it’s a story that people can relate to. Especially now that smoking and especially weed smoking is more socially acceptable nowadays. I don’t think abstinence is the only way, but I do think it’s important to be honest with what you’re actually doing. And as I am now, I’m not someone who can function “with moderation”, as evidenced by my past ten years of living life
