The logical choice is rereleasing a well-received older game with minuscule graphics improvements to a nostalgic audience at full price, rather than devote years of work to make a product that's basically identical to the old one with no guarantee that it'll sell well. Plus these games are perfect as they are.

That may have happened, had Skywalker Saga been better received. I think TT are well aware that Skywalker Saga is not a fan-favourite game, and many vocal critics dislike it compared to Complete Saga. Many key moments are not replayable because they weren't in 'levels', each movie only has 5 levels now instead of 6 showing that lack of replayable content, and otherwise the game is full of lifeless hubs that exist solely for tedious side quests, puzzles, and 1200 goddamn kyber bricks! I don't think TT will make any more games in that style, but never say never I suppose.

So basically what I'm understanding here is that this new collection is barely any different from the original. It's just graphical and technical stuff, but no gameplay changes. They didn't even combine the two games into one like Lego Star Wars did, it's just a launcher. As far as I can tell, this was just released to make more money off of people expecting to get something new. One good side to it, though, is that people who have never played the original two games should get this one.

They did improve a few things over the original releases. When you select a character it says their abilities under their names, you can change character variants manually instead of cycling through all of them and you can filter characters to categories like dark wizards, gryffindor, slutherin etc.

@IDK_2772 Those are certainly awesome improvements, but it's not enough to make it worth buying the collection when I have both of the original games already. If I didn't have the originals, the collection would be perfect for me, but it wasn't made for people who have already bought them before.

In reference to your comments about the lighting and coloring being different in the newer version, it does seem like they applied some improved texture mapping and lighting methods in their graphic rendering process. You can distinctly tell that the wooden beams and stone walls at 2:01 have significantly changed. The grains of wood are of higher quality, and the stone likely uses some displacement mapping or normal mapping to create that bumpy effect. I'm sure having improved computer graphics resources allowed the developers to improve on their rendering methods. Somewhat subtle changes to the untrained eye, but it creates a warmer, more enhanced feel to the game!

After originally playing the original version of the game the new collection does look like it has some color changes pacifically the lighting and it would also be cool to see them make a collection of other games or a collection of a totally new Lego game maybe based on a different movie or tv show now that would definitely be fun to play

We know that the Skywalker engine got dumped (bcuz Skywalker saga was kind of terrible), so I'm really really hoping we'll see something that combines the character roster of marvel superheroes 2, the open world new York of superheroes 1, and the full story of avengers. really wish they'd gone the extra mile and updated the minifigure prints as an extra. The real minifigs have improved so much since the 2010 wave that's it's jarring to see the old ones in all the cutscenes and gameplay now. Even if they'd left everything else the same but updated the texture files that would have been a much better reason to release this

Lego HP: Collection isn't new for PlayStation, cus it's just basically a update from the PS4 version to PS5. No changes at all but just with the lightning and stuff + combining all Years 1-4 & 5-7 trophies together. I feel not including the physical edition is annoying and rude. I am from the UK and I have every single Lego Video Game Believe it or not. I have a feeling that Lego Harry Potter could be updated again, because a movie of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child is being created. So if it does happen that would make the game more incredible. Lego Harry Potter is the only lego game I have completed. I have completed 1-4 & 5-7 as well. More incredible Lego Video Games to come out in future I expect.

TT Games have been real quiet. From 2005 to 2019 without fail, there have been annual Lego games. In 2011, they released three! There was a three year hiatus 2019-2022 while they were making Skywalker Saga, and we've had a 2.5 year hiatus since then. I really hope they're working on something good, because they're not behind either version of the HP Collection, and it's Guerilla Games who are making the Lego Horizon game.

If I am correct, sadly no. They lost the exclusive rights to LEGO games, that is why we got so many LEGO games in the past few years that were not made by them. And they are distancing themselfs from LEGO

@@Hendys I don't believe they're distancing themselves from Lego. TT Games are owned by WB, so they'll likely just be making Lego games based on WB properties like DC and LoTR from now on. They'll also, probably, spend more time per project now. Whilst TT lost the exclusive rights, everything about the 'old' style of Lego games was theirs. Even the game engine was TT Games' own. Personally, that explains why all the recent games have not used existing IPs, and that TT Games will still produce games in their previous continuity (i.e. TT Games would make a prospective Batman 4, as opposed to another developer, and these new developers are making Horizon, 2K, Fortnite etc)

@@Hendys After all, there's been a job listing for TT Games, hiring for their next project The listing for Senior Game Programmer reads, "The project you will be on will be a major IP-based Lego game built in Unreal." That confirms that TT Games are currently working on a new Lego game, it's based on a 'major' intellectual property which could be DC Comics, Middle-Earth, or possibly something else in the WB repertoire (I doubt that they'll be making Disney-owned IP Lego games again), and the fact it's the Unreal engine isn't surprising since TT confirmed they'd be using Unreal after how badly their in-house NTT engine went during Skywalker Saga development.

If they actually combined them and had some gamplay improvements like the complete saga then it would be worth it. Also means you can use characters from the second game in the first game and vice versa right?

I was just playing the Xbox One version and i see no damn difference at all. I'll pass on this upgrade. Just like how Rockstar botched the upgrade of GTA V and slapped a Series S/X logo on it and resold the game to make more profit.

I have played the collection and I can't say much has changed the only thing that's different is the things what blitz has mentioned the characters still grumble instead of talking and you don't get to see much of London or wherever it is you are so to me it's just a let down
