I like that Fender is open to being adventurous with their guitars - far more then some guitar companies I can think of. This collaboration with Jack White has produced some very cool products. Innovation from one of the oldest brands out there is a welcome thing. Along with what Fender Japan does with the Fender line, they are not just catering to the Luddite customer.
@steveduran16642 сағат бұрын
I'm sorry, but Fender saying that powder coat is going to scratch easy is BS unless they are using a really crappy powder coater, powder coat is what we use to restore and refinish bikes in the cycling industry because of how strong it is, the only thing stronger is ceracote which is used in the fire arm industry. So if Fender is claiming that powder coat will scratch easily they are either full of it or using the absolute worst power coater out there.

Jack White has probably spent the good part of a decade figuring that thing out. I've seen quite a few prototypes over the years of him with these weird teles. Then you would see him a year later and he'd be like "it's the same guitar as last time but we added this and changed that and then repainted it. Doesn't matter if you love or hate the way it looks. Innovation is awesome. And the people saying it's hideous. If it were up to those types of people we'd be playing the same sh:t that they had in the 50s. I remember in the 80s people saying that Floyd Rose' and EMG's were hideous. Fuq how it looks. I want the sound. I want the function and playability. It's an instrument. A tool. Not a piece of furniture. Get that bish playing and sounding right. We'll worry about the looks later. Not my style of guitar. But I'd love to try it and see what it's all about. Very interested in checking one out.

I think this thing is fabulous! There's no chance I'll buy one but i really like the pickup variations and their sounds. One thing I noticed which might be completely off topic is that Trogly's guitar has the Bigsby wire bar with the bend dipping towards the bottom of the guitar - but when i saw Jack's it had the bend facing upwards (towards the player face which i thought was somewhat odd). Anyway, it would be great if someone who has played the wang-bar in both orientations could chime in and let us know the difference in how it feels and plays.

I have a 1952 Tele design that Leo drew up but never got past the blueprints and it has a body that looks like a Jazz Master except it is NOT offset. It had to have it custom made. It has a Tele bridge PU but a neck and middle are Strat PU's. I never blend the Tele PU with the Strat PU's so it sounds like what you would expect. Either a Tele or a Strat.

Look, I grew up, from my childhood, loving and appreciating jack white as an artist, as a guitar player, he made me and my friends really get into guitar. When he had that blue custom tele back in like 2012 I was 100% sold, I wanted a tele like that. I even got a tele as my first guitar because of it. So of course I’ve waited nearly a decade for jack to release a signature fender. Why on earth would anyone spend 3,500 hundred dollars on this. I am so sad this guitar is UNOBTAINABLE. I know jack needs quality and top of the line, but come one dude, real fans can never appreciate you. Unless they are over privileged in which 3,500 hundred dollars is just being wasted. I’ll have it one day, when I win the lottery. And don’t get me started about the amp. Which is arguably cooler. Much love ❤️

Yikes, what an expensive load of "no thanks". Same way I feel about that weird yellow amp. I don't like gear that prevents me from doing things, especially things that most other gear can do. I guess I'm supposed to find the arbitrary limitations inspiring to my creativity? Pass. No im-between combined pickups? Despite all the complicated-looking controls? First mod, if I had to use this guitar, would surely be a 5-way (or 10-way, better yet) pickup xwitch. And re-purpose that ridiculous 3-way switch masquerading as a knob... Oy, oy, oy. Definitely, string-thru and ferrules; might as well keep the Bigsby I guess, since it's already there... Basically, instead of this, one could buy several really nice guitars and a nice tube amp. But if you find it artistically invigorating to throw yourself a mental curve with a weird toy like this, why not.
