The average human reaction time is about 0.25 seconds for visuals and around 0.17 for Audio. If you went after when you saw the marble hit in the 100 meter run with 1.24 seconds, it would almost perfectly match up with 100 m/s, a nice round number for the devs to set the max speed to

Do it at a 45° angle and put like maybe 20 meters of boost pads. Another idea, if you put boost pads on top of each other so that 2 or 3 boost pads affect the marble at the same time does it multiply the effect. Because if it does you can have just a bunch of boostpads on top of each other without gridsnap and have instant acceleration

@NCR Veteran Ranger No? You can count frames on any video, it's just that slow mo cameras have more frames that you can count. If you have another marble spawner at the end, you can count the frames between when that marble spawns and when the original marble reaches the end of the track.

@@Mango_Eter That's not how it works either. You don't count the frames on the screen itself, that would be impossible. What you do is count them in something like editing software, where you can go frame-by-frame until it reaches the end.

Few suggestions: 1. there is the follow cam for marbles - would have been interesting to see. 2. Since the bounce pad increased the energy you could have had bounce pads on both ends (for the single marble) and then you would at some point probably achieved the speed of sound 3. On the multi marble track having only one row of marbles would have circumvented the collision problem was fun to watch though
@Krebzonide
@Krebzonide 3 жыл бұрын
I did some more accurate timing. At 6:57 it takes 32 frames to go from spawned to hitting the block after 10m of boost. At 12:07 it takes 82 frames to go from spawned to hitting the block after 100m. From this we can tell it takes 50 frames to go 90m without boost. 50 frames is 5/6 of a second, so 90/(5/6) = 108m/s. I think you could beat the sound barrier with around 35m of boosts. If you dropped the marble into a tube then have those circular boosts around it you could also prevent it flying away.

I wonder if you could rebuild the Large Hadron Collider in Marble Run! Lanes in a 90° angle to the floor, boosters all the way and then two spawners (clockwise and counter-cw) so that two marbles collide in the middle. The track would be almost 315 m long. Science + Marbles sounds like too much fun!

You could have marbles between two bounce pads bouncing up and down, then take away the top one and measure how high it goes before falling. Assuming the game doesn't have air resistance and you can find out the gravitational constant, you should be able to calculate the speed it had on its last bounce.

You could have determined the fraction of time speed by doing a normal marble rolling down 1 meter of track with just one boost, then do slow motion to time again. Then the ratio between those times would be the multiplier to use for what time you get on the slowest slow-mo time to time the full length. That would at least get things more accurate for an ending speed and reduce some of the human error of hearing the sound to stopping the time.
@fabianschultz
@fabianschultz 3 жыл бұрын
It looks so much faster because these are 1cm marbles. Usually you're dealing with bigger objects meaning this marble needs to traverse it's own size 100x for 1m while the other things were mostly longer than 1m already. This leads to the difference in perception of speed. Just like a bug can look like it's running super fast while it's barely walking speed for a human.

If the bounce pads keep adding speed, then set them up 100m apart in whatever orientation, and let the marble keep bouncing back and forth till you either break the sound barrier, or break physics. In order to better time it, time the full speed travel time of that marble going the first time then the max slow motion of it traveling the same route to figure out what speed it's playing at, I suspect 1/8 or 1/16

Put bounce pads on both ends and maybe use a 0 gravity thing to reduce friction or sth I dunno, then u could maybe get sth that goes supersonic, and if you wait long enough theoretically you can also make the marble go faster than the speed of light but it definitely not gonna see that marble tho. Also, you can probably just go to the recording and count the frames and use that to get how long the marble took to travel that distance to get a measurement that is as accurate and can be. Slow mode can make that even more accurate

You should calculate how long it takes to go from zero to the end of the boost sections n and subtract that time! Then just take the remainder of that 90m and that would be the true speed. It takes a little bit of time to accelerate up to fill speed! There is a chance they were actually going the speed of sound!

So close and you missed the obvious. Remove ramp at the beginning and place a bounce pad at both ends of the tracks. If marvels bounce off pads with more force than they initially had as you proved, then getting the speed you want is easy just keep bouncing them back and forth. The distance between the pads on that restrained track should allow it to stabilize between bounces. Would like to see you use this map create a loop reaching to all he edges of this map.A particle accelerator of sorts. More points if you spin it inwards with progressively smaller loops.

Scrapman forgot you could change the gravity to 0.1 so there is less friction thus making the marble faster

I would like to see this, but as a spiral. And what would happen if, on both ends, there's a bouncepad. Would it be like in Portal or Sonic the Hedgehog where you just gain speed forever.

put another jump pad at the other end let's see if the marble gets banished to the place where time does not makes any sense

Just FYI, terminal velocity does not apply to objects that have force applied to them other then gravity. Terminal velocity is the maximum speed a falling object can obtain due to gravity.

fun fact: you would need 100,000,000 marbles to make a single layer of marbles across the whole map

You should try to make them go the speed of sound with the bounce pads

Scrapman just stack the speed boosts on one boost then you don't need to copy-paste them all every time you want to build another track

I am once again requesting a 4 player Beyblade battle with a twist, this twist being that every part (except the tip, tip gimmicks are optional) requires a gimmick, like bumper blades, a free spinning ring a tip that spins in the opposite direction of the top (could be useful for attack and defence) it doesn’t even require something technical, it could be an extra thick attack ring or the attack ring has a ton of blades, or the tip is uneven, making the Beyblade intentionally jump around the arena, resulting in better Arial attack, it could be anything that works
