I Tried to fix all the Jeep's OIL Leaks!

This is the project I've been putting off for a while and apparently will never get fixed. The Jeep 4.0 has oil leak issues from every location it can leak from. I make my attempt to fix all of the issues, but one will need some more attention.

The factory used blue loctitie on the oil filter adapter torx bolt... the reason why it's so hard to remove.

I just did the oil filter adapter on a 96 Cherokee, and there are a couple more o-rings inside the assembly.

I thought I had a rear main seal leak also but I did the oil filter adapter and the leak stopped. Alot of guys do rear main seals and find out later it was the oil filter adapter.

I would have rolled new bearings in, and replaced the oil pump with a hi volume version. FYI, I've seen dozens of vid on this procedure, yours is the best so far, great camera work.

It's a stock engine. Why would you need a high-volume oil pump?

Nice video! I’m getting ready to do the same thing. Any video of the torque converter bolts? I use wix, too, but heard the mopar filter helps build more pressure. I installed that in my 99, and it seemed to help. I’ll be replacing the bearings and the pump to help with the oil pressure too. Hope you get that leak fixed. Hope I don’t run into that, too. Afraid I will. Thinking now of getting a new oil pan. Could it have been the RTV?

Torque converter bolts were tight. I'm fairly confident my leak is the small portion of the oil pan gasket that fits into the rear main cap. I had a heck of a time trying to get it to stay lined up. Worst part of the whole project was just the amount of grease and oil chunks falling all over me and the floor.

Did you know that the oil filter adapter has two more o rings on the shaft, it's like a plunger, you push it out and there's two small o rings, other than that, great video

I learned after doing the main one that it could have had the others. Oh well I guess. It's not leaking and I surely won't be messing with it anytime soon. Thanks!

Thanks!!! 6.5 inch lift makes for plenty of room to drop the pan.

Good video, but you were only suppose to use the RTV on the seal ears, not the outside of half of the rear main seal. You can use dish soap to help it slide in easier, but that's it.

Yep learned this one the hard way. Took 3 tries but I finally got it. Made a follow-up video on it. I try to keep everything open and honest for people watching so they know what to expect on a project. It's been bone dry since the last fix. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!!

The what?.?.? Hahaha I was only aware of the main adaptor to block seal. Everything checked out ok with no new leaks around it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I just did the exact same thing and ended up with the exact same leak. About to start round 2. I read the manual and you're supposed to use thread lock 515 on the rear main. I was thinking maybe that's where i went wrong. I'm going to try to reuse the oil pan gasket. I didnt use much rtv the first time. Also read that the valve cover can often be the culprit on these leaks... That's next.
