Caution to others: Dont chug water like that. Chugging huge amount of water like that would just put immense pressure on your kidneys. Drink all your water whole day and especially when you are thirsty. Also, keep in mind, your body is getting water from the food you eat/drink too. When you are really thirsty, you can easily drink 500-600ml in one go.
@SGast
@SGast 4 жыл бұрын
I think it also says to consume about 3 liters of water not to drink them. If you eat a wholefood diet you already consume a lot of water through your food so 3 litres might be overkill anyway. A good indicator is actually the color of your pee. It should be pale yellow and not clear or you are flushing your system.

Glad you mentioned this. Your kidneys can only process so much water so fast (about 1L an hour) and drinking too much can lead to water intoxication or death.

Just to correct, while it’s true that chugging water more than needed is bad, it is not because of your kidney’s inability to process it. It is dangerous because it causes dilutional hyponatremia aka low blood sodium levels which is an essential electrolyte for many bodily processes. The healthy kidneys can handle so much more than the daily stress we subject to it, you can even thrive with just one.

what kind of change? after about 10 days of low carb diet a carb addicted person can pass withdraw symptoms, lose up to 10 lbs of water weight (still actually good for you it's unnecessary weight), and with the right diet even lower elevated blood pressure. It will also affect your brain / mood, as what's flowing in you blood is form what you've recently eaten. Diet is one thing that can affect you as soon as you change it. Tbh. If you are gonna put the effort and want to get the whole benefits of it (not limited to muscle growth, but a myriad of health benefits) that's nowhere near enough. The problem i have with this type of videos is pareto principle. If trying to get 3 liters of water is of the same importance to you as 8 hours of sleep or properly exercising... Something is wrong with you. There are certain things that bring along amazing results, and a bunch of things that at most will give you a lilbit of an optimization. It just doesn't make sense.

4:35 Unless you are 70+, you can rely on thirst. It’s almost as if body already has a mechanism to ensure adequate, not excessive, hydration:-) Thirst is nothing more than your receptors telling you exactly how much water you need to deliver to the system. And let’s not forget even solid foods, soups etc. contain water. Drinking so much before bed will interrupt your sleep a lot, not good. Fun fact: If you weigh 75kg and drink 6 litres of water at once, there is a 50% chance you will die.

Love the video dude. Device implementation is definitely a very important part of building consistency w these habits, but something that I’ve seen work for people who might just be getting into “self improvement” practices is taking baby steps with the habit itself. You don’t need to start off with the intended goal, you can just do a fraction in order to ensure compliance. This will snowball, and as you stick to it, you can increase volume or intensity of whatever habit. I think people try to go too hard in the beginning and it’s hard to do all these things when you’re just starting off. Running 30 mins isn’t as good as running for 60 mins maybe, but the fact that you’re running at all is something that should be appreciated and celebrated too!

I have darker skin so my skin cancer risk is waaay lower than those with pale skin but I think the sunscreen thing is way overblown. Just intuitively-- why would we need to wear sunscreen every single time we go in the sun when we know that vitamin D deficiency is so widespread and harmful? Unless you work outside, it doesn't make sense to spend all your time indoors and then slather on sunblock when you go out. You'd almost never give your skin a chance to make Vit D. I read that a good rule is to get 10-30 minutes of direct sunlight daily with no sunscreen Darker skin tones should be closer to 30 minutes (maybe a little more) and very pale needing closer to 10. Obviously this should be on as much bare skin as is legal lol (think shorts and tank top). If you plan on being in direct sun for longer, then go for the sunscreen and obviously avoid sunburn at all costs. Your skin is a Vitamin D factory. Why waste money on supplements in the non winter months?
@seanrawlinson
@seanrawlinson 4 жыл бұрын
Just pay attention to when the UV index is lower in the day with minimal protection and get your 30 mins then. Wearing glasses is also counter-productive since 98% of sunlight is absorbed from the eyes. Any charcoal grey, non-polarised lens are the best blocker of glare.

The amount of hours of sleep is not the only parameter in sleep. If you consistently wake up after 5 hours, and feel awake and well rested, then you don't need to force more hours in. We are all different, and some people require substantially less sleep. Of course, if you wake up feeling that you need more sleep, but can't fall asleep, its an issue, in which case light levels, temperature, time of last meal etc all play a role.

I wonder how much lack of sleep is due to malnutrition in his vegan diet. The tip off from me was... 1) the nutritionist didn’t recommend any animal products. 2) recommending vegetables for choline is inefficient because: a) we don’t have the extended digestive track to break down vegetables and get all the nutrients and b) the amount of choline in beef liver and eggs are much higher and more available. Poor sleep for 2 years sounds like a neurological issue that may benefit from animal fat and good cholesterol (which the nervous system is made out of).

I am very wary of the information written down for where to get the most nutrients from what as I have definitely noticed a few discrepencies from what I know to be true such as: Vitamin C not mentioning kiwis as there is much higher dose of it in kiwis over oranges, Vitamin D - from what I have researched on this, it is very hard to get from foods but the one food it can sometimes be found in is mushrooms, which you have mentioned, but i do not know why oats and orange juice are listed under this as they are not known to contain vitamin D, Calcium - I do not know why leafy greens isn't listed under calcium as it is supposed to be the main vegan source for it, Iron and Zinc - I do not know why flax seeds are not listed under this, Selenium - 1.5 brazil nuts give enough selenium for an entires day of nutrients so do not know why this isn't listed. I am certainly not attacking this video and actually extremely enjoyed it but I just want to make sure that the correct nutritional information has been written down so that other people know about it.

Ooo the chugging of all that water made me cringe lol! It's so much better for you to just take the hit for the day than chugging as that can cause/lead to water intoxication (aka water poisoning). If it helps, set an alarm for every so often (every 20 mins, 30 mins, etc. whatever works for you) to take a drink. Or invest in one of those Hidrate Spark bottles that reminds you to take a drink.
