I feel like, unlike guess the elo-chess or guess the elo-league of legends, guess the elo-hearthstone has the issue that the total number of decisions made in a game is sometimes so small that even a noob can play perfectly. And this isn't even super rare. Having said that, it was a fun video still.

17:10 "Why is that in the deck?" As someone who watches a lot of wild, I see that card in basically every warlock deck, it's bordering on auto include, insanely good in wild. As far as Wild is concerned, it's basically one of the best cards ever printed, there was clamoring for it to be nerfed. Doesn't help that Warlock got a bunch of support for it and was pushed pretty hard in terms of power level for CoT

I love the absolute mental gymnastics Rarran does to try to determine someones rank, especially when it goes off the rails between his guess and the reality lol I will say though, if you ever do decide to do this again, maybe see about having the person who compiled the videos also erase the opponent's name? Idk if there's exceptions in the video but on stream, since you can see your opponent's rank at legend, they had a big open gap to the left of it which made it very easy to tell if the player's rank is legend or not (at least to me). Beyond that though, super fun concept for a video and props to the person who compiled the videos, even with that issue I mentioned they did an awesome job getting the footage together and hiding the rest of the rank stuff as much as possible!

Guess this goes to show that rank is kinda irrelevant when discussing plays. Also you can 100% tell when someone is legend if they cover the opponents rank, since that's the only time it shows.

i always thought hearthstone ranks are pretty arbitrary because the way to climb is by sinking a lot of time into the same deck, also hearthstone misplays are pretty uncommon and easily correctable

Wild is crazy man. You can never tell the rank from the skill because there are the fun decks that you play if you want to have a good time... And then there are *those* decks. The ones that win on turn 4. I have played the game since 2014 and I exclusively play a single deck I love. I have never gotten higher than silver... Its a "bad" deck but its fun.

This doesn't work because Hearthstone is objectively a low skill game. Anyone can learn how to pilot someone else's deck and reach legend by playing enough. What sets the pros apart is that they can increase their win percentage slightly by making the optimal plays more. I can beat the world's best hearthstone player in a one off game, even if I make mistakes. In 100 games they'll win more than me.

Mediocre players such as myself jam OP meta decks that require little thought, then switch to more fun decks with which they have little experience when they hit legend. That's why it's called "dumpster legend": because you're playing against people who only play a couple hours a week and don't want to think too much, and they're running whatever meme deck they enjoy.
