Cottage industries are the backbone of economies in China and Germany and many others; but not in the US or UK, which have a different economic paradigm that doesn't encourage cottage industry manufacturing and are more or less focused on services. It’s more expensive here NOW because we’ve lost all of our suppliers & our factories. Most innovation and R&D happens in the factory. This is going to be catastrophic for our economy and national security in the long term. We need to re-establish a basic production infrastructure at the very least. Raw material mines need to be re-opened. Steel factories & stainless steel treatment needs to be significantly increased. We need all of our technology production to start transitioning back to the US. We need to make clothing here so we have to maintain our cotton industry. We need to simplify and localize food production. If we don’t have these things back here before we get in a major war, the country will suffer. Globalization is good for the short term but not for the long term. I understand that it’s hard to do this on your own. It’s all the result of TPP & NAFTA. It’s hard to compete with poor countries if they can legally sell products on our market.

Yeah, I had a bag quoted from a manufacturer in NYC. They wanted 2k just for a sample and the cost and MOQ required were astronomical. I think it would work if you were doing something really high-end but why when you could just go to China. I bowed out of the deal, and the manufacturer put themselves forward as a rep for a factory in China. I think they were going to make them in China and take a cut, but that's not what it looked like on the front end. Who knows? The stuff I'm having made now has specific art on it. The biggest problem I'm having with Chinese manufacturers is getting them files and the language barrier. If you do due diligence, you can find excellent manufacturers. Even in China, I'm buying higher MOQ's than I want but nowhere near what you face in the U.S. Chinese manufacturers are really good at customizing and basically giving you what you want.

No, the American retailers make most money while Chinese manufactures earn peanuts. Ask P&G, J&J, Apple to move back here and pledge to provide them the same incentive China gave them. If Americans are willing to work instead of overloading companies with well-fairs and perks I don't see why it's cheaper to manufacture in China. China gave tax incentive and low environmental regulations to factories while California is doing the opposite. Chinese government doesn't waste time debating social justice and gender equality. Gender equality ultimately is meritocracy (equal opportunity ). American was based on meritocracy but now everything is based on political correctness. Trump said learn from China. He praised China and Russia and called Americans stupid not because he likes them but he wants America to do better. It's time to learn from China.

For some products, it will be a lot more efficient to manufacture them in the USA; but for other products like the one you were looking at, it makes no sense to do so unless you REALLY want that "made in the USA". I think it's important to check this for any new products you want to make. Nice video, but he harps on false labor costs that are not quite the schism the gentleman alludes to. Run of the mill heap production line items like Alibaba, China Business Daily have all of that action all sewed up. Higher cost units require higher cost labor among other aspects. But the gentleman fails to address basic attributes, such as but not limited to, environmental documentation, impact statements, environmental justice, insurances, performance bonds, worker's compensation, UIB/DIB and on and on and on........! China is environmentally minded. But they use a national type of environmental management system that is much more simple than the 14001. Likewise, China's entire economy and government both central, provincial, county, and municipalities exists in a nonadverasary set of code that, generally speaking, facilitate commerce. However, the gentleman really laid it down for the viewers to begin to appreciate the basics of why things we used are not made here.Great video.

That's only ever a problem if you're reselling other people's products on their listings. If you're manufacturing your own product you'll never have that issue. Manufacturing has been going to other countries for decades. All bc of profits. In China and other countries the worker gets paid $2 (more or less) and no laws protecting them, like work hour limits, paid overtime, use of child labor in some situations etc. basically sweat shop conditions. People can’t afford a home, or to take time off, they even sleep at the job. But in America we have laws, workers rights, minimum wage, unions (only 30% now left of once was), child labor protections... making profits harder here. So is everyone ok exploiting working conditions in other countries to make more money than those making the items can ever dream of? Apparently most are whether it’s Walmart or Trump or Adam. This is something I haven’t heard discussed in the many videos of FBA I’ve seen. This is a moral issue for me. I will be looking at that when picking manufacturers. Not sure it’s possible with out slave labor. Hope to find a way.

I don't want to bring politics into your great presentation, but this whole tax the rich kinda blows up the MADE IN USA initiative. Again, hate to bring it up, but this is real problem and the basis to your comparison. Thanks for sharing your findings. Very informative.

your titles misleading you were not manufacturing you were trying to source and have packaging done . in othere words you wanted to be a seller. nothing wrong . but manufacturing means you get a building equipment and blend product. here is a big impediment . buffit a few years ago had a factory built from the way he presented from consept to first product out of factory was 6 months. in this country any size factory building could take longer than 6 months to years to just get building permit . longer depending what being built epa, city, county, state, federal. even longer if even slight hazmat permits china many less rules some bribes and questionable quality work but its done fast. i do think some codes rules etc are really needed . but even a large store cost a fortune to get permits big box stores have full staff of lawyers engineers and architects on call . but the usa has gotten way too much government and conflicting agencies and when everything seems ready a councleperson can toss a new wrench . but that said chinas massave human right abuses, there tremendous pollution is not sustainable or allowable . and i am not talking greenhouse. they use coal unregulated, they dump everything in the ocean all type of air pollution and even talking greenhouse gas they dont even have to start till 2030 and they have no trouble not going to honor the agreement. but yet the countries will shut production in countries using cleaner rules or switch to solar. and china makes most solar wafers, most lithium most electronics all with no pollution control
