Um... if you add lemon or lime (an acid) to alkaline (basic) water... it is no longer alkaline... I blame Gwyneth Paltrow for perpetrating that one.

I used to make legit hair gel by boiling chia seeds in water. It worked great for my curly hair; great hold without being crunchy (just add a couple drops of essential oil or something or you’ll smell very… bready for some reason). Knowing how much actual gel they form, I had a bad feeling about this hack, but I’m sorry it was so gross :( Looking at it, I think the “fuzzy” stuff you were seeing is actually them starting to form their gel. It was always SO HARD to clean the stuff I made my hair gel with; that stuff stuck to everything. That’s really why I don’t use it anymore, just too much of a pain to make. But if there’s an apocalypse, I’ll keep everyone set with hair gel! Anyway, Maddison, if you want the same kind of stomach-filling benefits without drinking fuzzy bug water, get some Metamucil. As long as you drink it right when you mix it, it just tastes like orange drink powder, it’s fine. If you let it sit for a minute (or even just dawdle drinking it) you’ll notice it’s getting thicker at the end. But even when it is thicker, you don’t see fuzzy bugs in your drink! I’m on my second canister of it, I have food texture issues, and as long as I drink it fast, it’s totally fine! You’re very brave to try this! I suppose if you want the benefits of chia seeds themselves (or just want to use up your bag) you can add them to baked goods or things like oatmeal. I actually kinda like them in oatmeal; you won’t see any “fuzziness” on them and they help break up the bland texture of the oatmeal (straight oatmeal without any other texture is very gross to me). Or check out some vegan recipes; because it does gel and bind things, it’s often used as an egg replacement in them! Good luck, girl! 💖

have you tried flax seed gel? I haven't tried chia seeds, but the flax gel works amazing. There's tons of youtube tutorials on how to make it if you're interested!
@AnotherLosttSoul2 жыл бұрын
Do you mind sharing what recipe you used for the gel? I have CRAZY thick, curly hair & have recently started giving my hair love & using either natural products, products I've made, or what I can find that seem to be the healthiest for it & would love to give the gel a shot.
@sarahallegra62392 жыл бұрын
@@AnotherLosttSoul Hi! The first commenter reminding me that I actually used flax, no chia seeds for my hair. It had been such a long time, I’d genuinely gotten them mixed up! You can search for tons of recipes, but this one looks similar to what I used to make: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4jEeWt9fsd_qK8 I would STRONGLY suggest changing one thing though; get one of those metal balls that are made for brewing tea in them and put the seeds in that. You do NOT want to struggle and fight with trying to get hot gel to drain through all the seeds. It’ll also ruin your tea strainer as far as tea goes, so you’ll want a special one for this (it doesn’t have to be exactly round, any shape is fine as long as it’s for tea leaves). Good luck! I really did enjoy using the gel when I made it, I just got tired and having to keep making it all the time, haha.

i feel like if u wanted to drink this regularly u should probably keep it in a cup where u cant see the gross little bug seeds. drinking it from a cup with a lid might also be helpful, but that's just bc i have ocd and i would probably worry that a bug landed in my drink. if u dont want chia seeds in ur water just drink a lot of water 30 mins b4 any meal. it makes u feel fuller, but im sure the chia water makes u feel even more full or something idk

An easy way to use up those chia seeds is soaking them overnight in milk (it'll become like a pudding consistency) and then mixing it into yogurt, oatmeal, ice cream, smoothie bowl etc. I promise you don't taste it and they're not crunchy!

I use chia seeds in water as egg replacement... Bit worried that this is a "you won't feel hungry so you'll lose weight!" thing- you don't need to fill your stomach with fake egg whites. Calories give you energy, energy gives you a full and happy life. Anyone who's worried about their weights or fad diets, just learn some really simple information about nutrition and make (proper) food choices that are right for you x
