Rice porridge is not usually eaten as a dessert, but as a separate meal on little Christmas Eve, served with sugar, cinnamon and butter eye. Your porridge seemed to be far to dry. You should add more milk if you ever make it again. We make more porridge than we eat that day, and use the leftovers to make rice cream. It consists of whipped cream and sugar that is mixed with the leftover porridge and flavored with sugar and vanilla sugar before being served with red sauce.

Yes, this is what I remember! 🙈 I don't usually make it this often, and the porridge in the video was way too dry! 😂 Thank you for the insights. The rice cream the next day is always delicious!

Kan man kjøpe pinnekjøtt i Tyskland? Eller man tar det med selv? Pinnekjøtt er nydelig til Jul. Hilsen Alex

Nice video, but something about aquavit. There are many types of aquavit. Christmas quince contains a lot of caraway and other herbs, so the taste is a bit special. Many people don't like it, but it is good for very fatty Christmas food so that the stomach can digest it. There are many types of aquavit for different types of food, but there is also aquavit as an aperitif. In other words, it is drunk like cognac. Because for less than half the price in Norway, well, maybe a third of the price for a very good aqua connoisseur, you can recommend one called "Gammel Reserve". Costs only NOK 450 for 0.7 liters at Vinmonopolet. Had one, Single Cask, cost twice as much for 0.5 but wondered a whiskey connoisseur. He thought it was a single malt that cost NOK 3,000. There is a whole world in aquavit, from good to bad and the price is the same, you just have to find out what is very good.

Thanks for the insights, seems to be like whiskey too im more into that, I did not tried so many variants from Aquavit but it seems to be worth a try, maybe its possible to grab them during travels in the duty free so its not that expensive then if you buy it and can't drink it duo to tase 🙈🙈. I bet you also drink Cognac then ? Thank you for sharing and supporting.

@@ArcticNorthAdventures I'm also very into whisky, but the economy puts a stop to buying what I want most, i.e. good "single malt". One like this costs at least twice as much as an "Gammel Reserve" on "Polet", and if you find a "Singel Casket" aquavit that is good (no, not all of them are worth the price), but the best ones can match whisky three times more expensive. "Non Plus Ultra" which costs around NOK 650 is a top seller. I'm also into cognac, or, after all, it's blended, so I prefer Armagnac. A bit expensive old habits, but in fact everything that is expensive is actually perhaps cheaper in Norway than abroad.

@@ArcticNorthAdventures Many Norwegians have a habit of buying aquavit for Christmas, and it will be a cheap one with a lot of caraway flavor, i.e. something that matches the food. But as I said, cheap crap, so they put it in the freezer so it's ice cold when it's drunk to dull the caraway taste, and when they drink it, they say; ugh, that was good.
@protestagain Жыл бұрын
@@ArcticNorthAdventures A good piece of advice is to search online for an aquavit test. Such a test gives a certain indication of what is good and what is not as good, but there is much that they do not actually know, or may know, but such tests are always colored by those who do them.

@@ArcticNorthAdventures A good tip for entering the world of aquavit is to buy a box of 24 small bottles. Looks like one costs NOK 460.
