Vice and Mature were the two who got me into KoF. It happened after I tried Vice in CvS2 and since playing them in 98 I fell in love. Glad to see they also have some part in others getting into KoF.

Im 41 years old and I have been playing this game since KOF 94 when it cost 50 cents to play, From the opening intro from 94 I was hooked, and when 97 came out Team Orochi changed the game. KOF will always , always, load a special place in my heart.

As a person who has only played modern fighters this game is harder to run your offense than a GGST/SF6. You have a lot of options on defense which kind of gives it a different feel.

KoF is one of the last bastions of defensive play in modern FGs. Most other franchises have gone very offense-heavy with their recent installments, even Tekken which used to mostly reward solid movement, defense, and legacy skill. Not to say the newer games are bad, but it’s just a breath of fresh air to play one where you’re not punished for being good at defense.

Kof get the traditional values of your average fighting game and the stylish rewarding combos of an anime fighter this game for me is one of the easiest games to learn of how to combo because you are given so many situations where you go "Oh shit can I [blank]" and more often than not you can it just feels so good like game just has a way of letting you feel the combo potential letting you now there's more you can do here.

KOFXIII was great, XIV was also great IMO, and XV is definitely one of the best games. I'm biased though, because I love the flexibility and cast. The 4 games I played in the 90s locally were SF2 variations, Dark Stalkers, Guilty Gear, and KOF'98. I used to restore MVS cabinets and had a few of the KOF carts I picked up from worse for wear cabinets. I never got into 3D fighters and still don't really have any fun with any of them outside of Soul Caliber. It's a shame that KOF doesn't get as much screen time as SF6. I love SF, but I feel like a lot of casual viewers would love KOF if given the chance. There's a bit more character diversity in high level play and it's flashy enough to keep people's attention. China, Korea, and Mexico holding it down for KOF last I saw.
