I ate them once and yes, they're delicious but I had to go to the hospital because I had incredibly sharp stabbing pains in my abdomen. I honestly didn't think it was related and was told it was due to eating bread/flour but honestly, that day I was on vacation and wasn't eating bread so I just let it go. Fast forward about 3 months I made them at home and OH MY GOODNESS, the pains were back but thankfully not that intense, so I knew right there, there was a connection. I'm just sharing this because if any of you experience something similar you know what is it.

Then I take them down and dry them to make teas for my family and friends. I might try this recipe next time they all flower. I love all of my plants too. We have two 10ft banana trees, two lemon trees, all the hibiscuses, many orchids and a Nordic Pine that has been passed down three generations in my family. I also have three Aerogarden farms and three regular Aerogardens. I've been wanting to get another tree, but we have ran out of room somehow.

@@MEngSeong Yeah...it's not really the hibiscus flower pictured in the thumbnail, though it may technically be a part of the flora family... it's completely different. We call it "sorrel" in the Virgin Islands and throughout the Caribbean. The petals are far thicker, can be slightly prickly when peeling it from the seed (depending on the type, yes there are different types), and have a sour bite when eaten fresh.

If the tumbnail flower you see is red with yellow pollen on a part of it then it is a hibiscus rosa sinensis with isn't used for culinary purposes but for decoration mostly among islanders and if the thumbnail flower you're seeing is a closed reddish-purple one then it is hibiscus sabdariffa which was used in the video as it is used for cooking and is also used to make a Caribbean favorite called sorrel.

Just add some sugar and a squeeze of lemon to the cooled down reddish water. I promise is the most refreshing stuff ever!!! Once you make some delicious infused water, now you can cook with it.

in mexico people eat flower tacos all the time. Hibiscus flowers (Jamaica), pumpkin and squash flowers, colorines, huazontle (amaranth flower)very high in protein, guaje flowers ,agave flowers, all of them high in nutrients, but unfortunately unknown for many people.

I love this idea, very nostalgic for me, when my sister and I were little we would eat the flowers off of our parents hibiscus trees now that I know it’s a thing I don’t feel so weird.

In Mexico they actually do use a flower, flor de calabaza or squash blossoms, to add to a quesadilla aka quesadilla de flor de calabaza. It’s delicious and that flower requires no prep or seasoning, just rinse in water, dry, and stick it in your tortilla! 😋

I like that you can tell that Merle and Aria are in love Bc they subconsciously copy the other persons body language. One of them laughs the other laughs. One of them leans on the counter the other leans on the counter. And they’re ALWAYS looking at eachother.
