After making my SUN lamp I have decided to make another project about the Universe so I am pleased to present to you two GALAXY night lamps from epoxy resin and wood.
I have used white powder mixed with glow powder and formed the GALAXY by carefully dusting the powder into clear epoxy resin.
Each lamp displays a GALAXY and is illuminated by LED light. The base is made from wood. The LED LIGHT operates with 3 x 1,5V batteries AAA.

This is old and dont know if youll see it but I recommend heat mats with the resin. You can take a 24 hour project down to 5 hours give or take easily. just a heat mat, silicone sheet on, and a insulated cover. My projects are ready out the mold in as little as 4 hours sometimes. You just need to let the project cool off completely after other wise its still flexible

At 2:24 you lowered the galaxy into the block. How did you remove the wire off it without the galaxy sinking to the bottom? Wait until it was thick enough to hold it, yet viscuous enough to fill in the space left behind by the wire?

Q1: yes , just pay attention to the thickness of the pouring. If you want to make it very thick you will have to pour in layers. Q2 never tried it but I am about to create a snow lamp so stay in touch. 😊

I have only seen you use uv resin and I can see the advantage to using it, but how long does it take to cure? Hi Bob and thank you for your comment. I dont have a pressure pot but from what I have seen in videos of others who use it, the big advantage of the pressure pot is that it eliminates the air bubbles which otherwise are inevitable. I dont know if the resin takes less time to cure inside a pressure pot. The UV resin cures very fast (within seconds) under UV light and is a very useful tool for resin projects, it is like a resin super glue. Finally I.live in Athens, Greece. Its cool, but i think you should of made the ball lamp with springs so when you push the ball down it lights up then push it again then it goes dark and mabey put some black on the wood and color the galaxy purple, pink and blue.... but other than that ITS AMAZING!!

Are those Parkside tools good? I have used a drill from them on a construction site for a few months until it got stolen or lost. It had pieces missing from all the drops it got and the motor was probably drowning in dust but it was still going strong, so I'm wondering if I could use them for woodworking and rely on them for at least a year.

for wood working I use proxxon tools. I dont use parkside tools apart from the soldering gun you see in the video and a table drilling machine. I have the table drilling machine for 2 years without any issues so far. Thank you for your comment.
