In general, I think it is not about where you are, but it is the generation problem. I made around 60mil a month in Saigon back then, but at the time I left, I was only able to make a downpayment for 2 bed 1 bath condo in like District 9 or Go Vap or even District 12. I worked in district 10…. Everyday commute is terrible 😢. Yeah, to my point, you may only see the bright side in Vietnam because it is new to you. With 3 income under one household also gave us the ability to put more into the stock market which also returned us 400% too so far which will also contribute into retirement for all of us.

The cost of living in Canada nowadays is exorbitantly expensive!!! After living 8 months in VN I think your return to Vancouver would be a huge shock for the mental system !! Thanks to your parents for your shelter temporary, otherwise you would be a homeless person with the cost of living these days ! The dream to own a home is no longer feasible for younger generations, unfortunately! Having rich parents would help but you don’t have that privilege! Your parents have worked so hard for so many years , you wouldn’t want to burden them nor to ask for financial help !! Vietnam is the best place for you to shelter and to thrive . You looked much happier in VN because you have found and regain your happiness finally !

I don’t know! 🤷 Many people would say “Just follow you heart!” But.. If you lose, you could lose it any where! If you could make it, you could make it any where! If one couldn’t keep his/her job, couldn’t buy a house in one particular place, how could one get it done in another place? Is there an opportunity? Yes? Then grab it, I would say! Success! 👍🏻

For the young generation like Millennials and Gen Z, i just recommend saving and investing in stocks rather than buying a home. You can rent. Owning a home isn’t just expensive to buy, it’s expensive to maintain too. Property taxes, things break, HOA, insurance, etc. I own a home so I know the headaches even when you pay off your house, it’s still a headache because things break often and if you’re not handy, you’re going to have to pay to fix things. Rather than buying a house for 500-800k, you can save that and live comfortably off the interest in Vietnam.

Hi, best wishes for you on your new journey! But your story is the story of our generation. Life is tough everywhere now, even in VietNam, houses prices are crazy. We cannot live the life as of our parents anymore but when you choose to be free, it comes with uncertainties. Funny that when you are selling everything and be back to VietNam, I am preparing to make the opposite route. I’m watching a lot of youtuber from Canada to prepare for what is coming and thanks for all the heads up Man. A little notice for you that HCM and HN are horribly polluting now so you should try staying in other cities like Nha Trang, Da Nang,..it is better for your health. Viet Nam is a beautiful country but it is dying man, not a good place for long term living.

Making $90k a year Spend $60k a year Invest $30k a year Repeat for 30 years $5,500,000.00 IS MORE THAN ENOUGH IF YOU KEEP SPENDING LESS THAN YOU EARN AT EARLY OR PRE RETIREMENT AGE TIME IS YOUR VALUABLE ASSETS INVEST EARLY AND CONSISTENTLY ITS NOT ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU MAKE ITS ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU KEEP

Hi bro, this is the first time I have comment on your channel. I am 3 years older than you. My case is quite opposite to yours. Born and raised in Vietnam and looking for a better life in Canada where media called it as a heaven but it turned out to be a hell for immigrants like me. Affordability of housing and cost of living in on the lips of politicians but no solutions are actually provided. There is no way to own a house even your annual income is more than $100,000 in this country. For years, Canada has been well-known as a developed country with a comprehensive social welfare system but the tax is crazy and unbelievable. You can not save money and enjoy your life here in small labour market with only 37 to 40 mil people and Canada's economy heavily relies on the US. Guess what happens since Trump's effort to place tariffs on Canada. You should find you way as I guess you have recognized where you have a comfortable life with stress free and enjoy every moment of you life. It takes time to settle down in Vietnam but hard work will pay off.

If you want more affordable houses, move to Houston, Texas. 😁
