Great idea! Yes you could add something to the front of the shirt. Maybe a little trim or ruffle on the sleeves? It’s wonderful AS IS! I can’t wait to try it !

When I have made these before I usually would appliqué a simple heart or butterfly from the bottom fabric across the chest (turning a plaid diagonally for the appliqué is so cute) but since I’ve just learned how to make yo-yos I might try making a large-ish one for the waistline, OR a couple for the pockets, OR maybe a row of them to get a necklace effect around the neckline… other appliqué ideas might be flowers, or animals, or sunrise… I’ve tried many variations and they’re all fabulous!

Oh, yes, a bow at the neckline and one on the pocket. It's so cute the way it is, but adding a little color would make it even better. Also, I've seen these dresses made where the t-shirt is left whole, and a deep flounce is added to the bottom to make it long enough.

It is a tee shirt…. It doesn’t need a special closure since tee shirts are fine just as a pullover.

It would work with knits, but they aren’t good for donation. The girl pop holes in knit very quickly

I don’t know if ElizabethMadeThis is part of this ProjectDressaGirl, but she has a tutorial on making a dress out of a t-shirt here elizabethmadethis.com/how-to-turn-a-t-shirt-into-a-dress/ The main advantage to me is that she includes a chart of how long the finished dress should be for each size (very helpful when you don’t have a little girl handy to hold it up to)…. PLUS, my Spanish is mucho rusty, & this tute is in English.
