I guess I must have missed some of her vocal coaching, it's true that she's great with vocals. I think it's so sad that the members have been in the industry for like 10 years and for 6 and a half as Dreamcatcher yet no one ever covers them. We only had the Rolling Quartz one but that doesn't really count since they're already a rock band. And this doesn't even have to do with the fact that they're that popular, they still seem to fly under the radar. No what I mean is exactly what you said here: without being a fan you can acknowledge that most of their choreo is insane and they also do the live singing. Hell, even a Minx song would do. If a rookie can do WDYCTMH and drive on a skateboard and do Siyeon's whistle note, no one would question their abilities, ever. But we haven't seen anything, I can literally only think of 2 snippets from something laid down like a livestream by Purple Kiss and I think Rocket Punch (but that also doesn't really count since they're just big fans of DC). This is the sad thing, idols would probably only cover DC if they were on Queendom bc it's literally the show concept. Is it bc they're too unique and too much of a niche? Not everyone likes their music. Or are their choreos just too intimidating😂
@moongirl8807 Жыл бұрын
@Neopearl ugh don't get me started. It seems to have shifted more to a NewJeans sound (thankfully but also not good for multiple reasons). But when Tomboy and Ring ma bell came out I wanted to cry (Yena did it too but she at least made it more fun rock and stuck to it for more than one song). It's ironic bc for years we wanted the recognition and that ppl actually get to appreciate rock. But it was so obvious that this had nothing to do with liking the sound but just being edgy and having this shock value. I hope this isn't taken the wrong way bc I like a lot of groups and still listen to them but just look what they did after their rock inspired cb. Look at the fashion and sound they're using now, and look at all the other groups... and a lot of members from a particular group are friends with Dreamcatcher AND produce themselves so this connection kinda breaks my brain. I mean Dreamcatcher is successful now but I think a lot of people still don't get why it took them that long. There will always be a wave of trends that hyped up the masses but when it came to the Dreamcatcher niche it hurt. Their songs aren't even that hard that casual listeners can't enjoy them. But bandwagon stanning is a HUGE problem, in the industry in general. We can just be glad that Dreamcatcher were the first to get into this niche. Like truly a blessing. The niche is barely big enough for 2 big creepy groups (Purple Kiss being the other and they already have big company backing but even they have to slowly grow).

Which line(rap line,vocal line or dance line) would it be if it was debuted in the group (and There are no useless members) 8)The voting system is accurate and fair , there are equal opportunities for all trainees, all they have to do is give everything they have, 9) the examples of the coaches are great, we really need real coaches, we don't need meaningless reactions, 10) the elimination system is very genius, final thoughts: this program is perfectly competitive, and At the same time, all that the trainee must do is show there talent with confidence. I feel that Chuang (Produce Camp) did a decent job of showcasing all or a large chunk of the contestants through their variety and BTS (Behind the Scenes) KZbin content (although I think it did drain many of the contestants' energy). I believe that a modified version of the outside/BTS content would help people feel more connected to the contestants. It would have to premier within the same timeline as the more edited series and not after weeks/months of the show airing. As we have seen with multiple produce/survival groups, when more BTS content comes out, people are more willing to vote for or realize how amazing certain contestants are.

Have you seen Peak Time? Your first mission sounds a lot like what the show did for its combined unit round. It was my favorite round of the show, the idols were really able to show what they were good at. I think the show had a few issues especially when it came to benefit weighting (and taking a "scandal" of one of the groups too seriously) but overall I was surprised how open and fair they were after seeing so many mnet survival programs (round 1 elims were only judge voting, fully disclosing votes, judges weren't mentors until the final round where they had no power, one of the judges produced a song used during a round and was barred from voting that round, etc).

Ok, so I’ll try to recap what I remember. It would be great if anyone can let me know if I made a mistake -mentors and judges are completely separated -contestants have to be 16+ and have 2+ years of training experience -the ratio for each nationality in the final lineup is fixed (5 Koreans, 2 Japanese, 2 Chinese) -stage presence mentors pick the center, and fan votes determine the face of the group -here’s how the elimination works: 1.a. In the first mission, each contest chooses which strength she wants to showcase (vocal/rap/dance), and joins the respective group for that. 1.b. No one gets eliminated after the first mission. But judges pick their top9 2.a. In the second mission, the top9 contestants are split (8 and 9 stay together) and choose their groups (8 groups of 5) 2.b. The mission’s theme is a concept battle. For each concept, there are two teams that perform one song each. These two team compete against each other, and the winning team has advantages in the elimination process. 2.c. Two Korean girls, one Japanese girl, and one Chinese girl get eliminated by fans through votes. 2.d. Afterwards, judges get to eliminate the same number of contestants, but they can’t eliminate the “no touch” contestants (the top x number of contestants for each nationality according to fan votes) 2.e. 32 contestants remain. 3.a. The third mission is a “planet” clash. The Chinese contestants form one group, the Japanese contestants form one group, and the Korean contestants are split into two groups of 8 members. 3.b. Each group can choose the difficulty of their mission, which will determine how high the maximal reward (vote bonuses) can be. 3.c. The Korean groups share the rewards. The remaining two groups share theirs. 3.d. 7 Korean contestants are eliminated, 3 Japanese contestants are eliminated, and 3 Chinese contestants are eliminated. I didn’t get how they get eliminated, but I suppose it’s similar to how it worked for the second mission. 3.e. 19 contestants remain. 4.a. In this (4th) round, eliminated contestants can try to re-enter the competition through solo performances. 4.b. The fans are the ones who get to vote. 4.c. The top contestant for each country gets to re-enter the competition. 4.d. 22 contestants remain. 5.a. The contestants will be separated into 4 groups (2 groups of 5, and 2 groups of 6), and have to perform two songs: one bside, and one 2nd gen song. 5.b. Judges pick the bside, and fans pick the 2nd gen songs 5.c. Mentors join the 2nd gen song performances 5.d. The best bside performing team gets exempted from elimination. The same goes for the best 2nd gen song performing team. Fan votes will exempt a few contestants from elimination as well (those with the most votes) 5.e. Judges eliminate 3 Korean contestants, 2 Japanese contestants and 2 Chinese contestants that aren’t exempted. 5.f. 15 contestants remain. 6.a. The last (6th) mission is traditional. The contestants perform new original songs. 6.b. Fan votes (nothing else) determine the final lineup. Fans pick their top2 Korean contestants, top1 Chinese contestant, and top1 Japanese contestant each, during the voting process. 6.c. 9 members remain, and show their gratitude to whoever read this recap until the end.

The state of Kep1er just makes me sad. The girls are brilliant and passionate performers, and I just don't think their A&R is giving them anything to work with. Even Giddy was... just okay, which really sums up this entire GP999 and Kep1er saga. They don't suck, but they're just okay.
@wonderlucky1912 Жыл бұрын
Hi I like Kep1er and I think it’s interesting how some Kep1er fans and casual fans prefer their B-sides and Japanese releases over their title tracks. Many of their B-sides like MSVK, Downtown, Lion Tamer, Dreams, Back to the city, LVLY, could have been title track material.. I think all of their 4 title tracks have received mixed opinions from the public. Wa da da charted well in Korea, Up! Seems to be a casual fan favorite. I have seen Giddy get some casual fans interested in Kep1er again. I am slightly glad that Wakeone is acknowledging Kep1er’s B-sides for their latest Giddy comeback.

@@wonderlucky1912 their company is quite desperate since every other girlgroup has a specific concept/color and I believe they debuted when Itzy and aespa were the face of 4th gen and they had crazy loud ass music (that worked for them) so the company thought of going with the trend at the time but they didn't expect in a few months so many ggs would be doing such different things and charting, they should have established a specific concept for Kep1er right at debut or have kept up with the trends. Their b-sides are good tho.

@@ennauak Hi! I see what you mean I think it depends on someone’s music taste but it seems like the general public consensus is that not all of the Kep1er members fit their concept/music genre especially with songs like Wa Da Da and We Fresh. (They are Great performance type of songs) I do agree that these songs don’t make all of the members stand out equally compare to songs like Up! And now Giddy. I think their original debut space concept could have work if Wakeone put more of an effort. Yes there B-sides are great and even their Japanese releases and I think those concepts/music genres make all of the members stand out.

I love most of the idea especially the one where only ages 16+ are allowed and the fixed ratio of the group and contestants. Plus the missions especially the stars one is so innovative and fun omg It really tests the participants' ability to strategize and gauge their limits/strengths - this part could show who's really suited for being a leader imo. *The elimination mechanics was BRILLIANT.* I initially thought I wanted an elimination where the judges (same as you I'd prefer it if the judges and mentor are separate so there would be no bias) will score the trainees based on their missions and the least ranking people would be subject for elimination - what the fans can then do is vote for the contestants they wanna save. This will guarantee that only the most talented are safe but will probably, most likely, compromise the popularity of the group (since the least scorers might have the most popular people in there). Having yours would balance both talent and popularity better -- but now thinking about it, that's disregarding the fact that fans will probably vote for their picks to be in the safezone regardless of talent and there's a possibility that only talented people might be in the danger zone so I guess your method still has room for improvement? Since it still sliiiiiiightly compromises talent. Maybe a mix of judge scoring from the mission and fan votes for the safe zone? Idk. *For the limit of 2 years training experience:* I'm not too sure - there could be independent trainees (who haven't gone on training under a company at all) that are very talented like kim jaehwan (wanna one's main vocalist). In produce japan, most of them were independent trainees that never received training but there were hidden gems like kawanishi takumi (great performer and expressions, vocals were developed throughout the show). I think instead of setting a limit of training experience, I'll just let the audition phase be stricter instead of letting just anybody in. afaik, they hold auditions to determine who the participating trainees will be.

i like this set up! it's very interesting. the one thing i'd change tho is for mission 3, i'd have one of the korean groups work with the c-girls and the other korean group to work with the j-girls. even though they're doing separate songs, because their points add up together they'll need to discuss and coordinate among themselves to find a strategy that works for everyone. it'd disadvantage the C/J girls who'll have a language barrier and they won't be able to strategize and work together the way the korean girls will. splitting the k-girls so that one team earns points with J and the other with C, will mean all of them will have varying levels of language difficulties and have to overcome that to strategize and make sure both teams win the most amount of stars

youre soo creative i loved this.. personally i'd keep the connect mission as the first one bc of how it's a general introduction of what's like being an idol (which is why trainees get nervous and everything) and because if it was the other way round i fear there would be cases of those who only can dance but sing poorly, etc and an idol cant always be in their comfort zone

this was actually very good period. i love how well analysed this was, organised, a voting system that makes sense. judges and mentors actually coming into play, and the choice of missions. and let's not even talk about the editing cuz it actually devoured, and serve whatever it had to. out of context but i see myself as a bigger star creator then a planet guardian, so i really hope in the near future we could maybe see you re-do boys planet aswell, cuz damn wasnt that messy too😧

This was honestly such a well crafted Survival Show. I hope that this system happens during Girls Planet 2, or even better, I-Land 2 since it’s airing later this year and MY GODDNESS that show was literally a show basically built to give trainees and viewers depression. Just don’t forget to credit my girl and give her royalties and copyright ownership @mnet
@Thing1G9 ай бұрын
I know that nobody is reading this, but I've been rewatching this video and want to say it anyway One change I would make to the elimination process is that instead of the judges choosing who to eliminate, they choose who to save, and the people that aren't saved are eliminated. It's the same process, really, but to the fans, it looks less like a direct attempt to sabotage their faves and more of an attempt to save their other faves.

i dont see an issue with trainees using these shows as experience, especially when there are a lot of contestants that quickly go home. its always good to get more experience performing in front of a crowd and a trainee probably doesnt get a lot of that. i like how my teenage girl did it, where everyone got a chance to perform and get feedback but there was the core group that was taken to be the survival contestants
@sleepinghost4 Жыл бұрын
i really like when people try to create a more ideal survival show! i think most of your suggestions in terms of the voting/elimination process and missions sound fun and should be put out. however i think the contestant criterion should add the requirement of fluency in korean for foreign trainees. it's normal to ask for language fluency when you apply for jobs overseas, plus being good at korean would reduce the chance of getting evil editing because mnet obviously did not give them the things they promised. while i don't necessarily want all trainees to speak korean as if it were their native language, it would be better for them to be able to engage in daily conversation. i saw some people wanting to reduce the required trainee period, and i think it should be dependent on the performance and information on the company through casting calls. survival shows are oftentimes a big opportunity for those who want to make it big, do not have a clear future plan due to company's difficulties or idols in need of a second chance. it's up to the casting crew to take those factors into consideration so i think the requirement of training period should be flexible. overall, sounds cool on paper, but i'm not sure mnet is going to do just that.. maybe the first of the first step we should take is to find a broadcast company which has good intention and would do the show for the pure purpose of producing a good one.

You explained in this video what the format of everything would ect. but have you thought of like the fillers? like the side 'fun' activities in between missions that would let us get to know the trainees better? would love to hear you opinion on that.... (this is my second comment hahah)

the voting/elimination process by the judges is very interesting to me bc seems like the perfect way for the survival show program to rig the results lmao. they can say that the 'judges' chose these contestants to be eliminated but they were chosen by the pd/executives so that they dont make it through the next round. this is a great video btw! after watching boys planet ive also thought the same thing- 'if i created a survival show what would i do...' I love the idea of having an all female, veteran cast as the mentors and the planet clash idea would be so fun~! it would be a great opportunity for contestants to showcase their other talents/ creativity skills

I have ideas for how contestants could move on to the next round! TEAMS: The winning team for each mission would be safe from elimination. So in the show, half of the teams from each mission would automatically advance and the remaining contestants would rely on votes. Top 9 would be judges pick and could be from both the winning and losing teams. PLANET STAR: The top 1 contestant of each round would automatically be granted a free pass to the finale. This is a double-edged sword because while they won't have to worry about elimination, they still have to compete in the missions and prove themselves throughout the rounds that they deserved the pass. FINAL VOTE ROUND: I think the final lineup would see one girl from each planet picked by judges, and the voting would end the night before instead of during the actual finale, so the judges would know the full lineup and pick the girls that would be cohesive. Maybe the live finale could have a vote for one last girl for ratings. But! The PLANET STAR for each round wouldn't be elligible for judge picks, they would have to be voted in by the public.

A survival show i felt executed what i expected for a show is &AUDITIONS. Not only did it allow fans to vote for who they like but it gave more decision and weight towards the judges on deciding the lineup. For the finale, rather it being just fan voted, it was 70% judge evaluation & 30% fan voting, giving a bigger chance to the trainees with not a solid fanbase but high quality talent

Something I noticed when you said "First place should be FOTG because they had the most votes" is that you didn't comment on the voting system. Now that's fine, it's a 30 minute video already and you don't need to go into detail about every single aspect, lol. But technically P01 in GP999 didn't have "the most votes", she had "the most *points* based on the 50-50 weighting of all Korean votes to all international votes". It's pedantic but I just wonder if you'd keep that system or make any changes to it. :) I don't have a preference myself tbh
